Dave got home early morning and went and went to Hunter's and let himself in. He went to Rosie on the couch first and kissed her head. Rosie woke up abit.
"Hey Bambina," He said
"Dad!" She said sitting up and hugging him.
Dave hugged her. "I heard how helpful you have been. I'm so proud of you." He said
Rosie smiled. "I think I needed to after the car thing."
Dave sat her down and bend down, so he was at eye level with her. "Rose. That is done. Don't hold on to that guilt okay?"
Rosie nodded. "Hunter told you?"
"Yes. He tells me everything like I would." Dave said.
Rosie smiled and nodded. As her eyes adjusted to the light she saw a bandage on his head.
She looked concerned. "You tell him about that?" She asked pointing to it.
"Not yet." Dave said
"What happened?" Hunter asked coming into the room
Dave got up and went over to him giving him a kiss.
Hunter kissed him. "Tell me please."
"Got cut. Not bad. No stitches just a bandage." He said
Hunter touched it gently. "And you didn't tell me because?"
"I wanted to tell you in person so you can see I am okay." Dave said
Hunter nodded abit.
"Promise I am okay." Dave said
"Did uncle Aaron make you go to the hospital?" Rosie asked
"No. Because it was minor." Dave said
"If he didn't make him so than it isn't that bad." Rosie told Hunter
Hunter smiled. "Okay."
"Back to sleep for you." Dave told his daughter with a smile
"Yes dad." She said
Hunter took Dave and they went upstairs. Rosie curled back up on the couch and went back to sleep.
"What happened?" Hunter asked
"I told you." Dave said smiling softly at his fiancé
"You told me what I accepted in front of our sixteen-year-old." Hunter said
Dave's smile grew at 'ours'. He knew he had found the right man not just for himself but for his daughter too.
"That smile isn't going to save you from an explanation." Hunter said
"Chasing a suspect. Things were being throw in our way. A bookcase full of books was pushed down. The guy was on LSD so super strength. One of the books flew off and the corner hit my head. Minor." Dave said
Hunter nodded. "Okay."
"Can I shower now?" Dave asked
Hunter nodded. "Go." He said
Dave went. He came back into the room about twenty minutes later and got into bed with his fiancé.
"Anything happen here that you didn't tell me?" Dave asked
"No." Hunter said
Dave could tell by the other man's voice that he was thinking about things "You're upset I didn't tell you about this earlier."
"Yes." Hunter said point blank.
Dave took a breath. "I'm sorry. If it had been serious you would have known."
Hunter nodded abit and touched the spot on his head.
"I promise I am okay." Dave said
"Dave I have accepted that you have a job with risks. But I cant accept not being told when things happen. No matter how minor. You get a papercut I want to know." Hunter said with a smile. He was exaggerating a bit but wanted to get his point across.
"Okay. I promise you know as soon as I can tell you." Dave said
"Okay." Hunter said. "Than I can forgive you for this." He said with a smile.
That was enough for talking for now. Because they both wanted the same thing. To make love before falling into a blissful sleep.
They woke up the next morning hearing laughing coming from downstairs.
"Good morning." Dave said to Hunter.
Hunter smiled. "Morning."
"Sounds like we are missing out on something." Dave said
"Don't care." Hunter said with a chuckle
Dave chuckled and put an arm around his fiancé.
They stayed curled up together till there was a yelp in the kitchen.
Both of them got up quickly throwing on clothes and running downstairs to find Rosie running Callie's hand under water. Callie was in tears
"Cut or burn?" Dave asked going towards the first aid kit, but Hayley was already there grabbing the ointment and a bandage.
"Burn." Rosie said. "My fault." She said
"No it was mine." Hayley said quickly
"Was it intentional?" Hunter asked
"No." Rosie and Hayley both said
"Than no ones at fault. Accidents happen." Dave said coming over to the sink. "Let me see."
Rosie turned the tap off and Dave grabbed a paper towel and gently dried it looking at it. "Minor. Nothing to worry about will heal with time." He said before he let Hayley do what she was already planning on doing.
"What happened exactly?" Hunter asked
"I was cooking." Rosie said.
