Amy Dallon

I paced back and forth while Void continued to work on something, I don't know what but he was...

"I should be out there."

He continued messing around with some wiring, he shrugged and went back to whatever it was he was doing.

"You agree with me right?"

He sighed.

"You have no idea where the Nine are holed up, you're their target and if you do get a kill Bonesaw will just clone a new one, I mean their on what, their 3rd Winter? 4th? It's kind of hard to tell."

"I'm surprised they didn't bring back Grey Boy."

He shrugged.

"The one nice thing the Fairy Queen did? Kill the fuck out of him, I don't think there was enough left of him to clone."

He continued working on his things.

"I thought you said the house didn't have any power?"

"The gas still works, it was hard but I was able to get a small generator going, it's not enough to power the house, and I have to refill it every couple hours. It's a pain in the ass but at least I can recharge stuff."

"Any idea when it's getting fixed?"

He sighed.

"The city's concentrating its' efforts on fixing downtown, there's a war going on so places like this aren't going to get as much funding. They will get to it eventually."

He continued tinkering, I decided to change the subject.

"So when the war ends things are going to be great."

He looked up tired.

"So there's a lot of arable land now, a lot more then we ever had in the entirety of human history, right?"

I shrugged.

"There's more energy, more metals, more resources out there then we have ever had within easy reach, right?"

"Yeah."

"What do you thinks going to happen to the economy when all of that over production of food, of raw materials, of everything hits the economy? Right now a lot of it's limited by the enemy but once the Simurgh stops cockblocking us from space all of that is going right into the economy. What do you think is going to happen to the price of everything?"

"Um..."

He sighed.

"The economy's going to be fucked, at least in the short run."

I stopped my pacing, and stared at him.

"I own a bunch of survivalist handbooks, economics comes up every now and then."

He studied something and smiled as he closed a case.

"Ok, but isn't that a good thing?"

He shrugged, and went to another project.

"You can't throw a whole bunch of stuff into a system and expect things to remain the same."

Right, time to change the subject.

"So what made you pick Void Cowboy?"

He cringed.

"Edgelord was taken."

I blinked.

"Really? You were going to call yourself Edgelord?"

He brought out more electronics and started soldering.

"You know I actually met Edgelord."

He looked up.

"Really?"

"Yeah, he actually has this thing that plays music when he fights. He had this one song that was about crawling and skin."

He shrugged.

"He's the third one then, the first one was cool for a villain I guess, meet any other important people?"

"Well you're the third person I met who killed an Endbringer."

He frowned at the components.

"You met Eidolon?"

"No you, Ironwood and Lighting Tiger."

He looked up.

"I only saw him during that fight, what was he like?"

I closed my eyes.

"He was smart, he spoke chinese, english, french, spanish, german, and he was one of the biggest flirts I have ever met."

He tilted his head.

"I never heard about that."

"Yeah when he died, China tried to say he was some kind of saint, and he was an alright guy. If you said no he wouldn't push it, but when he was in the hospital all he did was flirt with every woman around him even the old ugly ones."

"Why?"

"Every woman deserves to feel beautiful, his words not mine, he wasn't a bad man but that's what he was like."

We were silent then the sound of soldering stopped.

"Is that why you, um changed the way you looked because you felt like?"

I flopped down in his chair.

"No, well it's a part of it the other thing is that I need to be able to catch the Nine off guard so this is a way to do that. I've already told mom and dad about it and they understand. Thanks for letting me borrow your family's stuff."

He nodded and went back to work, I heard the buzzing of my phone and saw a text.

"We found them, Crystal's bringing a suit over."

I smiled and felt a sense of victory.

"I'm in."
