The Missing Sun
Chapter Five
Enough talk everyone, for it is time to bust heads.
Helen aimed her bow, unleashing arrow after arrow at the cloaked people as Janet jumped over her head with her staff slamming and smacking one cloaked person and smacking a few others with the bottom of her staff.
Percy and Artemis ran towards a dozen of the cloaked people. Clicking the top of his pen, Percy's sword formed as she sliced and kicked a few with Artemis coming up behind him taking out the rest.
Jessica's eyes narrowed as she emerged from the shadows. He watched everyone fighting until she laid eyes on, Helen her bright yellow aura. Glancing over at Percy and Artemis, she smiled as she slipped past them. Pulling out her sword the moment she had a clear shot, she charged toward Helen.
Kicking another cloaked person out of the way, Janet eyes noticed a hoodless woman charging toward Helen. She tried to make her way over there, only to be held up by two cloaked women with the sword drawn.
"Helen behind you!" Janet shouted before fighting the two women in front of her.
Hearing this, Helen stepped to the side, only to have the sword rip a hold in her shirt as she stumbled backwards on a book. Turning around, Jessica smiled as she held a sword to Helen's neck, who looked up at her.
"Oh, I am going to love this,"
Before Jessica could do anything, Janet charged toward her, pushing her out of the way as she helped Helen up on her feet and stood in front of her.
"You okay dear?"
"Yes , Ma'am Helen replied.
Helen's eyes narrowed as she spun around, blocking Jessica's sword that had just missed the top of her head. Pushing her back, Janet kicked her, causing Jessica to snarl in anger.
Janet's eyes flickered before kicking the woman again and stand back in front of Helen. Rising to her feet, Jessica balled up her fist as she grip the hilt of her sword tighter.
"That is enough, Jessica," Janet said, narrowing her eyes.
"Out of the way Clairvoyant, Jessica seethed.
"If you know that much, then you must know I am not going anywhere,"
Shaking her head, Jessica moved forward, only for Janet to smack the sword away and punch her in the face. Stumble backwards, Jessica snapped her fingers as a dozen of her hooded minions stood in front of her. While more walked out from the shadows.
Percy and Artemis joined Janet as they stood in front of Helen. Glancing at the both of them, Janet pulled out a small gold horn.
"Get them out of here. I've got this," Jane said, looking to Artemis.
Sething her sword, Artemis laid one hand on Percy's shoulder and the other on Helen. Looking to Artemis, then to Janet, she wanted to protest. But Janet merely shook her head.
"Worry, not young one, we shall meet again." Janet replied.
Within in a few moments, a green aura formed around Percy, Helen and Artemis. The moment Artemis blinked, they disappeared. Upon seeing them leave, Jessica looked in Janet's direction. Jessica laughed as more of her hooded brothers and sisters circled around her Janet.
"There is no one you can win this," Jessica said
"Oh, I think there is." Janet said as she put the horn up to her.
lips.
Blowing the horn, a light engulfed the library as the ground shook. When the light disappeared, there stood over countless librarians with their weapons drawn, ready to fight.
Jessica's eyes widen as she took a few steps back while Janet and the librarians moved forward.
"Now my dear, it's time for you to witness the truth strength of the golden sun," Janet said before charging forward her fellow librarians.
Meanwhile, standing alone looking around her, Helen didn't know what to do. The last thing she remembered was fighting in the library before being whisked away by Artemis. Wait, Percy was with her. Where was she now, and what about Artemis and Percy? The more she thought about, the more fear rose within her.
"They are safe and so are you, so relax." A familiar voice echoed all around her.
Warmth tickled across Helen's skin while the smell of burned cinders tickled her nose. Taking a step back, she noticed a yellow, orange light inching closer towards her. It steadily formed into a man with golden blond hair and sea-blue eyes wearing a toga with a yellow sash and golden sandals.
"..Apollo...I mean father, sorry."
"That's alright. I have to get use to calling you daughter so we're both in the same boat." Apollo replied with a smile.
Uh, you don't walk around like that, do you?"
Apollo looked down at his clothes." Oh no, I wear this."
Snapping his fingers, Apollo's toga morphed into a yellow, orange jumpsuit with a white t-shirt exposed. Helen chuckled, shaking her head.
Apollo merely smiled. "Since we have a little time I know you have questions you want to ask me"
"Well, first thing first, where are we?"
"The dreamworld, you asleep right now hence the perfect time to come and say hello."
Helen nodded. Looking away from him, Helen took a deep breath. She had over a billion of questions she wanted to ask her father, but there was no way to ask them all now, so as she looked back at her father, she took a long deep breath.
"What was my mother like?"
