Rosie woke up the next morning with her dog covering half of her body. Rosie chuckled. "You know you weigh far to much for that." She said gently nudging her dog. Who climbed off of her. Rosie stretched and got up grabbing a poop bag and her phone and went to the back door and opened it for Sascha to go out.
She went out with him and sat on a chair that was in the backyard and turned her phone back on. Dozens of missed texts from Paige and a few missed calls from her as well. She texted her dad
'Paige has been texting me and calling me all night. I responded to the first text and told her not to text me anymore reminding her that there is a restraining order. Than she texted me telling me the restraining order was up. I didn't responded and she called me. I ignored the call and turned off the phone at that point. When I turned it back on this morning. A couple dozen text messages and a few missed calls from her appeared. Is the restraining order up?' She sent him
The door opened and she looked up Hunter came outside. "Morning." He said
"Morning." She said
"How did you sleep?" Hunter asked
"Okay." Rosie lied
Hunter tilted his head. "Your dad told me your tell."
Rosie chuckled. "Okay. Well, Sascha was laying on top of half of me half the night."
Hunter chuckled. "We will figure out a better arrangement for tonight."
"I'm not taking your bed." Rosie said
"We will figure something out." He said
"Okay." Rosie said
"So the call at 12:30 was from?" Hunter asked
"It woke you up too? Sorry." She said
"Who was calling you that late?" Hunter asked
"Paige." Rosie said looking down
"Name sounds familiar." He said
"former friend in California." Rosie said
"Thought that was Lexi." Hunter said
"The other one. The one who isn't supposed to be contacting me. I have let my dad know." Rosie told him.
Hunter nodded. "She is who texted you when I was with you isn't she?"
Rosie looked down. "Yes."
"Why didn't you tell me the truth than?" Hunter asked
"I wanted to send a text. I have wanted to say things to her for a really long time. I just wanted to send one text. And I know if it had been my dad and I told him he would have taken my phone to make sure I didn't… I wasn't sure what you would do." Rosie said
Hunter nodded. "I don't like being lied to."
"Sorry. Wont happen again." She said
"Its forgiven. This time." He said
Rosie nodded.
"You told your dad everything?" He asked.
"I gave him the cliff notes. It was in a text. When he calls about it. I will tell him everything." Rosie said
"Show me the texts." Hunter said putting his hand out.
Rosie unlocked her phone and opened the text conversation with Paige and handed him the phone.
Hunter read through them.
"Is the restraining order up?" Hunter asked
"I don't know. I think my dad would have told me if it was. I asked him." Rosie said
Hunter nodded
Rosie's phone started to ring.
Hunter handed it to her. "Its your dad. Put it on speaker."
Rosie answered it and put it on speaker. "Hey dad. You're on speaker. Hunter is here too."
"Okay. Hunter has she told you what is going on?" Dave asked
"She did this morning. She got a text last night when we were talking told me it was a friend. Told me just now that it had in fact been Paige." Hunter said
"You lied to him?" Dave asked
"Yes… Wont happen again." Rosie said softly
"Okay. Well. No the restraining order isn't up till you are both eighteen." Dave said. "What did the texts say?" Dave asked
Rosie read out all the texts to her dad. The later ones started to get hostile and nasty.
Dave listened. Hunter putting an arm around her when she was evidently getting upset.
"I'm sorry bambina." Dave said
"I just. It still hurts." Rosie said
"Of course, it does." Hunter said
Rosie nodded and wiped at her eyes.
"Rosie its going to be okay." Dave told her. "I know it hurts. But it will be okay."
Rosie took a breath. "I know."
"Rosie can you do me a favor?" Dave asked
"What?" Rosie asked
"You know how to screen shot on your phone?" Dave asked
"Yes. I will send them all to you." Rosie said
"Thank you." Dave said. "Rosie. I love you. You remember that right?"
"Yes daddy. I know." Rosie said, "I love you too."
