Star leaper- Orca
Our war against the humpbacks was going poorly, they kept interferring with our hunting grounds. We killed a few of their calfs and they responded by killing our warriors or keeping our prey away from us. The time was coming to move yet again. I was young, no longer a calf but not yet a warrior of the tribe. I left my pod searching for new hunting grounds.
The pod needed more waters, more fish. I was brave and went into the waters of the glowing ones. They were weird spindly creatures, like stretched out starfish. The ocean was littered with the not-beasts they controlled. I had heard stories of those who had earned their wrath, the humpbacks had once done that. Their songs of that lost war were still ones of deep sadness and grief, but that was the way of things. The glowing ones were masters of great and powerful magics and it was best to leave them be. The pod agreed to this wisdom, and we had grown strong.
I continued on until I looked apon the glowing ones lands, there had been a massive change, a great thing of wood. I saw a glowing blue, and jumped into it and suddenly I was somewhere else, it was dark so I jumped back. I spent many moons there traveling between my pod and the glowing ones magic. The pod decided that I had earned a new name, Star leaper. The pod would continue on and I would be left to study the glowing ones strange new magic. If it proved well, then I was promised the most beautiful mate in the pod. I raced back and studied it.
I got to know the timing of the circles, the strange magic of the glowing ones led not just to new oceans but new... other worlds. The skies of these other worlds were different, the oceans were full of food, full of fish. I went back to my pod in triumpth and with my lessons we carefully moved into the new waters. It was good, our bellies were full of fish and seal. We changed our peoples names, were were now the star jumpers, and when the old chief stood down I became the leader of my people.
I am still wary of the glowing ones, of their terrible power and magics but if a pod is cleaver and smart then it can swim away with a full belly.
