Chapter 23: Final Battle With Giovanni! Team Rocket Turns Good?

Michael and Giovanni stared each other down.

Michael - "Well, well Giovanni. Seems like it's all come down to this."

Giovanni - "Yes it does young Michael. You've beaten me twice already. First at Team Rocket's hideout in Celadon, then again at Silph Co. I want payback for those losses boy!"

Michael - "And you'll get them if you can beat me here. However, IF I do win, then not only do I get the Earth Badge, but I also want to hear your answer to my business proposal."

Giovanni - "Deal."

Tim then stepped up on the referee's stand.

Tim - "This is the Viridian City Gym Battle between Gym Leader Leader Giovanni and Challenger Michael Masi of Pokémon Island. The battle will be four vs. all. The battle will continue until all Pokémon on one side are unable to continue. Are both sides ready?"

Giovanni/Michael - "Ready!"

Both trainers activated their Battle Disks.

Giovanni - "Go Dugtrio!"

Michael - "Greninja I choose you!"

Match #1: Greninja (Sea Incense) Vs. Dugtrio (Soft Sand)

Tim - "Greninja Vs. Dugtrio! Begin!"

Michael's Hand: 5 + 1 = 6

Giovanni's Hand: 5 + 1 = 6

Michael - "Let's go Greninja! Stronger and stronger!"

Calli - "Here it comes!"

Michael and Greninja roared as Greninja took on his Battle Bond ability's form. Everyone else, including Giovanni, were stunned at what they were seeing.

Giovanni - "So what if you take on a new form. Earth Booster! Use Earthquake!"

Michael - "Dark Booster, Ice Booster, Water Booster! Dark Ice Shuriken!"

Giovanni's Hand: 6 – 1 = 5

Michael's Hand: 6 – 3 = 3

Ground Booster (Giovanni): Turn 1/3

Dark Booster (Michael): Turn 1/3

Ice Booster (Michael): Turn 1/3

Earthquake's Current Power: 100 + 50 = 150 + 30 = 180 + 36 = 216

Ice Beam's Current Power: 90 + 18 = 108

Water Shuriken's Current Power: 20 + 10 = 30 + 6 = 36 + 7.2 = 43.2

Dugtrio set off an Earthquake. Or rather, he would've if Greninja didn't knock him out right away.

Tim - "Dugtrio is unable to battle! Greninja wins!"

Everyone was stunned silent at Greninja's display of power. Even Giovanni couldn't believe it.

Giovanni - "What is this?! How can that brat be this strong?!"

Giovanni then quickly collected himself.

Giovanni - "Return Dugtrio. Thank you for the attempt. Go Nidoqueen!"

Tim - "Challenger Michael. Will you switch Pokemon?"

Michael crossed his arms, silently saying no.

Michael - "However I will deactivate Dark Booster."

Dark Booster (Michael) ends

Match #2: Greninja (Sea Incense) Vs. Nidoqueen (Soft Sand)

Tim - "Greninja Vs. Nidoqueen! Begin!"

Extrasensory's Current Power: 80 + 16 = 96

Much like with Dugtrio, Nidoqueen was quickly knocked out before she could fire off her Earthquake.

Tim - "Nidoqueen is unable to battle! Greninja wins!"

Giovanni - "Damn. Return Nidoqueen. Thank you for trying. Go Nidoking! And I'll end Ground Booster as well!"

Tim - "Challenger Michael. Will you switch Pokemon?"

Michael - "How you holding up Greninja?"

Greninja gave a thumbs-up, signaling he was still good to go. Michael then crossed his arms, saying that Greninja was staying in.

Just like the two times before, Greninja completely overpowered Nidoking.

Everyone - "Just what is going on here?!"

Tim - "Nidoking is unable to battle! Greninja wins!"

Giovanni - "Nidoking return. Thank you for trying. Go Rhydon!"

Tim - "Challenger Michael. Will you change Pokémon?"

Michael - "Think you can go one more Greninja?"

Greninja - "Of course."

Michael crossed his arms.

Michael - "I'll also deactivate Psychic Booster as well."

Giovanni watched in complete disbelief as his entire team was dominated by a single Pokémon.

Tim - "Rhydon is unable to battle! Greninja wins! All four of Gym Leader Giovanni's Pokemon are unable to battle! So, the winner is the challenger, Michael Masi!"

Michael - "Let's go!"

Giovanni smiled, knowing he had truly been defeated this time. He stood up and returned Rhydon, then walked over to Michael and held out his hand.

Giovanni - "Well I truly got beat by you this time Michael. And as for your proposal, I accept."

Michael - "That's good to hear."

They were soon joined by the others.

Lance - "May we ask what the business proposal was?"

Michael - "It's pretty much to take the evil teams of the regions and turn them good."

Qrow - "How is that gonna work?"

Michael - "Quite simple really. During my travels across the regions, if I ever come across the head boss of the evil teams, then I hand them the letter that has my proposal on it."

Giovanni brought out said letter Michael gave him back at the Celadon hideout and handed it over to Lance. Lance gave the letter a once over, then handed it back to Giovanni.

Twilight - "So then you're gonna bring all the evil teams together into one big force for good?"

Giovanni - "He is. But from what I've heard, you're gonna wait on two teams until they have a change in leadership. Right?"

Michael - "Yep."

Ruby - "You mean Teams Galactic and Plasma, don't you?"

Tai - "Who else would Michael be talking about Ruby."

Ruby - "Point taken."

Giovanni cleared his throat.

Giovanni - "Anyway. On to other matters. Tim, if you would."

Tim - "Right."

Tim quickly went backstage, then returned with the Earth Badge on its tray. Giovanni then took the badge out of its tray.

Giovanni - "Michael. In accordance with the Pokémon League rules, I award you the Earth Badge."

Giovanni held out the Earth Badge, which Michael happily took.

Michael - "Alright! Badge number eight! We just won the Earth Badge!"

Greninja gave a lazy peace sign since he barely broke a sweat during the entire battle.

Giovanni - "Good luck in the Indigo Conference Michael. The rest of the Gym Leaders and I, along with all of Team Rocket, shall be cheering you on."

Michael - "Thanks Giovanni. That means a lot."

The party then left the Viridian Gym and returned to Pallet Town, where Michael quickly informed the professors on his PokéDex.