"Do you want to talk about any of this? I will listen." Dave said
"That's okay. You have work." Rosie said
"Rosie. You trump work." Dave said "I know that a lot of the things that you have gone through you didn't talk to me about and it led to you doing some self-destructive things. I'm not going to let that happen again. So talk to me." Dave said
"I've got nothing to say." Rosie said.
"Alright. My phone is always available for you." Dave said.
"I know." She said
"If she texts you again. Screenshot it and send it to me." He said
"I will promise." She said
"And no more lying to Hunter." Dave said
"I wont." Rosie said
"We have talked about it." Hunter said.
"Okay. Than I will drop it. Love you both." He said before he hung up.
Rosie wiped at her tears again.
"You sure you're okay?" Hunter asked
"Yeah." Rosie said she got up and picked up the dogs dropping with the poop bags and threw it in a garage bin that Hunter pointed out in the back yard.
There was a crash from the kitchen. Hunter got up quickly and went inside. Rosie went inside after him and found Kara standing on the counter crying having dropped a glass and its pieces shattered were on the floor. Hunter took the little girl from the counter.
"Can you take her out of here please." Hunter asked handing her to Rosie. "Sure." Rosie said taking her.
"Sascha come." She said to the dog as well going into the living room.
"Hey Kara, its okay. Its just a glass. Papa will clean it up and it will be done with." Rosie said
"He be mad." Kara said
"I don't think so." Rosie said, "Hunter are you angry with her?" she called out
"No." Hunter said. He finished picking up the pieces and sweeping the floor. He threw everything in the garbage and came into the living room.
"I'm not angry Kara." He said taking her and sitting down with her in his lap. "But you know your cups are in a lower cabinet so you can get yourself a drink. So why were you climbing?" He asked
"Big girl glass." Kara said
Hunter sighed. "Kara. You cant use those. Because they break and you could have gotten hurt. Don't do that again okay?"
Kara nodded.
Hunter kissed her head and wiped her tears. "Now go get some socks on your feet just in case there are any pieces left that I missed." He said setting her down. Kara ran off to her room to get socks.
"Socks on your feet too." Hunter said
"I'll be fine." Rosie said
"Wasn't a suggestion." Hunter told her.
Rosie sighed
"I mean it Rosie." He said
Rosie dug out a pair of socks from her bag and put them on.
Hunter went and made sure the other girls did the same. Before he started to make breakfast. He made eggs and bacon.
Rosie came into the kitchen. "Can I do anything to help you?"
"There is watermelon in the fridge. You can cut it up." He said.
Rosie went into the fridge and took it out and found a cutting board and a knife and cut it up.
Soon everyone came down and breakfast was served and eaten.
When they were done. Callie and Hayley cleaned up
"Plans for today?" Hayley asked
"Nothing. Planned." Hunter said
"Can I go to the mall with Georgia. Her mom is going too." Hayley said
"Sure." Hunter said, "Need money for lunch?"
"I mean I wont say no." Hayley said with a smirk.
Hunter took out his wallet and gave her money.
"Thank you Papa." She said taking it before going off to get ready.
"You have plans today?" Hunter asked Rosie.
"Nothing planned. No." Rosie said
"Can you help me with pinterest for my room?" Callie asked
"I can help you start it yes." Rosie said
"Remember Hayley gets a say in it too." Hunter told Callie.
"I know. But I figure she will pick purple." Callie said
"Likely." Hunter said
"We can start an ideas board on pinterest and when Hayley gets a chance she can take a look and you two can figure out the finer details together. I can teach you how to use it and you can show her." Rosie said
Callie nodded and smiled
"Can you help us too?!" The twins asked
"Sure. But Callie asked first." Rosie said, "So after her."
Hunter smiled. She was falling into the role of big sister pretty quickly.
Rosie took out her laptop once the table was cleared.
Hunter went over. "Need the internet code?"
"Yup." Rosie said
Hunter put it in for her.
Callie came over and Rosie pulled up her own pinterest account.
