This is the crack the seal chapter, really to make known what the grimoire has inside and help me figure out where to go from here. If you have suggestion feel free to add them to the reviews.
I have one major idea soon in my head.
In the Training Arena one month later
Aaron rejoiced as he managed to use the Abi Spell to launch Caster and Pollux both across the training ground. They both landed hard, huffing and puffing, looking pained. "Sorry boys, but thanks for the target practice. I really needed to master that spell, it's my strongest telekinetic push spell."
They pouted, then smirked and clicked their fingers. In an instant, vines grew around his feet, wrapping around his heels and tripping him. "That's okay." They said, laughing at him.
Rolling his eyes, he stood having barely felt the knockdown given the magical hoodie he was wearing muffled the fall. "Very funny, so how did the spell feel?"
Pollux frowned. "It felt like we were being pushed, but by our entire body not just one part of us. It was weird, but it worked."
"Great, I needed to master that spell, it's my best nonprepared defensive or offensive spell." He looked at his hands, pleased. "The drain was minimal, I think that spell is mastered enough that I can start on my newest grimoire, given to me by my patron."
The boys nodded, excited. "Persephone is as big into Nature as we are, as dad is! That is honestly awesome that your magic is going to focus on nature, you have a real green thumb, you're almost as good with plants nonmagically as we are."
That made him flush, he had been working hard in his pursuits of magic, to master the craft that he managed to learn so much about gardening. He worked at it for at least an hour each day, and felt the heat of the earth as he did so. Gaia's majesty was everything, empowering and graceful and he loved it's feel. He loved the act of caring for life, and creating the means for power. He had long since mastered, on a small scale anyway, the plant strengthening spell the nymphs had taught him when he first entered camp for this reason.
Waving his hand, with some intense focus, he summoned his new grimoire from his bag across the arena and held it in his hands. It was a dark velvety green and had sigils of power on it's front. He felt it's power, a hum of mystical strength from dark secrets etched into it's pages. Necromancy and Nature magic, the powers of Persephone herself, imbued into the book for only him to master.
Opening the book, he heard a subtle whisper, and words filled his mind.
"Careful who you share with these universal secrets, my Champion, not all beings can handle what is within."
Persephone's words, her voice, echoed in his head and he nodded, knowing she was right. " Awesome... so,... where to start, at the beginning sounds fine."
The first page started with a list of herbs and other ingredients that would and could be used in such magics, with darker and lighter effects, stronger effects, than he ever imagined possible. The next few pages were sigils and commands, some for barriers, others for commands, and voice and all for channeling other forces. There were spells for barriers, for healing plants and spirits, for taking on the emotional burden of others, for astral projection, to summon the dead safely, to harness the power of the earth to heal plants or even himself in emergencies, spells to heal poisons and enhance the power of herbs and stones...
So many spells, potions and so on, he would be using this grimoire for years to come.
The most important spell was a summoning spell, for Nymphs of all types and Spirits of the dead to learn from them or draw on them for power, however, the book was clear that one must master far more than he had before ever trying them.
"This is incredible, I could... one day, rival one of you for the uses of Nature and Earthen magic!"
They both nodded, smiling at him. "That would be awesome," Castor said. "We may not be in your coven, but ask us any time if you need help, magic is magic, so our insight should be helpful for harnessing nature magic."
"Awesome... I got to get to work, there is even things on advanced divination here, so much to work on." He hurried away, focusing on the words within, making mental notes of all he saw. He could not believe all there was to read on. The first thing the book wanted him to master was astral projection, saying that it strengthened spiritual resistance and focus, allowing him the strain of necromantic magics. "I can do that... and look, sigils and rituals to start the process until I can do this safely. Awesome. I guess I will be working on this for some time... and maybe a few spells to help get rid of pests on plants and encourage growth past illness... I think the Apollo kids will love the healing spells this contains, and ways to enhance herbal healing potions... they will love me. Finally, some way to be useful to this camp... maybe I could get the Apollo kids to show me how to heal, that way I can mix together things, make myself even more useful..."
And with that he hurried to Posiedon's cabin, where he was still staying, readying himself to start on his astral projection spell. It would take time to master but soon enough he would be able to come and go, to control dreams and nightmares, to spy on others, or pass on information and talk to Persephone easily. All things that would help continue to give him real purpose and really that was everything.
Chapter over, Tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a real joy to write, it helps me focus for later chapters.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
