The Missing Sun

Chapter Seven

Rumbles echoed through the sky as hunters remained hidden behind the rubble on the outskirts of a temple. A woman threw a pair of binoculars at the many cloaked people down below, pushing wheel carrels or some small and large boxes into the temple.

Zooming in, she spotted what appears to be some kind of coffin entering the temple as well.

"What do you see?" a voice said.

"Take a look," Claire said, handing the binoculars over to Artemis.

After a few moments, Artemis handed the binoculars back.

"Boxes and now a coffin. What is going on down there? Artemis asked.

"A ceremony of some sort," Claire said, followed with a bow.

"But to what or who?" Shaking her head, Artemis sighed.

She hated having more questions than answers. Looking up, Artemis noticed hunters arrive. They bowed to the goddess as well.

"Creatures called Seekers have attacked the Golden Sun," the blond huntress said.

"Never heard of them. Anything else?"

"One got away. We have hunters follow the creature. It also it appears two people from the library are following it too.

Artemis sighed as she balled up her fist. No doubt it going after Helen, she thought.

"Okay, you two go back and keep an eye on the library," Artemis commanded before turning to Claire. "See if you can get a closer look at what's going on down there.

"Yes, Ma'am," Claire said before bowing.

Nodding, Artemis walked away, disappearing among the trees.

Meanwhile, on the road zooming down the road. Jessica made another right into another lame. The sudden jerk woke up Janet, who struggled to keep her eyes open.

"Ah, you're awake," though I lost you." Jessica said.

"You can't get rid of me that easy. Janet said.

Jessica chuckled.

"How goes it?"

"The two I sent after the seeker have sent me the coordinates. It's going to take us a while to get there."

Janet nodded. "As long as we get there, that's all that matters."

Jessica went silent as Janet sat up in the passenger seat. ,she looked over at Jessica, who glanced back at her.

"What do you want to ask me?" Janet asked.

"Do you ever see things you don't like?"

"All the time, now a days a recent set of events continue playing out in my mind."

"Oh? Like what?"

"Do you really want to know?

"Yes."

Janet took a deep breath. "It starts out showing a yellow sun, then flashes to a dark one above the library." Janet paused. "Then I see Apollo fall and rise as something more sinister." After that, my vision moves on to Helen being split between light and darkness with you by her side and me nowhere to be seen.

Jessica nodded, trying to take that all in. Stopping at a red light, one word came to mind.

"Wow,"

"Yeah intense, visions come in bits and pieces, which annoys many of my kind. So I draw what I see, hoping to put the pieces together somehow." Janet said.

"Do you have some with you?"

Janet pulled out a book from the glove compartment. She opened the book and Janet looked at the picture. Her eyes narrowed the moment she saw the image of the dark sun.

"Ive seen that before." Jessica said, staring at the drawing.

"Where?"

At a temple it held a mixture of yellow, orange and black marble inside." "Cassie talked about conducting some kind of ceremony. That's why she needed Apollo.

"No doubt that ceremony would bring about Apollo's demise." Janet said, followed by a sigh. "We are treading on something dangerous here, something that scares me, which is rare.

"After we find Helen and Percy, I will take you to the compound," Jessica said.

Nodding, Janet put Jessica on her shoulder. "Thank you,'

The light turned green. Jessica push the gas petal to the floor zooming off hoping reach their destination in time.

Walking around the meadow, Percy and Helen look around. They enjoyed the birds flying around them as trees swayed light because of the warm summer. breeze it's so peaceful here. Helen smiled as she twirled around dancing with the birds laughing while the world outside was falling apart least she could have a moment of peace.

Percy couldn't believe he was on another adventure again, no matter what. Where he goes on adventure seems to find him. He met great people, learn more about the Greek lore and even made some new friends. He just wished peace like this could last forever.

Smiling, Helen continued to dance when her ears twitched. The birds flew away as she pulled out her bow. Noticing Helen's change in demeanor, Percy pulled out his sword.

"What is it?"

"Something's here," Helen said.

Silence swirled around them for a while until a hissing sound brought through. Helen looked to her right and out jumped a person in a hooded cloak, or at least it looked like a person. It crouched over, tilting its head left and right, sniffing the air. Its eyes glowed the moment it stared at Helen.

"What are you?" Helen asked, staring at the hood cloak figure.

"Whatever it's, not alone." Percy replied, pointing at the clearing.

More hissing filled the air as more the cloaked creatures walked out into the clearing. Helen's eyes narrow gripping her bow tight as she pulled out an arrow.

Break time is over. It's time to fight.