"Do I need an account?" Callie asked
"No. Can just use mine for this. You're technically not old enough to have an account." Rosie said
Callie nodded. Rosie started a board and called it 'Callie and Hayley's room makeover.' And the two of them started to look up some stuff.
Hunter took a picture of the two of them and sent it to Dave. 'Sisterly bonding.'
'Glad they are getting along. Rosie is okay? No more texts from Paige?' Dave asked
'She seems okay. And don't think so. Would you like me to check?' Hunter asked
'No. I trust she will tell one of us if she does.' Dave said
'Okay. Stay safe' Hunter said
'I will. Promise.' Dave said
"You like the dark and gloomy." Rosie said to Callie.
"Yeah. I guess so." Callie said
Rosie nodded.
"Is that bad?" Callie asked
"No. Not at all. Its just you." Rosie said
Callie smiled.
"Hayley always tells me that I need to be 'happy'" Callie says
"Well, are you not happy?" Rosie asked
"I'm happy most of the time." Callie said with a smile.
"Well know that if you ever need to talk to who gets what it feels like to be sad sometimes I can listen. And not judge." Rosie said
Callie smiled and nodded.
They finished up pinning ideas for Callie's room and she went off and the twins both came, and Rosie started another board for their room. She worked with them for a couple hours.
Hunter came into the kitchen. "How is it going? He asked
"Good." Maddison said.
"Great." Mackenzie said.
"I think if you girls get what you want you are going to have a bedroom that every ten-year-old wants." Rosie said with a smile
"How epic are we talking?" Hunter ask with a smile.
Rosie chuckled.
"Don't be putting any ideas in their head of anything to over the top." Hunter said
"I have said nothing. Just went with their ideas." Rosie said smiling.
Hunter looked over her shoulder and looked at what the board had. Most things were well within reasonable. "That disney mural looks very cool but like it would require someone with a lot of talent."
Rosie clicked on one of the tabs to show the stencils. "I could probably do it. And I have a couple friends who are crazy creative. They would do it for free pizza." Rosie said
Hunter smiled and nodded. "Okay. We shall see girls. Got to check with Dave." He said
The girls nodded.
"But I think we are done for your ideas?" Rosie asked them
They said yes and went off.
Rosie let out a breath.
"Any texts that your dad and I should know about?" Hunter asked
Rosie picked up her phone that she had noticed went off half a dozen times but was ignoring. She looked. "Texts from Nolan and Taylor." Rosie said her eyes went wide.
"Oh my god…." She pulled up a video and showed Hunter.
"That's the house next to yours!" Hunter said
Rosie got up and quickly got her shoes on. "I have to go check the house."
Hunter stopped her. "Rosie. No, you don't have much experience driving. You are too emotional."
"I cant just stay here what if its on fire?" Rosie ask in tears.
"It looks like the fire department was there I'm sure it didn't spread." Hunter said
"I'm going." Rosie said
"Let me get someone to come stay with the girls. I will take you." Hunter said
Rosie took a breath and nodded. But the minute Hunter walked away Rosie was out the door to her car and drove to the house. She parked in the drive way and went over to where her friends were.
"Where were you?" Nolan asked. "I was so worried." He said hugging her tight.
"Sorry. I should have texted you when I saw. I was at Hunter's." Rosie said hugging him.
Fire chief came over. He had seen her pull into the driveway next door. "You live next door?" He asked
"Yes sir. I was at my dad's fiancé's place for the night. My dad is away for work." She said.
"Know anyone who would want that house burnt down?" He asked
"Um. Well. A lot of people. The man who owned it last. Not a good guy." Rosie said. "He had raped and molested a lot of girls in Canada before coming here and starting to do it here. Picked a wrong victim here." She said.
The police chief tilted his head.
"Me. My dad and people I call family are federal agents. They got to me before he got to far…" Rosie said
Nolan put his arms around her from behind.
