Calamity: 100 Years Later

100 years after Calamity Ganon struck and destroyed Hyrule, an amnesiac Link wakes up and finds himself on a quest to defeat Ganondorf. He meets new friends along the way, but he has much to overcome, and much to remember.

6. Finding Zora's Domain

Calamity: 100 Years Later: Chapter 6: Finding Zora's Domain

It was daytime in Hyrule and in the Kakariko Village. Villagers were out and about visiting shops, children were playing, birds were chirping, and Link had just woken up from his slumber at the Kakariko Village Inn. Link got up out of bed and stretched his body and yawned.

Link had just walked outside and walked up to a spot in the village. He noticed in the distance was an orange light, it was a shrine out in the distance. Seeing the opportunity, Link walked over the fence near the part of Kakariko Village and walked up to the shrine.

Link went in and ended up fighting a Guardian machine. The fight lasted quite awhile, but eventually Link won the battle and got a Spirit Orb from the statue in the case. Link then heard a voice call out to him. He saw a humanoid fish person, it was a Zora from Zora's Domain.

"Hey there stranger! Who are you?", asked the Zora.

"My name is Link. I am the lost hero from 100 years ago, but I can't remember anything that happened 100 years prior.", said Link.

"Wait, you're Link?! We've been expecting you!", said the Zora.

"We?", asked Link.

"Yes, we. The Zora of Zora's Domain have been waiting for your return. Come with me.", said the Zora.

Link followed the Zora and was taken to a fortress where another Zora was waiting for him.

"Hello there stranger, what brings you here?", asked the Zora.

"I'm Link. I'm the lost hero of Hyrule and I was told by Impa in Kakariko Village to come to Zora's Domain to free the Divine Beast Ruta from Calamity Ganon.", said Link.

"I can't believe it! It's you! Prince Sidon is waiting for you at Inogo Bridge. Would you please talk to the prince and perhaps save us all? We'd be ever so grateful!", said the Zora.

Link walked over to the Inogo bridge and heard a voice.

"Say hey there! Young one! Up top! Above you!", said the voice.

Link noticed another Zora on top of a pillar. The Zora jumped down to Link. It was none other than Prince Sidon.

"Pardon the entrance, but you're a Hylian, aren't you? I was hoping perhaps you'd have a moment to talk...", said Sidon.

"Aha yes, a Hylian! I knew it! Oh pardon me... I am Sidon, the Zora Prince. And what is your name?", asked Sidon.

"My name is Link. I'm the lost hero of Hyrule.", said Link.

"Link? Your name is Link?! What a fantastic name! Though I cannot shake the feeling that I've heard it somewhere before... Well, in any case, it is a strong name! To be honest, I've been watching you. I've seen the way you work. I can tell by how you carry yourself you are no ordinary person.", said Sidon.

"Link, you must be a strong warrior among the Hylians, correct?", asked Sidon.

"That's right.", said Link.

"Aha! I knew it! I am a Zora prince, after all. I have an eye for talent that is unparalleled.", said Sidon.

"I can help you get to Zora's Domain, just follow me!", said Sidon.

Link followed Sidon and then came to a cliff in the area, and saw another cliff leading to Zora's Domain. Link glided over to the other cliff and ran up it, finding some Lizalfos which he fought off using the broadsword. Link then came to a bridge known as Luto's Crossing.

Link crossed the bridge and Sidon called to him.

"Hey, Link!", said Sidon

"You are still pretty far off, my friend! But I was sure you would be passing over this bridge, so I have been waiting for you.", said Sidon. "You will be in Zora's Domain before you know it! In fact, I'm going to head that way too! I shall meet you there!", said Sidon.

"Beware warrior! A monster approaches from behind you!", Sidon said.

All of a sudden, a black Moblin appeared. Seeing the chance to fight, Link started fighting the Moblin, slashing it with the sword. After a moment, Link defeated the Moblin and collected the Moblin parts left by the Moblin.

Link walked up another twist in the mountain and found an Electric Wizzrobe. Link fought the Wizzrobe while getting electrocuted in the process. Link eventually defeated the Wizzrobe and got a lightning sword out of it.

Link then glided off the cliff to Zora's Domain and entered Zora's Domain. Sidon was waiting for him.

"Whoa! I've been waiting for you Link! Welcome! Behold the pride of my people, Zora's Domain! Now I shall introduce you to the king. Hurry, this way!", said Sidon.

Link walked through Zora's Domain, finding tons of Zora citizens around the domain.

"Well, what is it?", asked a Zora.

"I'm Link.", said Link.

