Amy Dallon

"You told her."

I nodded my head and let the ball go into the air and then promptly miss, Vicky grabbed the ball and made it in one shot.

"Sixth time, you can't keep doing things on your own, and you only got grounded for a week."

She made another shot.

"Your suposed to have my back."

I felt angry.

"I can't have your back if you keep running off! You can't talk about teamwork just when it's convenient for you."

She made another shot and sighed.

"It's just... frustrating, this city keeps getting worse and worse and nothing gets better and... ugh."

Another perfect shot, why yes I'm am jealous.

"And you win again."

We sat down on a bench and she opened up a bottle of water.

"Really Vicky, Martian spring?"

She took a sip.

"Yeah so?"

"It's a waste of money."

Vicky shrugged.

"Yeah but you say that about all bottled water, anyway this stuff is from space."

I leaned against the wall.

"Yeah so what? Practically everything in your phone is from space."

She shook her head at the flip phone.

"But my phone sucks, why don't we have cool tinker phones with internet on them?"

"Same reason why half the country still has dial up, the war."

The war the reason why everything is fucked and everything sucks, because some aliens decided to come to Earth and be assholes.

"There's only five."

"Four, we won the last one."

Vicky looked up.

"Really?"

"Yeah it happened in first period, Endbringer down."

Vicky sighed.

"And we missed it."

She moved the basketball with her feet.

"We should have been there."

"We go to three a year, actual Wards are limited to one a year, and Protectorate heroes have to limit themselves to two a year."

"But that one guy goes to like almost all of them."

I watched her take another sip of water.

"Void's crazy, we have firmly established that fact."

Though he was a lot less obnoxious then he used to be, Vicky nodded.

"So is he the crazy that gets you hot and."

"No, look he does look a lot better since he started working out but he's off you know? He doesn't talk to other capes he just goes out, does his thing and goes home."

"So he's a mysterious cowboy, can the nurse mend his wounded heart."

I tilted my head.

"Really?"

She smiled softly.

"Come on, you need to go out and find romance, you never know when your last day will be."

"That kind of atitude is why Arcadia has at least 10 girls who got knocked up this year alone."

"They say half of the girls at Winslow are pregnant."

I sighed.

"We do not talk about Winslow Vicky, we all just pretend that it doesn't exist."

The fact that they beat our football team, basketball team, swim team, and track team didn't factor into that decision, our chess team totally beat theirs though. I kind of slumped.

"Why won't you wear the armor I made for you."

Vicky looked away.

"It feels weird."

"Bullshit, that isn't the full story."

She took in a breath.

"I was the last one to trigger, everyone else had powers and I was the last one, and then when I do... I just want to do things on my own, prove that I have what it takes."

She looked frustrated.

"We appreciate you Vicky."

"I know but all I can do is fly and punch things and look really really hot."

"And scare people."

She nodded her head.

"That too."

She finished her drink and pulled out.

"Triton geyser."

"It's from space!"

"It's a rip off, it's just water."

"From space!"
