Owen kept talking about 'The Fly' to such an extent that Ianto asked if he thought they might come across a movie set with Jeff Goldbloom running about in some sort of Method Acting Overload. This garnered the response he thought it would with Owen giggling into his tablet as he pretended to be checking the blueprints to the warehouses in the industrial area.
"Most likely to be this one" Owen said as he thrust the tablet at everyone, Jack not bothering to take his eyes off the road as he drove, the rest of the team in the SUV all looking with untold politeness as they all knew which one it was already.
Moses then yowled softly and Ianto swung around in the front passenger seat "What… what is he doing here?"
"Wanted to be back up" Owen said like it made perfect sense.
"Oh for Godsake" Ianto sighed, turning to watch the world go by once more, his inner whiskers sticking straight out at the thought of some battle.
"He will stay with the car, won't ya mate? Protect the shop?" Owen crooned, bopping the cat affectionately as Moses pretended to like it. He knew it was pissing Ianto off, seemed to enjoy the mere thought of it as Ianto ground his teeth.
"It's all fun and games until someone looses one of their lives" Ianto muttered after a while, giving in as it was to late to do much else really. Bloody spoilt Kat.
They skidded into the parking area of the building and Jack stopped the vehicle, Owen trying to wrench the door open like a madman but only achieving the image of a monkey trying to break into a vault "It's locked."
"Yes. I locked them" Jack agreed sagely.
"Oh. Ok" Owen sat back then frowned as he asked "Why?"
"We need to talk before you race in there half cocked to balls it all up. Come on, we have a Kat here that can slip in, case the joint and get back to us" Jack said as he pointed at Ianto "Don't you think it might be a good idea to start utilizing our best assets before shooting off our own foot? Hmmm?"
"You make me sound stupid. I am not wearing a Red Cap am I?" Owen smartly sneered back, then threw his arms up in surrender.
Ianto transformed into a small black cat and raced to a broken window pane, looking up at it until Jack carefully lifted him up and in, he whispered to him as he released him "be careful sweetie. Just because you might not die, does not mean you might not lose an eye your own damned self."
The cat winked, then slithered out of sight, not even making a noise as he landed on the other side in the semi darkness of the warehouse's interior. He padded along with a jaunty air to him like this was his house, looking up at the many shelves of boxes and calculating the amounts of ammo in each one.
He came to a room with lights on and a warmer atmosphere, the heating lamps doing their work as not only were there planets aplenty, but insects too. Made sense. He would want his own kind around him and if none were there, some facsimile. Right?
Ianto entered and stood staring up at the huge creature, the size of a man but with the face of a fly. Eww. Not much could be more gross than this, the thing's eyeballs actually hundreds of tiny ones that all moved independently. Ewww. Ianto wondered if he could find a huge can of fly spray somewhere, then became amused by it.
Now he could see it, it was not that scary. Sure, it was human sized but clearly not human strength as the chains holding it to the wall might have been broken by a strong man, yet this thing whined as he pulled at them coltishly like some heroine in a romance novel.
Like most insects, this one relied on flight, not fight.
Also, it was clearly not here of it's own free will. But why keep one? Just to ….ewwwwwww. Ianto had just noticed the bucket placed to one side for it. Well I say noticed, hard not to as the thing swung to spit a yellow liquid into it before resuming its whining and yanking like a bad B Grade Movie actor.
"Cut that out" a man entered and the thing shrank against the wall as the man reached for the bucket, replacing it with another already yin his hand and he tipped the bucket to check the contents then frowned, turning as he left to yell "Garry, we need another one. It's starting to dry up!"
Ianto pondered this, then he followed the man to find Garry in the other room with less heat and more noise. The man was humming softly and was clearly waiting for the man with the bucket and he tipped about half a jar of the liquid into a jar waiting for it, then the other one topped it up with honey from a honey bear pot, tipping the dispenser up to squeeze.
"Same drop point as before?" the bucket man said.
"Yeah" Garry replied "We drop off this gear, get the payment and find another warm body for the Buzzer."
"Who would have thought, it's spit is smoother than methadone and gets you higher than crack without ever showing up on a drug test" Bucket man said as he lifted the jar to shake gently "Look at it. Over 5000 Euros, just for this one jar."
OK, now Ianto was WAY grossed out.
Came looking for a mass murderer and found a drug ring of some sort?
The black cat padded happily out the door with Bucket man who glanced down as he felt something brush his leg only to find thin air. The little black cat already running in the shadow of the building towards the back where the team waited patiently.
Jack was not gonna believe this.