"Your name is Link?! How dare you show your face here after what you did to Lady Mipha! I ought to punish you right now. Unfortunately, the elder council might need somebody to free Ruta.", said the Zora.

"Who is Lady Mipha?", asked Link.

"Who is Lady Mipha? She was the skilled swimmer of the Zora tribe and had a power only she could possess known as Mipha's Grace.", said the Zora.

"That sucks that she died.", said Link. "Anyways, I have to go to the king, where is he?" asked Link.

"The king is north of here in his throne room.", said the Zora.

"Thanks for the info!", said Link.

"Yeah yeah, whatever.", the Zora grumbled.

Link walked over to where King Dorephan's throne room was, and walked up to the king.

"Ah. You are the Hylian that Sidon found, correct?", asked the king.

"Yes, your majesty.", said Link.

"I am King Dorephan, leader of the Zora tribe.", said King Dorephan.

"Wait, that device on you. Is that a Sheikah Slate?!", asked King Dorephan.

"Yes, your majesty.", said Link.

"Now that I've gotten a good look at you, I remember who you are. You're the Hylian Champion, Link.", said King Dorephan.

"Wait, you don't really mean he is the Link? That Champion?!", asked Sidon.

"Yes, my son. He is the lost Hylian Champion from 100 years ago.", said King Dorephan.

"So that's why your name sounded familiar. Who would've known that one day we would cross paths?", said Sidon.

"I cannot believe that the Hylian Champion is here in front of us. We've actually met numerous times.", said King Dorephan.

"I had heard a rumor that you were wounded in combat, but you managed to survive. Incredible!", said King Dorephan.

"I lost my memory.", said Link.

"You said you lost your memory? Is that perhaps why you don't remember me? Surely you must remember my daughter, Mipha, right?", asked King Dorephan.

"I don't remember who Mipha is, your majesty.", said Link.

"I can't believe that you've forgotten my Mipha. Does that statue over there of Mipha not jog your memory?", asked King Dorephan.

"No, your majesty. It doesn't.", said Link.

"Hmmm. Perhaps your memory will return in time.", said King Dorephan.

"Father, I think it's best if we don't talk about my sister to Link. He seems confused.", said Sidon.

"I understand my son. But I must say, it is quite an accomplishment that Sidon managed to find one of the Hylian Champions entering our domain!", said King Dorephan.

"Now Link, I must tell you something very important. The domain is on the verge of vanishing because of the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. If you can work with my son to free the Divine Beast, that would be greatly appreciated.", said King Dorephan.

"Are you serious king?! Why trust this Hylian after what happened to Lady Mipha all those years ago?", asked Muzu, an elder Zora.

"Muzu, why must you protest? I expected more from you. It is rude to treat a guest that we invited into our domain like this! With an unprecedented rainfall, we have no choice but to rely on the aid of a trustworthy Hylian. He is the key to saving Zora's Domain.", said King Dorephan.

"Perhaps all of Hyrule is doomed to be swallowed by the sea. We Hylians and Zoras must set aside our differences and band together.", said King Dorephan.

"My king, have you not forgotten what happened 100 years prior? Those Hylians abused the power of an ancient civilization and turned Hyrule into what it is today. We cannot trust these lowly Hylians!", said Muzu.

"Link... Divine Beast Vah Ruta has great power. It has a unique ability to create an endless supply of water. Of late it has been mercilessly spouting water into the air, causing heavy rainfall here in Zora's Domain. For us Zora, water and air are one, so you might not see this as quite a critical problem. The rains have filled the eastern reservoir to the point of flooding. I fear that if the reservoir bursts, not only will Zora lives perish, but Hylians lives will as well.", said King Dorephan.

"The Princess Zelda you were close to 100 years prior studied the Divine Beasts and found that the orbs on Ruta's shoulders are mechanisms that control the water it generates. However, it requires electricity to make it work. These orbs are clearly out of control since there is no electricity is working to stop them.", said King Dorephan.

"One of our Zora, Seggin hit one with a shock arrow, slowing the water down a bit. Unfortunately, us Zora are vulnerable to electricity what with us being aquatic creatures and all.", said King Dorephan.

"So, Link, you need to get shock arrows to get the orbs working again. I will aid you in any way I can.", said Sidon.

"Well, um... Zelda instructed me to go into the Divine Beast and free it from Ganon's magic.", said Link.

"What?! Zelda told you to enter the Divine Beast and appease it from within? So Zelda is still alive, right?", asked King Dorephan.

"Yeah, she's in Hyrule castle.", said Link.

