Chapter 29
This evening, everyone is cleaning up the house with Levi's orders, Eren, Peter, Odom, and Connie are cleaning the floor while Armin, Sasha, and Jean get the food back. As for Mikasa, Historia, and Aya, the three of them are chopping firewood.
"It looks like we're back in the Cadet Corps." Sasha says.
"Yeah..." Armin says. "Why do you figure we were chosen for the new Levi Squad, though?"
"Protecting Eren, Aya, and Historia is such an important mission after all." Peter says.
Aya touches the floor and says, "Hey, Eren, this is not enough, come over here and clean this."
"Sure..." Eren says as he brings the mop over to her side.
"Good thing we have Aya here, she knows the standards of Levi's cleaning level..." Peter says.
"And I'm glad that we're not the only ones in the Levi Squad anymore." Katrina says.
Just then, the original Levi squad flinches as they see Levi and Dina walking in, with the others still arguing. Levi touches the table and says, "I'm quite sure I gave you enough time."
Levi sighs, "Anyways...we'll discuss your lax cleaning job another time."
Dina says, "Eren, commander Hange is here and she is going to see our training."
"I see." Eren says, "We're coming, mother."
Then they all see the training, but over-transforming is tiring every Titan Shifter out. And after that's done, Eren, Peter, Odom, Katrina, Aya, Mikasa, Armin, and Dina are in the same room.
"So what are going to talk about, Eren?" Aya asks.
"Ever since I interact with Mother, more and more memories of the future are getting back to me..." Eren says.
"What did you see? Can you tell us about it?" Mikasa asks.
Eren says, "I'm sorry, mother. But the reason I started the Rumbling in the future... I used big brother Zeke..."
"Zeke?" Dina is surprised. Armin asks, "Hold on, who is Zeke?"
Katrina says, "Zeke is our big brother, and he is the Beast Titan... he is also the one who turned Connie's village into Titans..."
This causes Dina to be sad, she asks, "So Zeke was somewhere on Paradis... if only Grisha and I weren't that harsh..."
"Another memory I saw... was in the attack of Marley..." Eren says. "Before I started the attack, I think I have a meeting with Reiner..."
"Reiner..." Everyone was still sad at how Reiner betrayed them.
"He seemed miserable and begged me to kill him..." Eren frowns. "I didn't have the full memory of what was going on...but he blamed himself for our mother's death as well..."
"That's the original version, right?" Katrina asks, "Because, in this timeline, I was the one who ate my mom..."
"So that's all of them?" Aya asks.
"Yeah, I'm sorry, the rest is just like what I've said. Since we're not going in this timeline, we still need to figure something out. If the attack on Marley doesn't happen, the Tybur Family is still going to gather all the nations to have a declaration of war. What are we going to do then?"
"Shouldn't we try to negotiate?" Armin asks.
Dina frowns, "It might be impossible, the whole world treats us as devils, considering the fact that they still make me a Titan even though I was a distant relative to the one who fabricated the Marleyan hero..."
Aya says, "What if we try to take all the Titan powers to ourselves? If we get all 12 Titan powers on our side, we might be able to hold on to the fight against Marley."
"But not the other nations because of their technology...but it's worth trying." Eren says, "Katrina, how is the serum making?"
"Thanks to Mother's spinal fluid, I might be able to make some to change pure titans into normal." Katrina says, "However, we need to test it out since we're not sure if it works..."
"I see..." Eren frowns.
The next day, Eren, Katrina, Dina, and Historia are cooking this time, Historia says, "Must be nice. You and the others... You have goals in mind, even though they won't be easy. But me, now that Ymir is gone... I don't even know what I want."
"Without Aya, Ymir is a goner, Marley must have another warrior eat her and gain her powers..." Katrina says.
"Back then, I couldn't believe what she did... It's true I wanted to save her, but now I'm thinking differently... Ymir chose her own path in life. I have no right to change that... and no need to." Historia says.
Dina smiles, "I'm glad to see you speak again, back then, after you told us about yourself, you haven't smiled once and you rarely talked. We were worried about you."
"Because it's a pain... sorry. The good-girl Christa who was nice to everyone is gone now." Historia says.
"But I think it is better, you had been putting up a facade, and it was so forced and unnatural, I knew how it feels and it makes me sick. But now you're acting normal, it's a good thing."
Just then, Hange and the others arrive and inform them that Pastor Nick is dead, which caused them to be surprised.
"Nick was tortured by the Interior Military Police and then murdered. I figured the Church would want to deal with Nick since he was cooperating with the Scouts. That's why I hid his identity and had him stay in the barracks, but...to think they would use soldiers to kill him. I was too careless, it's entirely my fault."
"The Military Police... Did they torture Pastor Nick just to find out what information he spilled to us?" Armin asks.
