Amy
I'm back there, in the war. I don't recognize the city, they all kind of mesh into one in my nightmares. They're bringing me more people, there are too many and not enough healers to take care of them, too many for even Woody to take care of right now. My job is to keep them alive, alive until the battle is over, the smell of blood is everywhere. It's too much, too much.
"Hey."
I'm back in my room.
"Huh."
"Get into your armor, there's a problem."
Dad was... alert, serious.
"What kind of problem?"
He slumped.
"'Bakuda's on a bombing spree' kind of problem. A lot of people are hurt."
I closed the door and got into my armor, the bug like winds went out as we flew out to the charnel house of a street. The dying were brought to me as I tried in vain to figure out what I could do. Dad... had issues but when you needed him he was there. It was a struggle but his meds were decent enough and he was mostly functional.
"I have another one."
Thank god the VA paid for that stuff because I don't know if we could have afforded the medication he was on. We would probably end up using the older stuff with more side effects.
"Next."
By the way, this is how I cope with the horror of it all, focus on the mostly solved problems, think of really dark jokes and try to ignore the fact that a fuck up here will end with someone being dead. Actually more people dead, yeah there are definate limits to my powers and I couldn't save everyone.
I stared at an ABB member.
"She's crazy... this never would have happened with Lung around."
Please, the scary rage dragon wouldn't help.
"Not helping."
His voice was shallow.
"She's going after the Enclave, going to kill 'em all, we... they're assholes but..."
He coughed.
"Stop her."
His eyes closed, he would live, I looked at dad.
"Already on my cell phone... and oh."
"Oh what?"
"Lung's escaped, the ABB hit the prison transport."
"And?"
"He's heading towards the Enclave right now."
I turned my head.
"We have to stay here Amy, they need our help."
I gritted my teeth and went back to work, I prayed the PRT would be able to stop this.