"And Maddy and I were fooling around…" Callie said as the bandage was put on.
"I told them to get away from the stove." Rosie said, "And I walked away from the stove to check my phone.." Rosie said
"But asked me to keep an eye on the stove." Hayley said
"And Maddy and I didn't stay away like we were told…" Callie said
"Rose and Hals not your fault at all. They were told to stay away." Dave said
"Callie and Maddison you both know better than to fool around in the kitchen especially when cooking is going on." Hunter said
"Sorry." The both said
"Thankfully this was a minor injury but could have been so much worse." Hunter said
They both nodded looking really sorry.
Hunter gave them each a hard swat.
Both whimpered and scurried to their seats.
"What you making?" Dave asked.
"Omelets." Rosie said
"And toast." Hayley said
Dave smiled. "Smells good."
As soon as food was ready they all sat down and ate.
"What happened to your head?" Hayley asked Dave
"A cut. Minor. Nothing to worry about." Dave told her with a smile.
"Don't expect any more explanation than that." Rosie said with a smirk
"There is nothing more to explain." Dave said
"So all we had to say was it was a burn? Didn't have to explain what happened?" Rosie asked
"Rosie. You know its different." Hunter said
Rosie sighed. "I just don't get why."
"Because you are the kids. Now drop it." Dave said
Rosie shut up knowing she was pushing her luck.
Food was finished and Dave and Hunter cleared up the table.
"Everyone dress in clothes that you don't care if are ruined. We are going to Dave's to start painting." Hunter said
They all did so. Rosie picked up her stuff and put it all in the bag.
Dave watched her from the door arms crossed.
Rosie looked. "Okay. I know. I pushed it. I'm sorry."
"Come here." He said.
Rosie took a breath and went over to him.
He wrapped her in a hug.
Rosie wasn't expecting that, but she hugged him back.
"Rose. I get you worry. But do you really need to know the detail? Isn't all that matters that I'm okay?" Dave asked
"Well yes. But you expect me to explain exactly what happened when I get hurt or something." Rosie said
"But that is because you are a minor and my responsibility. When you are an adult I wont expect detail. I wont be upset if I get them but until you are fully responsible for your own life I need to know details." Dave said
Rosie nodded. "I get it. But don't like it."
Dave took a breath. "Running after a suspect. Who was on a drug that makes a person have super human strength. He pushed a bookcase full of books towards us to block us. A book flew off and hit my head."
Rosie nodded. "LSD?"
"How do you know that?" He asked
"TV." Rosie said.
Dave nodded "Okay. Yes. But we got the guy, and I got a minor cut. I don't want you to worry about it."
"Okay. I'll try." Rosie said with a smile
Dave kissed her head. "You packed up everything?"
"Yes. I think so." Rosie said
Dave nodded. "You take your meds this morning?"
"Yes." Rosie said
"You haven't missed another day?" He asked
"No. Hunter has been making sure." Rosie said
Dave smiled and nodded.
Rosie zipped up her duffle bag that had been well loved
"That bag has seen better days hasn't it?" Dave asked
Rosie nodded. "I've used it a lot."
"It came with you from California right?" Dave asked
Rosie nodded.
"Who bought it for you?" Dave asked
"Um. Long story." Rosie said
Dave tilted his head. "How can giving me a name be a long story?"
"You wont know the name." Rosie said
"Same person who taught you to dive? And taught you what you knew about photography?" Dave asked. She had always been very secretive about who that had been.
Rosie took a breath.
"Was it someone you had a crush on?" Dave asked
Rosie chuckled. "No."
"Than who?" Dave asked
Scarlet came running into the room giggling.
"Scarlet. Come here. Now." They heard Hunter call from the top of the stairs.
Dave raised an eyebrow at the girl who was giggling. "No!" She said
Dave moved quickly and grabbed the girl and carried her upstairs as she squirmed.
Rosie let out a breath. She knew that the conversation would come up again, but she was glad it had been cut off for now.
Once everyone was ready Hunter handed Rosie her keys. "Straight home." He told her
"Got it." She said.