"Your dad's name?" The chief asked
"David Rossi. I can give you his number. I don't think he knows about any of this yet." Rosie said
"That would be appreciated and your name?" He asked
"Rosie Rossi." She said also giving him Dave's number
"Your dad's fiancé around here somewhere?" He asked
"Um. No. I left without him." Rosie said but noticed his car pulling in next to hers. "But there he is now." She said
The police chief nodded and went over to Hunter, and they talked.
"Hunter let you come here alone?" Nolan asked
Rosie chuckled. "No. I left when he went to call someone to stay with his girls. Hayley is out for the day so he couldn't just leave them. Which is why I came alone."
Nolan shook his head. "You drove when you were obviously very upset?"
"I'm fine." She said
Nolan sighed and wrapped her in a hug. His girlfriend really frustrated him sometimes.
"Rosie Rossi." Hunter called to her clearly unimpressed.
Rosie scrunched up her face. Nolan let her go and turned her towards Hunter.
Rosie went to Hunter. He pulled her away from the chaos.
"Your dad and I just finished telling you yesterday that you had proved you were responsible enough for this car. And now you do what I specifically told you not to do because you are upset?" Hunter said
Rosie took a breath and nodded.
"Are you okay?" He asked
Rosie nodded.
"You sure?" Hunter asked
"Yes." Rosie said
"I need to know so that I can protect you. Do you know who did this? Someone who might want to get payback for you?" Hunter asked
"No! No one I know would do this. I promise." Rosie said
"Okay." Hunter said hugging her. Rosie hugged him
"Have you talked to dad?" Rosie asked
"Yes. With the fire chief." Hunter said
Rosie nodded
"We will call him later and there will be a long conversation. But for now, go with your friends." Hunter said
Rosie sighed and nodded before going back with her friends.
"How much trouble you in?" Cass asked
"Not sure. But what is the record for shortest time for a sixteen-year-old getting a car and than losing that car? Because I think I might be beating the record." Rosie said
Cass smiled and shook her head.
Nolan hugged her. "I'm sure it wont be permanent."
Rosie hugged him.
Police showed up on scene and started to make people leave.
Rosie said bye to her friends and went back over to Hunter.
"Time to go? Do you need to get anything from the house?" Hunter asked
"Yes. And no. I have everything I need." She said
Hunter nodded. "Okay. Straight back to the house."
Rosie nodded.
They both got in their cars and went back to his place. They both went inside, and Hunter paid the sitter and let her go.
Rosie went and sat on the couch. Sascha who had been hanging out with the other girls sensed she was back and went and found her and climbed up on the couch next to her and put his head in her lap. Rosie pet him. Hunter came into the room and sat on the coffee table.
"Ready to call dad?" Hunter asked
Rosie let out a breath and nodded wiping at the tears that were already forming.
Hunter grabbed her some tissue before he called Dave
Dave answered. "How are things going?"
"We are back at my place your on speaker." Hunter said
"Rosie. You okay?" Dave asked
"I mean. I don't know. Physically I'm fine. I just. I wanted that place to burn but I didn't actually want someone to do it…" Rosie said wiping at more tears.
"Yeah. There is an expression. Careful what you wish for." Hunter said
"Wait. What happens to it now when it comes to you selling it?" Rosie asked Hunter
"Well, an investigation needs to be done and clean up but after that the property will be sold the same as it would have been." Hunter said
"But that's not what this conversation is about." Dave said
"I'm sorry." Rosie sobbed out
Hunter moved to sitting next to her and wrapped his arms around her and held her. She calmed down after a few minutes.
"Okay. Lets try this again." Hunter said
Rosie nodded and took a breath. "I'm sorry."
"For?" Dave asked
"Disobeying Hunter." She said looking up at him.
