Misa was snuggled into her couch with her fishnet-covered legs dangling off the arm of her seat. I noticed the magazine she was flipping through was about idols and their upcoming movie debuts.

"Oh, hey Violet, wanna watch a movie?"

Before I could politely decline the offer, Misa's face changed to disgusted as L and Light shuffled in.

"You know, for once I'd like not to be a part of your perverted game and just have Light to myself."

L said nothing to retort, only bending over like one might do when dealing with a crying child.

"Misa, do you love Light?"

Streaks of pink appeared on Misa's tiny cheeks, and I had to admit it made her seem a little more human. A flaw, if you will, was spilling out all over her face. I just wasn't quite sure why she was blushing when she declared her love and devotion for Light everywhere she went.

"Oh, yes, very much."

"You also have a high devotion to Kira, right?"

Strangely enough, the color pallet making up the young female in front of me never changed, her eyes shining under the dusting of makeup.

"...Yes."

"Then, Misa Amane, which one do you like more?"

Misa kneeled into the leather of the couch, slithering around Light's free arm. She met both L's and then my own eyes with something I call innocent intensity. It might be cold to think since I was her friend for now, but a part of me couldn't help but think the actress in her sure did help.

"I'll always be thankful to Kira, but I'm in love with Light."

I thought the conversation would end on that note, or at least move on to another direction, but L simply readjusted his position to swallow up the distance. The leaning brought out the curve of his bent spine through his white shirt. I knew the extreme closeness was just to cause a slip, but instead made beads of sweat form at the crown of Misa's head.

"Even though Light wants to capture Kira? It would most certainly end in Kira's death…"

"Whatever Light wants, I want."

"Then, what's my name?"

I didn't realize it until that question what L was trying to get at. Maybe because of how much more simple it was than everything he did downstairs to test Light. I felt almost like my own detective skills were starting to rot away at that moment. A feeling I would just have to bottle up until later.

"Hmm? I only know you as Ryuzaki."

"Who's L?"

"Oh, this is an easy one! The person on the computer with the letter L."

"Yes, correct."

Even though Misa held onto Light's arm for dear life, it didn't stop L from standing partly up and towering over her personal space once more.

"Wouldnt be great to work alongside me, Misa?"

"Enough, you two. Misa doesn't need to get involved."

Light's caring words brighten up Misa's eyes, his words touching her heart.

"I think we should let Misa decide if she wants to join and help out with the investigation. Misa?"

She loudly clapped her hands together, her arm still around Light's so it shook the chain fiercely.

"As I've said, I'd do anything for Light! I want to help!"

"Ryuzaki…"

L explained that with Matsuda's mess up from before, the idea of Misa becoming the next spokesperson for Yosuba was already floating around. They would use Aiber as Coil to open the door for Misa under the guise of Coil coming across the information through his investigation.

"There's nothing unusual for Coil being able to cover this piece of info."

He figures that Yosuba will bite to learn Misa Amane may know L, and through a leak, they'll find out that Misa was put into confinement by an unknown person. It'll help that there were rumors of Misa's arrest and a large sum payoff that fell flat quickly as they showed up, but the seven of them will if Coil says it, making the trust between them stronger.

"You're trying to make them think there's a connection between Misa and L," I noted, shifting my body weight onto my other leg for comfort.

"Yes, all Misa will have to do is let it slip that she looks up to Kira and wanted to meet him."

I felt my head turn to the other female in the room as L asked her if she could manage it. Even after hearing the rundown of the plan, Light still put his foot down.

"You want to catch Kira, right Light?" her already colored cheeks deepened as Misa asked her question, staring up to study Light's face.

"Not like this, you could get hurt."

The glaze of love glassed over poor Misa's eyes, it look like it she might waver on her feet.

"Misa has no problem doing this for you. Please let Misa Help!"

I fought off the feeling to cringe, I guess Misa talks in the third person when she's this excited.

"Ryuzaki, Misa doesn't realize that if Kira is among those seven, he can manipulate her to talk before death."

I walked closer to the three of them, able to shine a light on his worry.

Part of the job of bugging area L asks of me is also a basic search of the location. While at Yosuba's meeting room, Wedy and I dumped all the trash cans and the large shredder in the corner of the room and pieced together anything important.

On cue, L pulled a slip of paper from his pockets, and even though it was faxed the faint lines created by taping still appeared.

"This sheet talks about the rules of killing and how you need a face and a full name."

The feeling of bile burned the back of my throat as I remembered we were certain the second Kira needed only a face. How does that rule work for them then?

"That doesn't mean they won't kill Misa once they do manage to kill L."

"I'm short on time Light, we would share the same fate. I die then you die."

"Oh, please let me help! I couldn't live in a world without Light!"

"Yes, that would be dark." L retorted, putting that thumb to his lips.

I wasn't sure if I was the only one who got that joke but I would discuss it with L another time.

"Misa's love for Light is the greatest in the world, nothing could go wrong."

She quickly moved over to L, moving like a rabbit, and planting her painted lips square on his cheek. Her action drew no jealousy from me as I had done a lot more with the detective just on this case, but the fear of my hurt made her slither around me now.

"Oh, Violet, I'm so sorry! I was just so happy somebody else gets me that I reacted without thinking!"

I tried to calm her rattling on, reminding her that he's just my boss and she did nothing wrong, but it didn't work.

"Okay, then since you kissed Ryuzaki, I'll have to peck Light on the cheek as revenge."

I joked, even smiling to express my goofing around but I guess even at my age now I still suck at jokes, as bright pink facial expressions turned dull from shock.

I had made the atmosphere even thicker with my words.

The boys left me to sit Misa on the couch and explain to her that I, like Ryuzaki, am in our late 20s and have no interest in Light. Or anyone.
