Calamity: 100 Years Later: Chapter 4: To Kakariko Village

It was nearing evening time in Hyrule. Hylian citizens were riding their horses through the land, while the sun was setting down and the blackness of the night sky was coming in. Animals were out and about while Bokoblins and other monsters were having feasts and gathered in large groups by campfires.

Link was riding his horse, Epona, through Dueling Peaks. He had fought some more Bokoblins and Moblins, while also finding shrines along the way, collecting Spirit Orbs, and rescuing Hylian citizens.

Link had just made it to the Dueling Peaks stable and approached the man at the front desk.

"Why hello there stranger, where ya headed?", asked the man.

"I'm heading for Kakariko village. Apparently, I'm the lost hero from 100 years ago named Link. But I don't remember what happened to me all that time ago.", said Link.

"Interesting story stranger.", said the man. "If you're looking for Kakariko Village, just ride your horse over to the left and stay on the straight path. You'll go up a twist in the mountain and eventually you'll make it.", said the man.

"Thank you sir!", said Link.

"Anytime stranger.", said the man.

Link then rode Epona on the way to Kakariko Village. It took a few minutes to get to Kakariko Village, but eventually Link found the entrance to the village.

Kakariko Village was much different from how the rest of Hyrule seemed. The entire village looked well taken care of in terms of architecture and things such as that. Villagers were walking around while Sheikah men were practicing their fighting skills, children were playing and chickens were walking around the village.

Link found a big house, possibly belonging to Impa. He approached the nearest guard at the house.

"Excuse me, is this Impa's house?", asked Link.

"Who wants to know?", asked the guard.

"I do. My name is Link and I'm apparently the knight from 100 years ago, but I don't remember much of what had happened all that time ago.", said Link.

"You're Link?! That's amazing! Go right ahead!", said the guard.

"Thanks.", said Link.

"You're welcome.", said the guard.

Link walked up the staircase and entered Impa's house. Impa was just meditating while her daughter Papaya was cleaning the house.

"Ah, if it isn't Link. I've been expecting you.", said Impa.

"Nice to meet you Impa. I can't remember what happened to me. All I know is that my name is Link and I was a knight to Princess Zelda, and I woke up in some shrine thing after 100 years.", said Link.

"As I suspected, you've lost your memory since you tried to protect Zelda all those years ago.", said Impa.

Link noticed that Papaya was looking at him. "Who is that and why is she staring at me like that?", asked Link.

"That is my daughter Papaya. She is only looking at you like that since no one has seen you in 100 years.", said Impa.

"I'm sorry Link, I-I just... you look... stunning...", said Papaya.

"Stunning?", asked Link.

"That's enough for now Papaya. Go upstairs to clear your thoughts.", Impa told Papaya.

"Yes mother.", said Papaya.

"Link, allow me to explain what happened. 10,000 years ago, the Sheikah tribe sealed away Calamity Ganon using autonomous soldiers known as the Guardians and the Divine Beasts Ruta, Rudania, Medoh, and Naboris. 1,000 years later and Calamity Ganon's return was imminent. King Rhoam Bosphoramus who you've probably met somewhere ordered Sheikah men and Hylian knights to excavate Hyrule for the Guardians, Divine Beasts and other ancient technology. He also asked his daughter Zelda to find the most powerful people of Hyrule to become appointed as the Champions of Hyrule. You were a young recruit for the royal Hylian army and were appointed Zelda's knight after stopping a malfunctioning Guardian. Zelda and you didn't have a good relationship at first, but eventually you became close together and even became lovers. Calamity Ganon struck Hyrule and took control of the Guardians and the Divine Beasts, killing the Champions, King Rhoam, and many Hylian citizens as well as destroying half of Hyrule. You and Zelda were cornered by Guardians and you tried to protect Zelda, but you almost died. You were taken to the Shrine of Resurrection for a 100 year slumber. Now that you've woken up and learned about yourself some, I would like to request something from you.", said Impa.

"What is it?", asked Link.

"Go to the painter outside, since he knows locations that could help jog your memory.", said Impa.

"Can do.", said Link.

"By the way, I have something for you.", said Impa.

"What is it?", asked Link.

"It's your Champion Tunic and a pair of Hylian trousers. I figured you would want to wear these since they are comfortable and what you wore all that time ago.", said Impa.

"Thanks. By the way, what do I do now?", asked Link.

"You must journey to Zora's Domain to restore Divine Beast Vah Ruta, to Death Mountain to free Divine Beast Vah Rudania, to Rito Village to free Divine Beast Medoh, and to Gerudo Desert to free Divine Beast Naboris.", said Impa.

"Got it!", said Link.

Papaya walked downstairs and exited the house with some food in her hands to cook outside.

Link walked upstairs to find a book. It was Papaya's diary.

Link took a look at the diary, finding entries about himself in it.

"Mother says that the lost hero, Link, will return one day. I just hope it's soon.", wrote Papaya.

"Link has returned and he looks just as stunning, beautiful and handsome as I thought he would be. Oh, the way his hair and his eyes sparkle in the light makes my heart melt.", wrote Papaya.

"Wow, seems like Papaya likes me.", said Link

"What are you doing?", asked Papaya.

Link jumped a bit and shut the diary to avoid getting yelled at by Papaya.

"I guess you read my diary. Pretty embarassing how I wrote how pretty you are, huh?, asked Papaya.

"Nope. Not embarassing at all.", said Link.

"Thank you Link.", said Papaya.

"You're welcome.", said Link.

Link then walked outside to the painter and approached him.

"Excuse me good sir, Impa told me come to you for places that may help me remember my past. Do you know where those places are?", asked Link.

"Why yes I do Link!", said the painter.

"How do you know my name?", asked Link.

"Are you kidding, everyone in Kakariko Village knows who you are. Sheikah men are the ones that put you in the Shrine of Resurrection.", said the painter.

"Nice to know.", said Link.

"Anyways, I know the location of these places and I've made a list of them, just keep the list with you so you know where to go.", said the painter.

"Thank you!", said Link.

"You're welcome Link!", said the painter.

Now that Link had met Impa and gotten a list of locations that might help him remember his past, he could continue on his journey.