"Rosie. Its not like you. Sure, you maybe have pushed boundaries but blatant disobedience that's not like you." Dave said
"I was scared…" Rosie said
"I get that." Dave said. "Okay. Question. You were obviously upset. Do you think your driving was affected because of it?" Dave asked
Rosie took a breath. "I don't know…" Rosie said
"Do you get why I was worried it might?" Hunter asked
Rosie nodded
"Why couldn't you wait? Ten minutes. It was ten minutes till I had the sitter here." Hunter said
Rosie looked down. "I don't know." She said wiping at more tears.
"That's not a very good answer." Dave said
"Well, I don't have a better one." She said a little louder before starting to pick at her finger nails.
"Alright. Don't need to raise your voice. We are talking to you calmly." Dave said
Rosie mumbled something under her breath.
"Excuse me?" Dave said
"Nothing." Rosie said hugging herself and rubbing at her arms.
"She said she feels like she is being ganged up against." Hunter said.
"Rose. That's not what this is." Dave said
"Well, its what it feels like." Rosie said she had calmed down.
"Why do you feel that way?" Hunter asked.
Rosie shrugged and started to crack her knuckles.
"That is so bad for your knuckles you shouldn't do that." Hunter said
Rosie stopped. "Sorry."
Dave took a breath. "Hunt? Is she fidgeting a lot?"
"Yeah. She is." Hunter said
"Rose. Did you forget to take something this morning?" Dave asked
Rosie let out a breath as she started to realize. "Yea…" She said
"What?" Hunter asked
"My ADHD meds…" Rosie said
Hunter nodded. "You can take them now?"
"Yes." Rosie said
Hunter went and got her some water. "Where are they?"
Rosie went into her bag and grabbed them and took the water and took it.
"How many days have you forgotten?" Dave asked
"Just this morning." Rosie said when she swallowed.
"When was the last time you forgot?" Dave asked
"Its been along time. Not since the very beginning." Rosie said
"Okay." Dave said
"How did you know?" Hunter asked Dave.
"Cracking her knuckles. She used to do that a lot before she was medicated and in therapy. She used to fidget a lot. It's a major symptom of ADHD. As well as risky behaviours. There was a couple things she did when she was first with me. Talking with her doctors its connected. I put it all together.
"You worked for hours with the girls on the computer this morning. Your focus was great." Hunter said
"The medication must not have worn off. I think I can figure out exactly when it was wearing off. Its why I had to stop. I couldn't focus anymore." Rosie said
"And you didn't think that it might be your meds?" Dave asked
"No. I didn't." Rosie said
"Okay." Dave said
"I think. Any time I have stayed over at someone's house since being on medication. You have always texted me in the morning to remind me to take them…" Rosie said
"I didn't today." Dave said
"No. And I think being in a different environment. Plus, not sleeping well last night." Rosie said "Everything is off."
"We will figure out something better for tonight." Hunter said
"It really is okay. I'll just kick Sascha off the couch." Rosie said
Dave chuckled "Good luck with that."
Rosie smiled abit before taking a breath. "Can we just discuss the consequences?"
Dave took a breath. "Medications taken or not. You knew not to disobey Hunter."
"Yes sir." Rosie said
"I think Hunter and I need to discuss this." Dave said
"I'll take Sascha for a walk." Rosie said
"Okay." Hunter said
Rosie got up and Sascha was quick to follow her. Rosie put his leash on and went for a walk with him. She came back about half an hour later. She unleashed Sascha who went to where his water dish was set up. Rosie filled up his water dish.
Hunter was in the kitchen starting dinner prep.
"Need any help?" She asked
"Sure." Hunter said giving her something to do.
Rosie started to help him.
"Dad and I talked. We know that your medication plays a big role in helping manage what seems to be pretty severe ADHD and yes had you not forgotten maybe you wouldn't have taken the risk you did. But in life there are consequences regardless. Your dad sees daily what happens when adults didn't get raised with proper discipline." Hunter said
Rosie nodded. "I know. There is no excuse to disobey you."
"I'm going to need your car keys." Hunter said
Rosie nodded. "How long?"
