"Thanks," she mumbled, nibbling on her lower lip. "For everything. I shouldn't have snapped at you earlier—"

Sesshoumaru waved her off. "Considering what you have been dealing with, your reaction was appropriate."

She continued to stare at him, and when he raised an eyebrow, a faint blush stained her cheeks, and she quickly looked away. "Still. You had every reason to be angry about the noise. I'd have done the same thing."

"It seems you had done so already. I am sure you had your fair share of complaints before the threats began—"

"That wasn't why I was angry," she blurted, her gaze caught by a sudden fascination with her fingernails.

Sesshoumaru frowned. "Why else—"

"You called me Kikyou." She tucked her feet underneath her on the couch, the action giving her a smaller and more vulnerable appearance. "I thought you did it on purpose."

He scoffed, the sound lighting a fire in her eyes, but he cut her off before she could berate him further. "If I had known there were two of you, I would not have made that mistake."

The woman rolled her eyes. "Yeah, right. If she hadn't walked into the room, you probably would've—"

Golden eyes were sombre and serious as he stared at her. "You look nothing alike."
