The Missing Sun

Chapter Six

Looking over the sketches a bit more, a buzzing sound interrupting Artemis' thoughts. Pulling out her cell phone, she held it up to her ear. After a few moments, Artemis nodded and put her phone away.

"Who was that? Percy asked.

"One of my hunters," As we speak, they are tracking the cloaked people we fought before. Turns out there's more of them than I thought."

Any leads on where the hideout is?

"No, but they said something intriguing." Artemis said, scratching her chin.

"What?"

Shaking her head, Artemis pulled out her cell and looked at Helen and Percy. "Take out your phones."

Helen and Percy did as they were told. They handed them to Artemis, who dial a number on both of them and pressed a few buttons. After a few moments, she handed them back their phones.

"I gave you both m number, only call me in an emergency. Artemis said. "Now I need to go check on check on something. I'll be back as soon as I can.

Before Helen could say a word, Artemis disappeared.

Percy shook his head and sighed as Helen turns to him.

"I take it Gods do this often?" Helen asked.

"Yep," Percy said as he sat back down. "All we can do now is wait."

Elsewhere, Cassandra looked out the window from the hallway. She starred out at the churning waters of the ocean. Her ears winced at the sound of footsteps coming from behind her.

"Report," Cassandra said, still looking out the window.

"Jessica, along with many of our other kin, has been captured by the Golden Sun." the young woman said.

"The girl?"

"Gone, taken by Artemis."

Sighing, Cassandra shook her head.

"What about the preparations at the temple?"

"Its almost complete. It's taking longer to get the supplies to the temple."

"We need to churn to the ocean," Cassandra mumble

"Uh ma'am" the woman asked.

"Send more people over to help with the supply issues at the temple. Cassandra said as she turned around and looked at the young woman. "And release the Seekers upon the Golden Sun. It's time to shake things up."

Meanwhile, at the Golden sun, Janet was walking through the tired up intruders guardian by a few zones Liberians while others were busy cleaning up the mess in the library.

Janet stopped and stood In front of Jessica. She looked down at the brunette, who glared right back at her. Janet bent down and sat right in front of her.

Jessica felt uneasy. She couldn't explain it but she as she looked into Janet's eyes, she didn't find any smugness or pride. But compassion and worry. Lady Cassie always told them what they were doing was for the greater good. But now she wasn't so sure.

What do you want? Jessica asked, snapping at her.

"I want to ask you about your master, But I already know you won't say a word." Janet said.

"Then why ask?" Jessica snapped back.

Janet smiled. "Because I see confusion in your eyes,"

Jessica looked away its true now a days she had her doubts about cassie's master plan. But who was she to complain?

Looking down, Jessica sighed, only for Janet to touch her shoulder. Looking up at Janet, she was only confused even more.

"Your not angry or frustrated with me?" Jessica finally asked.

"No, but I am curious. Why did your master?" Janet asked.

Looking away for a few moments, Jessica looked back at Janet.

"To be a part of something that would change the world."

Janet nodded. "How do you feel about it now?"

Janet wanted to answer that she felt the same way, but the more she thought about it, the more she felt unhappy.

Just as Jessica was about to open her mouth, Janet caught an arrow that was mere inches from her eye. Jumping up and turning around screams, shouting reach their ears followed by loud booms as the window shattered but not broken. They were steadily cracking.

Helping Jessica to her feet, a hood figure landed in front of them. It hissed at her as it stilted its head from left to right. Janet stared at the hooded creature as it continued hissing at her.

"Curious. What are you?" Janet said, staring at the creature.

The hooded creature hiss even louder than its eyes glowed red. Raising its arms, exposing the long ivory claws. Pushing Jessica out of the way, Janet tried to shield herself only for the cloak creature to slash her chest and arms. Wincing, Janet pulled out her sword, slicing the being in half. The creature screamed and disappeared.

Pushing past the pain, Janet untied Jessica's bindings.

"Go, get you and your people to safety." Janet said before jumping in and helping a few librarians with the other hooded creatures.

Uniting the others, Jessica watched Janet, helping her librarians with their injuries and fighting. The moment she untied the last of her kin, Jessica sighed, for she knew what he had to do. Looking to her fellow followers, he nodded and jump into aid the other librarians.

Knock to the floor as a few clocked fiends surround her, Janet grit her teeth. The moment anyone of them got close, she did her best to kick them away, yet she noticed they were sniffing her.

Pushing her self off the floor and breathing hard, Janet narrowed her eyes. As the two creatures changed toward her. Slicing one in half, Janet got another other, but she failed to notice the one behind her.

Janet dropped her sword as a hand wrapped around her neck and picker her up off the ground. Wiggling to get free, Janet put her hand around her neck. The harder she tried to get free, the more the hand grew tighter around her neck.

The cloak fiend leaned in, sniffing Janet, pulling a yellow, orange handkerchief from her pocket. Soon the hand holding Janet let go of the creature holding her was sliced in half.

"Get after them." Jessica commanded.

"Yes, Ma'am." The shadow cloaks said jumping out of the window.

Helping her up, a familiar voice spoke up to Janet.

"You okay?" Jessica asked.

Blinking, Janet smiled as she looked into Jessica's eyes.

"I've been through worst." Jane replied.

Glancing around, Janet noticed the librarians and the prisoners teams up against the feral creatures.

"Those creatures they have no souls."

"There called Seekers, they are sent out to clean up messes." Jane said. "This is the first time I have ever seen them in action.

With Jessica's help, Janet stood up.

"...The handkerchief," Janet said.

"What about it? Jessica asked.

"It belongs to Helen,"

They turned to the window where a Seeker holding Helen's handkerchief broke through a window.

We need to follow them, Janet said, only to sit down, gritting her teeth in agony.

Snapping her finger, two of Jessica's people jumped out the window and chased after the seeker.

"Now let's see," Jessica said as she tore a cloth blind. Seeing a bottle of alcohol among some glass, she kicked the glass and picked it up. Drenching the cloth in the Alcohol she wrapped it around Janet's chest and arm.

Janet grit her teeth, forcing herself to push past the sting.

"It's not the best, but it will have to do." Jessica said.

"Its fine, thank you," Janet said.

Jessica help Janet up, she lead Jessica to the back door while the rest of the librarians and the shadows cleaned out the Seekers.

"What made you change your mind?" Janet asked.

"You made me see what I was doing wasn't for the grater good, but the opposite." Jessica said.

"I'm glad," Janet said.

"I want to help fix this, but you properly saw that, didn't you?

"I did see this multiple times,"

Jessica shook her head as Janet chuckled. She tossed Jessica a pair of keys. The moment reached the door, Janet smiled.

"Welcome to the Golden Sun,"