"A week." Hunter said
"Okay." Rosie said she went and got the keys and gave it to him before going back to helping him. She tried to hide the fact that she was tearing up.
"Rose. I know that this is the first time that you and I have had an issue. But this doesn't change anything right?" Hunter asked
"I know." Rosie said wiping away a tear.
Hunter put the knife he was using down. "Come here." He said opening his arms.
Rosie put down the spoon she was using and went over to her and hugged him sobbing into him.
Hunter held her and rubbed her back. She calmed down.
"Look at me." Hunter said
Rosie looked up at him.
"This isn't going to be the last time that you are going to do something you shouldn't and that you and I need to talk. We are going to disagree. I'm sure we will argue. But always know I'm someone safe you can talk to and come to with problems. And that no matter what you do. While yes there will be consequences I don't like having to dish them out. And I know your dad doesn't either." Hunter said
Rosie nodded and smiled abit.
"And when the conversation is done. There is no hard feelings. We have talked. Yes the consequence will be there for the week. But I'm not angry or upset. Okay?" Hunter said
Rosie nodded. "I know. I just. I don't get in trouble all that much."
"Yeah. I know. I think its why your dad was so surprised by this situation." Hunter said
Rosie nodded.
"And how he knew there was more going on than it appeared." Hunter said
Rosie nodded. "I hate that I need meds to keep me from doing stupid things."
"Its not your fault. Your brain is just wired differently. There are lots of teens who deal with things like this. Its not fair that you need meds but doesn't make you any less than those who don't." Hunter said
Rosie nodded. "Can I ask if any of your kids have anything like this?"
"Yes and don't think so." Hunter said
Rosie nodded.
They went back to making dinner.
Hayley came back inside. "I'm home." She called out
"Kitchen." Hunter called out to her.
Hayley came into the kitchen. She had a beanie on.
"New hat?" Hunter asked
"Yes. Its called a beanie papa." Hayley said
"Okay. I'm sorry. You bought a winter hat in the summer?" He asked
"Um. Yeah. It was on sale." She said
"Ooh. Okay. Good buy than. But why are you wearing it in summer?" He asked
"It's the style papa." She said
Rosie tried to cough to cover up the chuckle.
"I get it. I'm so uncool." Hunter said
Hayley looked at Rosie. Rosie looked at her with a raised eyebrow. Hayley realized Rosie figure it out.
Hunter saw the look and looked between the two girls. "What did I miss?"
"Nothing." Hayley said quickly
Rosie said nothing.
"Rosie." Hunter said
"I have nothing to say." Rosie said
"Okay. Last chance one of you is going to tell me what is going on." Hunter said looking between the girls.
"Nothing to say." Hayley said
Hunter looked at Rosie.
Rosie took a breath. She had already been in trouble today. She didn't want to be in more. But she also didn't want to tell on the girl who she was just starting to get along with. But she knew she was now the big sister and she needed to be a good example to the younger kids. "I- "
Hunter took a breath. He could tell Rosie was struggling to do the right thing and deciding what that was. "Hayley. Go to your room."
Hayley went quickly.
Hunter looked at Rosie.
"Whatever it is. Is it something you think I'm going to be upset about?" Hunter asked Rosie
"I don't know…" Rosie said.
Hunter tilted his head.
"Some parents would be. Others not." Rosie said
Hunter nodded "Okay."
"I can tell you are struggling with the right thing to do here. I know that you have worked really hard to get along with her and she has not made it easy, and I get you don't want to screw that up. Also know siblings sometimes don't want to rat out their siblings. But know I will find out. And you can either help make that easier or not. But you will be in trouble if you don't." Hunter said
Rosie let out a breath. "She is wearing the beanie in the summer, in the house. For a reason."
Hunter tilted his head and it clicked. "Oh. Yeah. Should have figured that one out. Thank you."
They finished making dinner and everyone was called down. When Hayley came down Hunter stopped her.
