"It isn't humane to do experiments like that!" Vincent ran a hand
through his silken hair, unnerved by Hojo's calm exterior.
"Vincent, you must understand; she and I are both scientists." He
smoothed down his white lab coat, unresponsive to the very serious
conversation. Vincent clenched his teeth. He didn't care if it was for
science or not. Lucrecia was his only true love, and he felt an urge to
wring the frail professor's neck for taking her away from him.
"But don't you even think about what this is doing to her? She was
found face down on the floor just yesterday! Don't you even care?!" Hojo
looked up sharply at the last statement, angered by it. "I never said I
didn't care. This is for the sake of science! This could be a major break
through!" His hands were held outward, motioning wildly, as if that would
make Vincent understand.
"Does this 'major' breakthrough mean sacrificing the one you
supposedly love?" He asked gruffly, holding his own hands out for
emphasis. "She's PREGNANT for God's sake! She shouldn't be injected with
some toxic chemicals that could damage her or even her unborn child!"
Vincent was satisfied that he seemed to be cracking down on Hojo's
indifferent exterior.
"I see you still care for her, even if she left you, and you care for
a child that isn't yours..i see, I see." Hojo laughed, despite his anger
by this Turk that stood before him. It was true, even if Lucrecia left him
for this mad scientist; he still cared for her, and would do anything to
save her.
"Hojo, if I have to kill you to make you stop, then that can and will be
arranged." Vincent tried to keep his tone steady, but his voice wavered.
Hojo smirked. "Is that a threat?" He asked, hand trailing to the lower
pocket of his lab coat. Vincent, unaware of Hojo's actions didn't respond
by words or actions, but the glare of his red eyes said all that needed to
be known.
"I'll say it again, Hojo. These experiments aren't fit for monsters, so
why test on Lucrecia? You are putting her in potential danger.what if all
fails? What then? How will you live with yourself knowing that you
intentionally put one that you should love and cherish in the pathway of
death? HOW WILL YOU LIVE WITH IT?"
He finally had enough. With a shake of his head, Hojo had his handgun out.
He fired without hesitation, and Vincent's sharp intake of breath was
heard for eternity, and he finally fell, right hand clasped tightly around
his left arm.
***
Vincent was vaguely aware of bright lights shining in his face and his left
arm felt strangely abnormal. His voice sounded distant, and he began to
wonder if he was alive. "Easy." Hojo's voice was strangely close and
pronounced, but he had not time to think of it since his eyes drooped again
and he drifted into sleep again.
***
Vincent woke up again, the bright lights were gone, but the room was lit
all the same. He felt odd, as if he wasn't himself. He flexed his muscles
and was horrified to hear clinks and clanks from his left hand. He
hesitated to look down, but did anyway and saw that his arm was completely
deformed.
His anger flared higher and higher and finally, he felt himself
changing.changing into Galian Beast.