They all piled into the three vehicles and drove to the big house.
Dave saw the house next door for the first time. It was down to the ground. Whatever had caused that fire had done so much damage and it made Dave abit nervous. He knew it had been started intentionally and right next door to his home with his daughter and soon his fiancé and six more girls whom he had grown to love as much as Rosie would be in that home too.
They all went inside and soon the team all showed up. Rosie had changed into work clothes.
Rosie was in the twins room with a couple people working on painting their room.
"How's the new car?" JJ asked. "You been using it a lot?"
"My dad didn't tell you?" Rosie asked
"Tell us what?" Derek asked.
"I've lost 99% of car privileges for a week." She said
Derek laughed. "How quick did that happen? And what did you do?"
"Not funny." Rosie sulked abit
"She's right. She must have done something pretty serious." JJ said
"What did you do?" Derek asked calming down some.
"My friends texted me when the fire was happening next door and when I saw it I kind of lost it. Um. I needed to come make sure out home was okay. And Hunter told me to wait for him to drive me because I was visibly upset, and he didn't want me driving upset because I'm not very experienced. But he needed to get someone to come stay with the littles because Hals was out already with her friend. Well he went to make a call and I left… I drove here myself." Rosie said
Derek and JJ nodded
"Doesn't sound like a decision that -you would make." Spencer said coming into the room with another brush. He had gone to get a brush for doing the trim of the room.
"Wasn't the smartest move on my part I admit. I wasn't thinking clearly." Rosie said
"So what is the 1% that you can use the car?" JJ asked
"Well the day after it all happened four of the six of them had a class or sport thing to get to at the same time. Hunter would not have been able to take them all. Their mom was out of town, so Hunter was on his own. I was allowed to drive two of them to lessons and home. And I was allowed to drive the car home today. But that's basically it I think." Rosie said
"Ah. So a situation where there was no other option. And to get it home." Derek said
"Right." Rosie said
"We all do things as teenagers we shouldn't do." JJ said sensing the girl felt bad
Rosie nodded.
"She's right." Derek said
"Well I didn't." Spencer said
"That's because you weren't normal Einstein." Derek said with a smirk
"Derek! That's not nice!" Rosie said
"He's just upset that I will always outsmart him. And at the rate you're going I wouldn't be surprised if you beat him in the intelligence level soon." Spencer said smirking
"Spence!" JJ said
"Oh. Really pretty boy you think so?" Derek said
"Just a fact. My IQ is higher than yours." Spencer said shrugging
JJ and Rosie shook their heads and rolled their eyes at the two men acting like brothers.
"Boys behave or I will ground you both." JJ said
Rosie giggled.
They finished the room pretty quickly between the four of them. Rosie went downstairs to get water for everyone.
"Your phone keeps going off." Hayley told her from the table where she was with the younger kids doing a crafts project to keep them out of everyone's hair.
Rosie had plugged her phone in the kitchen when she went to start painting. She went and looked at it and sighed shaking her head.
"Everything okay?" Aaron asked. Having come into the kitchen for water as well.
Rosie showed him a string of nasty texts from Paige.
"She's still going at it." Aaron said shaking his head.
"Yup. Well this is the first time after the other night." Rosie said
Aaron nodded. "I'll make a call."
"Thank you." Rosie said
"Of course." He said
"Was a call already made about the other night?" Rosie asked
"Yes. Your dad did." Aaron said
"What's going on?" Hayley asked
"A former friend who isn't supposed to be texting me is doing so and is being nasty." Rosie told her
"Oh." Hayley said
"Its going to be handled." Aaron told Rosie
"I know." Rosie said. She grabbed water for everyone Aaron helped her bring them up to everyone working.
"You want to tell your dad, or you want me too?" Aaron asked
"I'll do it. Don't think it really matters but he prefers to hear things from me." Rosie said
Aaron nodded. "Okay."
Rosie stuck her head into the little girls room where her dad, Hunter, and Alex were working.
"Um. Sorry to interrupt. Have waters for everyone." She said holding them up. The three came over and took one bottle thanking her.