"Take the hat off." He said
"Why?" Hayley asked
"I'm not as clueless as you might think." He said taking it off her head gently. He saw the new piercing on the top of her right ear. "We will talk about it later but keep the hat off it needs the air to heal properly." He told her
Hayley nodded. "You figured it out?"
"I did." Hunter said
They all sat down and ate.
"That looks so cool" Callie said. "Can I do that dad?"
"Maybe when your thirteen." Hunter said
Callie looked at Rosie's ears. "You just have the one set of piercings?" She asked
"Yup." Rosie said
"You ever been interested in getting anything else?" Hunter asked
"My belly button. But dad says no." Rosie said
Hunter nodded.
"Would he let you get your ears pierced where Hayley did?" Hunter asked
"Yup. Told me I can get whatever piercings in my ears. No where else till I'm eighteen." Rosie said
Hunter nodded.
Callie looked at Hayley with a smirk "You didn't ask did you?"
"New conversation." Hunter said
Callie continued to smirk
"Callie and I started to look at ideas for your bedroom." Rosie said to Hayley. "Needs your ideas and input."
Hayley nodded. "Okay. I'll take a look after dinner."
They finished eating and cleaning up. Hunter and Hayley went and talked. Hayley was told no malls with her friends for two months since she went behind his back to do it. Hunter made sure she knew how to keep it clean and than Hayley came back into the kitchen.
"Can I see the pinterest?" Hayley asked
Rosie pulled it up. "How much trouble you in?"
"Grounded from the mall for two months." Hayley said
"Yikes." Rosie said
Hayley looked around. "You got your belly button pierced right?"
"No. I really didn't. My dad would find out." Rosie said
Hayley chuckled "Yeah. I guess they do tend to find out somehow all the time."
Rosie nodded. "They do." She showed her how to use pinterest.
"This is your computer right?" Hayley asked
"Yup. Got it before I started highschool. Need access to one on highschool and I'm not able to use dad's because he has sensitive stuff on it." Rosie said
Hayley nodded. "You could find out some really interesting stuff from his computer couldn't you?"
"I mean if I could get into it and had a wish to be grounded till I turned eighteen yeah I could." Rosie said with a chuckle.
Hayley laughed. "Fair."
"And I honestly don't want to. I have no need to know anything." Rosie said
Hayley nodded. And pinned some things for the room.
"Purple your favorite?" Rosie asked
"Yup. I'm guessing by your room. Pink and Green?" Hayley asked
"Yup." Rosie said
Callie came and sat with them and started to look at Hayley's ideas as well.
Hunter came into the room around 9pm.
"Okay. Think its time for you girls to get off the computer." He said
"I think we have more ideas than will ever fit in that room anyways." Hayley said
Rosie chuckled. "You can two can go though it another day and make final decisions." She closed out of pinterest and closed the computer.
"Callie. Go. Shower and get ready for bed. You have dance early tomorrow." Hunter said
Callie went to do so.
"It's a class not a recital or anything?" Hayley asked
"Yes." Hunter said.
"Cause I have boxing and I think Maddison has swim too." Hayley said
Hunter went and looked at the schedule. "Yes. She does…"
"Rosie offered to help you should take it." Hayley said.
"Not sure how much help I would be without being able to drive." Rosie said
Hayley looked at her.
"I think I broke any kind of record of how quickly a teen got grounded from their car after getting it." Rosie said
Hayley's eyes went wide. "What did you do?!"
"Not important Hayley." Hunter said. "Go. Find something to do."
Hayley went chuckling.
Rosie bit the inside of her mouth to keep from laughing. The situation wasn't funny, but she couldn't help it.
Hunter took a breath.
"I can take one of them by taxi?" Rosie offered
Hunter's phone went off with a text and he looked at it and sighed.
"Not about dad?" Rosie asked
"No. Tennis practice has been added for Mackenzie tomorrow morning as well." Hunter said.
"Oh. Ever have days like this before?" She asked
"Yes. But usually, their mom takes one or two of them. She is out of town." Hunter said
Hunter texted Dave.
