"Okay, I can do this." Wally said, psyching himself up.

"Wally, just go in already." Brendan sighed. "You want to challenge the gym so just do it."

"No, I'm not ready!" Wally said, backing up.

"Yes you are." Ash commented. "You're just getting in your own head too much. You took on Roxanne with no trouble at all."

"Yeah but this gym belongs to a rival clan." Wally said.

"A rival what now?" Ash said, holding back a laugh.

"Clan." Brendan said. "Apparently Wally's family used to be ninjas."

"If Wally's a ninja, I'll eat my hat." Ash said with a smirk. "But seriously, you are worrying over nothing. The Fuschia City Gym is a Poison Type gym. Between Vibrava and Kirlia, you should have no problem."

Inside the gym

"Okay, this I was not expecting." Ash said, as he and Brendan were thrown onto the field with Wally.

"Do these two represent your clan as well?" A young woman asked.

"Please leave us out of this." Ash begged.

"Yes." Wally said.

"Oh come on!" Ash called out.

"Very well, then the match will be a best of three." The woman said. "I hope they can fight better than they sneak."

"Oh, you have no idea." Brendan said.

"Why can't we have a normal adventure for once?" Ash asked.

Round 1

"Just because you're cute doesn't mean I'll go easy on you!" Another girl said.

"You think I'm cute?" Brendan asked.

"I never said that!" The girl exclaimed.

"Focus Janine!" The woman from before said.

"You've got this Brendan!" Wally cheered.

"Why did I have to get my sight back only to endure a ninja fight?" Ash groaned.

"Airados come on out!" Janine called out.

"Shiftry let's go!" Brendan called out.

"He did hear me say this was a poison gym right?" Ash questioned.

"Ariados use Swagger!"

"Shiftry use Extrasensory!"

Shiftry moved one of his fans, easily lifting Ariados into the air, keeping it from getting off it's attack.

"Now Shiftry use Leaf Storm!"

"Ariados use Poison Jab!"

Ariados launched forward as Shiftry changed its attack, several of the spiders long legs striking the grass type repeatedly, keeping them from counter attacking,

"Ariados use Pin Missile!"

"Shiftry use Razor Wind!"

Shiftry flapped his fans as a barrage of needles launched straight out of Ariados's mouth, striking Shiftry into the air and defeating it.

"The first round goes to the Saffron Clan!" The judge declared.

"Oh come on!" Wally exclaimed.

"Relax, we still have two more rounds." Ash assured. "Wish me luck."

Round 2

"I will not be defeated!" A young boy in a purple outfit said.

"Yeah I've heard that before." Ash said. "Pikachu let's go!"

"Haha! I have you now, come out Nidorino!" The boy said. "Your electric attacks will do nothing against his ground typing!"

"Yeah, Nidorino is pure poison." Ash said. "Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"

"Nidorino counter with Sludge Bomb!"

Pikachu's attack burst through the sludge bomb, zapping the Nidorino for massive damage, causing the poison type to stumble a bit.

"Now Pikachu use Shock Wave!"

"Nidorino use Double Kick!"

Pikachu leapt out of the way of Nidorino's attack, spinning his tail before unleashing a pulse of electricity, knocking the Nidorino off of its feet.

"Now Pikachu use Thunderbolt!" Ash commanded.

"Nidorino get out of there!" The boy shouted, as Nidorino struggled to get back up.

The bolt of electricity surged through Nidorino as the poison type stopped moving.

"Nidorino is unable to battle, the winner is Pikachu." The judge declared.

"Alright Pikachu!" Ash cheered.

"Now it's up to me." Wally said, holding a Pokeball in a shaky hand.

Round 3

"You've got this Wally!" Ash cheered.

"Come on Wallman show them how it's done in Hoenn!" Brendan cheered.

"Walter, my name is Angela, and I am the lead representative of our clan." The woman said. "I wish you luck in our match, may you fight with honor."

"Too you as well." Wally said, bowing slightly.

"Then Shiftry let's go!" Angela said.

"Vibrava I choose you!"

"Shiftry use Double Team!"

"Vibrava use Sand Tomb!"

A total of six Shiftry began running in circles around Vibrava as the dragon type whipped up sand around itself.

"Shiftry use Brick Break!"

"Vibrava use Dragon Breath!"

Shiftry leapt at Vibrava from all directions, making it impossible for Wally's Pokemon to know where to aim.

"Not good." Ash said. "Vibrava is fast, but not six opponents levels of fast."

"Vibrava fly up and out of the way!" Wally called out.

"No problem for us. Shiftry use Razor Wind!"

Vibrava shot upwards as Shiftry's winds came right for it.

"Vibrava!" Wally called out, as the Pokemon fell to the ground.

"Submit to defeat." Angela said calmly.

"Vibrava, please tell me you're okay." Wally said, rushing to his Pokemon's side.

"Vii." Vibrava said, struggling to stand back up.

"No, just stay down." Wally said. "It's not worth it!"

"Bra." Vibrava said, putting forth all of his strength.

"Va!" Vibrava said, his wings knocking Wally back.

"Wally!" Brendan shouted, rushing over.

"Guys look." Ash said, pulling out his Pokédex as Vibrava began to change.

'Flygon, the Mystic Pokemon. A ground and dragon type. It whips up sandstorms with it's powerful wings. It is known as The Desert Spirit.' Ash's Pokédex explained.

"Wally catch!" Ash said, tossing his Pokédex forward.

"Oh, this is gonna be fun." Wally said. "Flygon use Crunch!"

"Shiftry use Aerial Ace!"

Flygon zoomed forward, before clamping down on one of Shiftry's arms and tossing it into the air.

"Now Flygon use Hyper Beam!"

In Shiftry's prone position it was blasted by the attack of bright light, its motionless body falling to the ground in defeat.

"Shiftry is unable to battle, the winner of the match is Flygon and the West clan!" The judge declared.

"Alright Flygon!" Wally said, hugging his newly evolved Pokemon.

Back in Hoenn, south of Fortree City

"Just move, I'll handle this." Jessie said, as James and Meowth struggled to figure out the puzzle.

"Jessie, I'd be careful if I was you." Meowth said.

"You don't need to be careful with my powers!" Jessie said, a red energy forming around her hand as if became large and rocky, breaking through the wall to show an inner chamber.

"Jessie? Are you okay?" James asked in shock.

"Just fine. Now come on! We have a Pokémon to catch!" Jessie said.

"Or absorb." Meowth commented, as they entered the empty chamber.

"Not here either, no matter." Jessie said, walking into the center of the room. A yellow light surrounded her body as she was lifted into the air.

"So Jess, how ya feelin?" Meowth quipped.

"Oh I feel fantastic!" Jessie exclaimed, a second light appearing on her armor. Suddenly a beam shot out from it destroying the wall in front of her. "Oh this is going to be fun." Jessie said with an evil laugh.