"Um. Uncle Aaron is handling it but thought you two would like to know. Gotten more texts from Paige…" Rosie said to her dad and Hunter.
Dave sighed. "Nice or nasty texts?"
"Nasty." Rosie said
"Okay. You okay?" Dave asked
"I'm fine." Rosie said flatly
"Okay." Dave said not believing her at all but wasn't going to push it right now.
"How is the twins room coming?" Hunter asked
"Done." Rosie said
"We are pretty much done in here too." Dave said. "Can you go see how Hals and Cals room is coming?"
"Can do." Rosie said going to that room where Aaron, Penny, and Will were working.
"I've been asked to see how its coming." Rosie said
"Were on the last coat." Penny said.
Rosie smiled. "Looks good. I think they are going to love it."
"Definitely very cool colors." Penny said with a smile
"Yeah. It's a good thing that those colors while different go well together. Those two are so different." Rosie said
"Well it's the biggest room so they will have lots of space for privacy." Penny said
"Yeah. They have some partition things that are going in here." Rosie said
"You helped them design it?" Aaron asked
"Yes." Rosie said
"You could go into design with how well you seem to do with it. I mean your room is really well done too." Penny said
"I like doing it, but I think if I made it a career I wouldn't." Rosie said
Penny smiled and nodded
"Well I should go inform the boss how its coming." Rosie said
"I'm the boss." Aaron said with a smirk
Rosie, Penny, and Will laughed.
"At work yes but I dare you to go say that to my dad about here." Rosie said with a smirk
Aaron chuckled. "Go tell him how its coming."
Rosie went and told her dad. "They are on the last coat."
"Okay." Dave said.
"Should we order pizza?" Rosie asked
"Yes." Dave said with a smile
Dave went and ordered pizza for the group to be delivered.
"Are the rooms done?" Callie asked
"Being painted your is almost done the rest are done." Rosie said
"Can I go look now?" Callie asked
"Once its done." Hunter said coming into the room.
Rosie went back to her phone taking it off the charge and sighed.
"How many more?" Dave asked
"A lot." Rosie said showing her dad.
"Do you know how to block a number?" Dave asked
"I don't." Rosie said
Dave took her phone and blocked the number for her. "Don't delete these texts but you also don't need to read them." He said before giving her, her phone back.
Rosie nodded.
"I'm not going to tell you not to, but I don't think it will do anything good for your mental health to do so." Dave said
"Okay." Rosie said
There was a knock at the door. Dave got to the door at the same time as Aaron. And there was an argument about who would be paying.
Hunter shook his head and came up from behind.
"Thank you. Sorry you have to deal with these two. I know you don't get paid enough." Hunter said handing the delivery guy cash with a nice tip before either other man could argue it.
The pizzas were grabbed and brought into the kitchen.
Rosie had pulled out paper plates and cup and drinks for everyone.
Everyone came and ate.
"I think you found yourself a man who will actually out stubborn you." Aaron told Dave
Hunter smirked and Dave shook his head.
Rosie left the kitchen and went up to her room and sat on her window seat and hugged her knees.
Sascha had been in her room all day staying away from the chaos. He climbed up onto the bench with her and nuzzled her arm.
Rosie put her arm around Sascha and let tears fall.
Sascha whined and tried to make Rosie feel better by nuzzling her.
"I'm okay Sascha." She said softly.
"You sure?" JJ asked from the door.
Rosie looked up.
"Didn't mean to pry. Your door was opened." JJ said
"Its okay." Rosie said wiping at her eyes
"I noticed you leave the group looking a bit down. Thought you might want a woman to talk to." JJ said
Rosie shrugged.
JJ sat across from her. "You'll feel better if you talk about it."
Rosie handed her over her phone and JJ looked at the texts and shook her head. They were really nasty. Making comments about some pictures that had been on social media and how Rosie looked in them. Comments about a picture Rosie had posted of Dave and Hunter.
"Has your dad seen these texts?" JJ asked
"Some of them. I don't think he has taken the time yet to read them all." Rosie said
"I know you know there is nothing wrong with your dad and Hunter's relationship so I'm guessing the ones that are making you upset are the ones about your body." JJ said
Rosie nodded.