'Thought only one of the girls had extra curriculars tomorrow morning. But its four of the six. Rosie offered to help take one by taxi and if it was just one it would probably be fine but I'm not sure I will be able to take the other three and all get there on time and with a taxi I don't think she could get two on time either. How wrong is it to go back on a grounding with her? Just for the one morning.' Hunter asked
Dave saw the text and sighed. He had a moment, so he called.
Hunter answered, "Hi Dave." He said leaving the room so they could talk more in private.
"All of the classes and such start at the same time?" Dave asked
"Yes. All start at 8am. And in four complete different parts of town. Shortest drive time between places is fifteen minutes. If traffic isn't bad." Hunter said
Dave took a breath.
"And usually when this happens their mom can take a couple but with her being out of town." Hunter said
"I get it Hunt. I don't see any other real options either." Dave said
"What do we do so its not seemingly like she is getting away with it?" Hunter asked
"Take the phone where ever she is and put it on speaker." Dave said
Hunter did so.
"You're on speaker." Hunter said
"This is a one-time allowance because Hunter is in a real situation here and needs help. You can use the car to take whichever two he thinks is best to their lessons. To the lessons and back to Hunter's. Nothing else. Is that understood?" Dave asked his daughter
"Yes sir." Rosie said
"You do anything else. And I will know if you did. You will not be allowed to drive the car for a long time." Dave said
"Understood. To the lessons and back to Hunter's promise." Rosie said
"Okay." Dave said
"Love you both." Dave said.
"Love you too dad." Rosie said
"Love you Dave." Hunter said before they hung up.
"I wont let you down." Rosie said to Hunter.
Hunter smiled at her. "I know."
"You can take Hayley and Maddison." He told her giving her the addresses. "You know how to use the GPS you will need it for Hayley's boxing gym for sure."
"Yes." Rosie said taking the paper with the addresses. "They both need to be there for 8. Drop Hayley off first by 7:40 and you should be fine to get to Maddison's swim by 8:00."
"Okay." Rosie said. "Do I need to stay and watch Maddison swim?"
"Yes. You will need to. I will call her coach in the morning let her know who you are otherwise it will raise some questions. If any of the other parents question who you are just tell them who you are, and they should be fine. If they have any doubts they will just text me" Hunter said
"Okay." Rosie said with a smile
"You should leave here at probably around 7:15 at the latest." Hunter said
"Okay." Rosie said
"Any questions?" Hunter asked
"Am I picking Hayley up after as well?" Rosie asked
"Yes. Maddison's swim is an hour. By the time she finishing in the change room it will be probably close to if not after 9:30am she is okay to change and such on her own so don't worry about that. Hayley's class ends at 10 so you will have plenty of time to get to her. And they will both ask you to stop at starbucks. The answer is no." Hunter said, "Any other questions?"
Rosie chuckled "No starbucks got it and Nope. I think I got it all." Rosie said
"There is a little canteen in the watch area for the swim if you need caffeine." Hunter told her
Rosie nodded. "Okay."
"Now its going to be a long morning for you and you had a long day. Do I need to tell you to get ready for bed?" He asked
Rosie chuckled. "I will do that." She said. She went and grabbed her stuff and went and showered and got ready for bed.
She came out into the living room and Hunter had added a dog bed in the living room.
Rosie smiled.
"Figured it might help keep him off the couch." Hunter said
Rosie smiled and shrugged. "Certainly wont hurt to try. Thank you."
Hunter smiled. "Of course."
Sascha was already on the dog bed. Rosie pet his head. "You need to go out one last time?"
"I just took his out." Hunter said
"Oh. Okay. Thank you." Rosie said with a smile
"Get some sleep." He said.
"Good night." She said with a smile.
"Good night." He said
The house was already quiet. Rosie was the last kid to get to sleep. She set her alarm for 6:30 before plugging it in and going to sleep.