Apollo's eyes widen for a moment before returning to normal. He never thought he would have to answer this question, but he cleared his throat and opened his mouth.
"Calm and comforting," she had a smile that could light up your heart. I met her at the Golden Sun. She was a librarian. She's good at find books and keeping everything in order. Apollo paused. Why do you ask?"
"Because I was told she died when I was a toddler."
"Strange, for I can feel she is very much alive."
Helen sighed. Looking back at Apollo, she noticed the surrounding darkness changing. Damp rocks surrounded them, with one small window and a door with bars across it. Apollo was no longer standing in front of her, but chained to the wall. As she moved closed, she noticed the chains give off a strange glow as Apollo winced.
From his ripped T-shirt to slashed up jumpsuit and bare feet along with a mixture of bruises. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
"This place, this is where you are?"
"Yes..." Apollo said, thought his teeth as another wave of pain surged through his body.
Helen continued to star at the chains with each glow Apollo greet his teeth. Soon, the door opened. Helen hid behind a rock.
Peaking out, Helen saw a woman with brown hair wearing a black shirt and pants with a spiked whip in her hand.
"Cassie, so you're the one to administer my punishment today. I'm flattered." Apollo goated.
The woman clacked the white smacked it across his face. Cassie's ears twitched. Turning around, she looked at the rock for a moment before turning back around. Helen was glad she couldn't see her, but wouldn't forget those seething green eyes.
"You won't get away with this," Apollo said.
"Oh, I already have and when this is over you will bow to me." Cassie replied.
Apollo glanced over to the rock, looking Helen in her eyes.
Remember everything
Feeling light, Helen looked down at her hands as she heard another voice echo around her.
Helen, wake up
A gasp escaped Helen's lips as she opened her eyes and sat up. Gone was the stone cell as a warm breeze welcomed her.
Looking around, Helen noticed the vast meadow. She looked up a realizing she was under an enormous tree. Feeling something under her hand, Helen looked down at a sketch book and color pencils.
"Artemis said you might want to draw something when you wake up," Percy said.
Opening the sketchbook on her lap while pulling out a few of the color pencils, Helen nodded. Her eyes flickered the moment the pencil touched the paper.
"I had a dream that didn't feel like a dream." Helen said as she continued drawling. "Apollo was there. We talked a little, but after a while he wanted me to obverse.
Percy nodded as he sat down beside her. "Ah, I had dreams like that before.
Helen grew quiet. Percy leaned in, noticing how detailed Helen's drawing was. But it was the aura that took him by surprise. The more detailed the drawling became, the brighter her aura became.
Artemis laid a hand on Percy's should which caused him to look up at her.
"When we were little, my brother would come to this meadow and sit under this very tree. With a sketchbook in hand, he would draw such amazing things. He called it his little get away."
"You knew she would draw something when she woke up." Percy said.
"I had a feeling she is special among his children." Artemis said.
"Why?"
"She is 25% human and 75% God."
Percy's eyes widen. "I am surprised she's not at Mount Olympus.
"Likewise, but there is a reason for everything."
Putting the color pencils away, Helen rose to her feet. She handed the book over to Artemis.
"Remember Everything that's what he told me," Helen said to Artemis.
Nodding, Artemis looked over each drawing as she walked away, While Percy and Helen leaned on the trunk of the tree.
"I've traveled to countless places, running so many errands for the library. I never thought I would be the woman to save my father." Helen said.
"Adventures start when you least expect it, Percy paused. "How are you feeling about all of this?"
"I am still taking it all in, but I learned something.
"Oh?"
"Yes, something personal."
"You don't have to say if you don't want to."
"Lets just say I have some questions for Janet when I see her again."
Nodding, the two grew silent as Artemis leaned on the trunk between them.
"The location doesn't look familiar to me, yet I feel as if I have been here before. Artemis said before pointing to the woman in the drawling. "Who is she?"
"He called her Cassie," Helen replied.
Artemis nodded as she turned the page to the detail picture of the chains.
"It's these chains that surprise me the most." Artemis paused. "Hephaestus made only one set of these. Zeus ordered for them to be destroyed.
Percy stared at the drawing before opening his mouth. "God chains"
Artemis looked at Percy.
"I listened in on conversation Chiron had when I shouldn't of." Percy replied. "The punishment of the chains reflects the gifts of the one bound by them."
"They were used on Apollo. He would call them his personal torture device." Artemis said.
"Well, they weren't destroyed." Helen said.
"No, which means my brother's capture wasn't random, he was the prime target," Artemis said.
"Why do you say that?" Helen said.
"Because Cassie is short for Cassandra. If you know your mythology, she only wants one thing...revenge."