"Rosie. You are perfect. There is nothing wrong with any part of who you are." JJ said
Rosie nodded abit.
"Rosie. I mean it." JJ said
Rosie nodded abit her stomach growled.
JJ took a breath. "You need to eat."
"Not hungry." Rosie said
"Well I know your lying. So you have two options. Come downstairs and eat. Or I will bring you up food." JJ said
"Guessing either way you will be telling my dad…" Rosie said
JJ took a breath. "Do you want to beat this disease?"
Rosie nodded.
"So you need help to do it. And that means your dad needs to know when you are struggling." JJ said. "Because yes I want to help which is why I'm here but I'm not with you everyday the way your dad is."
Rosie nodded abit
"So. Why don't you come down and eat. We can talk to him together after okay?" JJ asked
Rosie nodded. She got up and the two went downstairs Sascha following.
Rosie grabbed a slice of pizza and a bottle of water and sat and ate. JJ kept an eye on her to make sure she did.
Will went over to her. "Everything okay?" He asked
"Rosie has been through so much and its never ending." JJ told him
Will nodded.
An hour or so later people started to head out.
"I'm going to take the six and get them home. Been a long day. They need to get to bed." Hunter told Dave.
Dave nodded. "Soon we will all be here." He said with a smile
Hunter smiled and nodded. "And I cant wait."
The two kissed and Hunter left with the kids.
Dave looked at Will and JJ. "I know that look." He said to JJ "What's wrong?"
Will took Henry and went to get him buckled in the car.
JJ looked at Rosie.
"Don't know if you noticed. Some of the texts Paige sent. Were commenting on pictures I have on social media. I don't know how she saw them. But some were pictures of you and Hunter." Rosie said
"Let her say what she is going to say." Dave said
"Keep going." JJ told Rosie
"That didn't bother me much. I know her opinion and I don't care cause you two are so happy and it makes me happy. But…" Rosie said looking down
"Rose. Tell me please." Dave said
"I had some picture of me from when Hunter and all, them were here in the pool and such. She made comments about how I looked…" Rosie said
"Called her fat." JJ said knowing the girl wasn't going to say it. "I saw she was upset and left the room. Found her in her room. Took some encouragement to come back down and eat. She tried to claim she wasn't hungry."
Dave nodded. "Okay. Thank you JJ. I appreciate making sure I know."
JJ nodded and hugged Rosie. "Remember what I said. You are perfect. And I'm going to go. Get the little guy to bed." She said bye to Dave giving him a hug as well before heading out.
Dave led his daughter to her room. Rosie sat in her window seat and looked out the window. Dave sat next to her.
"Can I see your phone please?" He asked
Rosie gave it to him.
Dave took the time to go through all the texts and made sure to screen shot them and send them to himself.
"Okay. Did you do what I suggested you don't and read them all?" Dave asked
"Yes sir." Rosie said
"You can drop the sir your not in trouble." Dave said
Rosie nodded.
"I suggested you didn't because I knew it was better you didn't, but I knew you were going to." Dave said
"Oh." She said
"Bambina. You are struggling. Its expected with anorexia. But you cant let the words of some girl who was never really your friend get to you. Do you know why she sent this in a text and not publicly on your social media?" Dave asked
Rosie shrugged.
"Because she is a coward. And she knows that you have a lot of friends if she is seeing your social media. And they would likely quickly come to your defence if they saw hate comments on your social media." Dave said
Rosie smiled.
"It scares me to think what Cass or Taylor would say to her if she commented where they could see." He said with a smile
Rosie giggled.
"When is your next therapy appointment?" Dave asked
"Tomorrow actually." Rosie said
"Good. Talk to him about all this." Dave said
"Actually. He wants to book a session with you. And Hunter if I want him there too." Rosie said
"Okay. I'll talk to Hunter and your therapist." Dave said, "Make an appointment."
Rosie nodded.
"Anything I should know about why he wants this appointment?" Dave asked
"No. Its pretty normal to involve parents in sessions to talk about progress and moving forward." Rosie said
"Okay." Dave said. "So. I'm going to ask you. Did you eat tonight? I have to admit I wasn't watching."
