He jammed on 8ths, she didn't play

But all of her friends stuck up there nose
They had a problem with his 'in-uniform' clothes.

He just drummed too much for her
She had a pretty face, but her flag was up in space
She needed to twirl back down to earth.

Five years from now, she sits at home
Practicing carousels
She's all alone

She goes to a show
Guess who she hears
Drummer boy rockin' in DCI Cavaliers

She looks to her friends, they already know
And they've all got tickets to see the next show

She tags along and sits in the crowd
Looks at the drummer that she turned down.
