Amy Dallon
"Lung's been captured!"
I looked up from my juice box and made it just a little stronger, I stared at Vicky as she smiled.
"Well?"
I was silent and then sighed.
"This is great news, Lung's gone and-"
I took a sip from my juice box.
"Who's second in command of the ABB?"
"Oni Lee?"
I sighed.
"Doesn't have the energy or drive to lead, Bakuda's does and remember how she tried to blow up Cornell over a B?"
Vicky blinked.
"Then there's the fact that the Teeth are already trying to expand again, you have Coil's merc's doing god knows what, Faultline trying to prevent a massacre, and of course the Empire is going to try to expand again because Kaiser is a douche."
Vicky nodded and then poked me in the head, I stared at her.
"Stop being so depressing, Lung is gone, that's a win for us. Yeah the other guys are there but that means we're just a little bit closer to cleaning up this town. Also it means I get to punch more things."
"Really."
She smiled.
"I'm going to punch all the things."
Another sip.
"Really, that's your answer to everything, punch it in the face."
She shrugged.
"The more complicated a plan is the more that can go wrong with it, each new complication makes it more likely that the plan will go wrong, and if you let yourself be dragged down by all of the bad news that's going to make it eaiser to do nothing. Which gives the enemy all of the initative. A decent, simple plan now beats a perfect one that's too late, or even a good one that simply isn't fast enough."
I stared at her.
"And when you focus on the bad things it doesn't just mean your less likely to act, it also sapps your energy and makes you less effective, dad's a pretty good example of that."
I blinked.
"That was actually, um..."
"Intelligent, half the reason I say stupid things is to throw people off and make them underestimate me, the other half is because it's funny."
She shrugged.
"People compare me to a barbie doll, plastic and stupid but you know what? Barbie has been a businesswoman, a doctor, a scientist, construction worker and an astronaut. I'm not stupid, I just don't see the need to overcomplicate things. See a bad guy being bad, punch him, the other stuff, the social stuff, the economic stuff, education that isn't my job. My job is to stop bad guys, if talking works then I talk, if punching works then I punch."
She sipped a can of soda.
"Yeah the bad guys are going to do bad things, that isn't rocket science, it just means we have to punch more people and Amy, lefty and righty."
She kissed both of her fists.
"Are ready for action."
I looked at the clock.
"Lunch is almost over, you want to talk to your boyfriend?"
"Nah, we're on another break."
I sighed.
"You keep this up and he's going to leave you, you know that right?"
She shrugged.
"So why did you break up this time."
She sighed.
"He wanted to go see another one of those really boring movies."
I took in a breath.
"I mean if there isn't at least one explosion then it isn't worth my time."
"Vicky."
"Oh fine, I better go apologize again."
She got up and the boys stared at her, I do good work, really good work. I stared at my dinner, and wished I could work on myself, I mean sure, I could do implants but self improvement just didn't work for me and I was really tired of being her dumpy little sister. I finished my juice and walked to class, tonight we were going on patrol again.