"I can't believe that you and her were alive this whole time! The events of 100 years ago cannot be altered. If we can regain the control of the Divine Beasts, we might be able to defeat Calamity Ganon.", said King Dorephan.

"I did not know you had such great ambitions Link. Once it has stopped rampaging, you can access it. Come on Link, let's free Ruta together!", said Sidon.

"I'm in! Let's do this!", said Link.

"Now Link, let me offer you this as a gift of faith.", said King Dorephan. He handed Link Zora armor, trousers and a Zora cap.

"This Zora outfit will help you swim more effectively.", said King Dorephan.

"Thank you, your majesty.", said Link.

"Surely you do not intend to give this outsider Zora armor, your highness.", said Muzu. "It is far too important to give Lady Mipha's creation to a shady Hylian. This Hylian may be a Champion, but he never had such a relationship with Lady Mipha, so I don't see why this Hylian gets the honor of Zora armor.", said Muzu.

Muzu walked away from the throne room grumbling to himself.

"That Muzu is not easily swayed once his mind is set. To understand him better, he was in charge of educating my daughter, Mipha. Ever since we lost her, Muzu has grown to despise Hylians. I hope you can forgive his rudeness. I tasked Muzu with getting the shock arrows but it seems he has taken off in a huff. Go and try to talk to him, Link.", said King Dorephan.

Link exited the throne room and found Muzu standing by the statue of Lady Mipha.

"Ah, you came all the way to meet me. Well, I have no desire of speaking to you, so go away you shady Hylian.", said Muzu.

"Muzu, I believe you should know that this man standing here before us is the one my sister, Mipha, had feelings for. I was only a child at the time so I didn't understand it at the time, but I always heard stories from my father talking about how Mipha had an undying love for Link.", said Sidon.

"You cannot fool me with this odious lie! Not this Zora! How could a lady like Mipha have feelings for a Hylian like him?! The fact of the matter is that he doesn't remember who Mipha is, so he is not deserving of being called our hero or savior.", said Muzu.

Link took a look at the statue. He was thinking about why it looked so familiar. Then, as Link was thinking, a memory came to his mind of Mipha.

In the memory, Mipha and Link were on the nose of Divine Beast Ruta, only it was glowing blue instead of red.

"I was thinking... This reminds me of the time we first met... You were just a reckless child... always getting yourself hurt at every turn. Every time, I would heal you. I thought it was funny, how, being a Hylian, I was... I was always willing to heal your wounds. Even back then.", said Mipha as she was healing Link's arm which had gotten wounded in a fight against Bokoblins and Moblins.

"So, if this Calamity Ganon does, in fact, return, what can we really do? We just don't seem to know much about what we'll be up against. But I know this: no matter how difficult this battle might get... if you- if anyone ever tries to do you harm... Then I will heal you. No matter when, or how bad the wound... I hope you know... Once this whole thing is over, maybe things can go back to how they used to be when we were young. You know... Perhaps we could spend some time together.", said Mipha.

Link finally remembered Mipha and who she was, it all came back to him now. They were friends as children and Mipha cared deeply for him, healed his wounds whenever he got hurt, and she had feelings for him.

"What is wrong with you, Hylian? You're quivering, I can tell.", said Muzu.

"I remember Mipha. I remember my friendship with her.", said Link.

"What?! Do not mistake me for a fool, Hylian! There is no way you remembered Mipha, even when it's most conveinent for you.", said Muzu.

Link walked around for a minute and put on the Zora armor.

"You really think changing your clothes is going to make me-wait, that's the Zora armor from before, and yet it fits you perfectly! What is the meaning of this?!", asked Muzu.

"Now you know who Mipha's heart beated for. She made the armor for him and him alone! You have always disliked Hylians even before the Calamity. That is why Mipha never told you.", said Sidon.

"Now tell us where Link can find the shock arrows.", said Sidon.

"Hmph. I do not trust asking a Hylian for help, but seeing as this is our only option I am willing to help you find the shock arrows. The shock arrows are on that mountain over yonder called Ploymus Mountain, where you will also find Shatterback Point. A Lynel is guarding the shock arrows, so be careful not to run into the Lynel. In order to appease the Divine Beast, you will need 20 shock arrows. You can get them, right?", asked Muzu.

"You bet I can!", said Link.

"Good! Now go up to Ploymus Mountain and collect those shock arrows!", said Muzu.

"You got it, Muzu!", said Link.

Link and Sidon ran across a bridge to the right side of Zora's Domain. Sidon went to where the Divine Beast Vah Ruta was, while Link swam up the waterfalls and to the Lynel.