"Had a piece of pizza." Rosie said
Dave nodded. "Was that really enough? There is pizza left. Or there is some salmon salad in the fridge from last night."
Rosie nodded.
"Come on. Lets get you something." Dave said
Rosie got up and went with him.
She grabbed a piece of pizza and warmed it up abit before sitting down and eating it slowly.
"How are your friends? Nolan?" Dave asked
"Not sure. Something is going on and they aren't talking to me." Rosie said
Dave looked at her. "What do you mean?"
"Since the fire. None of them have texted me. I have texted all of them and I get responses, but they are all 'busy' and Nolan told me there is something going on but that he cant tell me." Rosie said
"Do you know that it was intentionally started?" He asked
"Yes. Hunter asked me if I knew anyone who would do that for me. And I don't think any of my friends would do that for some sort of revenge for me." Rosie said.
Dave nodded.
Rosie finished the piece of pizza.
Dave looked across the table at her. "So who bought you the duffle bag?" he asked
Rosie sighed. "Damn."
"You thought I would forget?" Dave asked
"Wishful thinking." She said
Dave smiled. "You know if the Long's bought it for you and you want to keep it because of some point of good times I'm not going to be upset right?"
"I know. It wasn't them. They actually lost their shit on me for having it and for someone else buying it for me." Rosie said
Dave shook his head. "So a gift. Not Lexi or Paige or their parents?"
"No." Rosie said
"The parent of one of the kids you babysat out there?" Dave asked
"No." Rosie said
"Someone else who was part of the religion?" Dave asked
Rosie took a breath.
"Okay. Why don't you want me to know who it is?" Dave asked
"Because I cant talk about him without feeling so sad." Rosie said in tears.
"Because you miss him?" Dave asked
Rosie nodded.
"Would he talk to you if you called him? or we went to visit him?" Dave asked
"I think he would…" Rosie said in tears. "But he cant." Her voice cracking
Dave let out a breath. "When did he pass?"
"A few months before the amusement park." Rosie sobbed out.
Dave got up and went around the table and knelt down and wrapped his arms around her and held her. Rosie sobbed into him for a few minutes. When she calmed some she pulled apart. Dave wiped away some of her tear.
Rosie took a breath. "Sorry." She said
"You have nothing to be sorry for." He said
"Well. I technically lied to you." She said
Dave tilted his head.
"When Caroline passed you asked me if I had ever gone to a funeral, and I told you no that I never lost anyone." Rosie said
Dave nodded. "I knew you were lying. I just didn't say anything because I figured there was a story that you would come to me about when you were ready. I'm not upset"
Rosie smiled abit. "I hate that you knew and didn't tell me."
"So you would have rather I called you out than?" Dave asked
Rosie shrugged.
"I only call you out on the lying when I think its something that cant wait. If I think its something that can wait till you are ready to come to me about I want to wait. I want you to come to me when you are ready for things like this because I want you to know you can come to me about anything." Dave said
Rosie nodded. "Okay."
"So do you want to talk to me about who this man was?" Dave asked
Rosie shook her head.
"Okay. Well when you are ready. As for the bag. We can try and get it fixed?" Dave said
Rosie shook her head. "Its just a bag."
"Okay." Dave said
Rosie went into the freezer and moved a few things and pulled out a chocolate bar. She sat at the table and Dave raised an eyebrow. "How long has that been in there?"
"Um. Awhile. Months." Rosie said
She broke off a piece and offered it to him.
Dave took it. "You like frozen chocolate?"
"Just this kind." Rosie said
Dave nodded.
They shared the chocolate bar. Internally Dave was screaming happily. He hadn't seen her eat chocolate since before the eating disorder had been triggered. He figured that had to be real progress.
When they were done. Rosie looked at him. "I'm going to shower and go to bed. I'm sore from painting."
"Okay." Dave said
Rosie went and took a shower and crashed. Her dog climbed on the bed with her. Rosie had missed snuggling her dog the last couple days when she was sleeping on a couch.