"Most likely. But it was the Interior Military Police, which means there's something more behind it." Levi says. "So, how many nails did Nick have ripped off?"
After revealing that all of his nails are peeled off, Levi adds that it won't make a difference after taking one nail.
Levi says, "So they have no idea we've caught wind of the Reiss family. Though, someone in the government is up to no good, and their eyes are fixed on us."
Just then, Nifa arrives with a note addressed to Captain Levi, after reading it, he wants everyone to leave the house right now and leave no trace. It is a good thing they did, the Interior Police arrive just after they leave.
"If we hadn't left right then, what would've happened to us?" Connie asks.
"But why? What would make Commander Erwin...?" Armin asks.
"New orders came from the government. There's been a freeze on all Scout Regiment activity outside the wall." Levi says. "They're telling us to hand over Eren, Aya, and Historia."
"By the way, right after he gave me the message..." Nifa says, "The Military Police came for him."
"That's treating him like some sort of criminal!" Hange yells.
"Someone's not working from the shadows anymore." Eren says. "They're moving for all eyes to see."
"To go that far to protect the wall's secrets..." Dina frowns.
"I know that they want Eren and Aya, but why Historia too?" Hange asks.
"Who knows? It's clear that the enemy is after those three." Levi says. "Loitering around the area is dangerous. We're moving the three of them to Trost District."
"Why? That's the same place Pastor Nick was killed." Molbit asks.
"It's worse to head towards the interior. With Trost in a panic, it should be easy to slip in." Levi adds. "And if somehow it comes down to it, we can use these in the city. Plus, not knowing the enemy puts us in a tough spot. We need to find out who's behind this."
Then Hange decides to go with Erwin with Moblit, and she hands the rest of the group to Levi.
"Aya, if worst comes to worst use this. You'll be with these two in a cart and will be the one to defend them. Just try not to get caught in the meantime." Levi says and hands her a gun to use.
"What if I fail?" Ayane asks.
"If you do we'll come up with another plan, until then defend these two." Levi replies.
On the way further into the forest, Eren and Aya are walking together, Eren says, "Aya, I have something that I want to give you, considering that I might not be able to see you in the short amount of time."
"And what is it?" Aya asks, and Eren brings out a white bracelet, much to her surprise.
"When did you buy this?" Aya gasps.
"I didn't buy it, I made it all by myself while you guys were training..." Eren blushes a little. "I want to give it to you since we're already together."
"Oh, Eren..." Aya tears up a little as she leans to give Eren a kiss, then she says, "I love it."
Eren beams as Aya blushes at his smile. Then they all quickly head back to the others before noticing that they were gone.
Back in Trost, the full Levi squad is walking on the road as they notice the flags around the place. Dina frowns as she remembers her family flags, and Sasha says that it is the anniversary of the King's coordination, and the Military Police are handling the rations for others.
But just as they leave, a carriage appears and the people on it grab Eren, Historia, and Aya.
"Armi- I mean, Christa, Aya, and Eren! They got snatched away again!" Sasha yells.
Elsewhere, Eren, Ayane, and Historia sit in a covered-up carriage. "Will it really work... I mean, my sister looked like me, but..."
"We have to trust Katrina, Mikasa, and Armin." Aya says, "However, I just hope that the wig on Mikasa won't fall off that easily..."
In the storage, Katrina and Armin can only watch Mikasa fighting back, and she has to make sure that the wig isn't falling off.
"Tch... should have known the Captain's daughter was not only a catch but not submissive to a man when she should be." The man says, only to be kicked by Mikasa to the ground.
At the same time, Dina, Connie, Sasha, Peter, and Odom jump into the storage and attack the kidnappers, while Levi meets up with Nifa and the Hange Squad.
Mikasa takes off her wig and yells, "Connie! Are there only these four?"
"Yeah, that's it!" Connie replies. "Nobody else in the area!"
"All right! First, we tie these guys up, then we meet up with the captain." Dina says.
"What do you mean?" Armin asks.
"Captain's orders, and he sends a message, too." Dina replies.
When meeting with Nifa, Levi tells her about Kenny the Ripper. Unknown to them, Kenny is behind the two of them as he sneakily climbs up. Levi notices him, but it's too late, Nifa was shot and killed. And on the other roof, Abel was also shot by an Interior Police member.
"Yo, Levi. Have you grown any yet?" Kenny laughs as he jumps into the air using ODM gears. "Oh? It doesn't look like you changed at all!" Kenny aims at Levi and yells.
Levi takes out his blade and lets out a loud roar, "KEEEEENNNNNYYYY!"
Here is the chapter, I want to mention that Dina will be with the Levi Squad to help him, but the royal government and the Military Police didn't know of her existence. Not to mention, I decide to have Dina know what Zeke is doing, and what they're planning to do when Season 4 arrives. I hope you like this chapter and the next chapter will continue the fight with the Interior Police.
