Author's Note: Gosh, I've been so busy and even though right now its like 10:30 I feel the inspiration to write. So here it goes. BTW for those of you who don't know Into the Woods is the Stephen Sondheim musical with all the fairy tales. GREAT!

The Baker's Wife's Story

The Baker's wife prepared to go with her husband on his journey into the woods.

"No, you are not coming," he said when she came out.

"I know you are fearful of the woods at night."

"The spell is on my house, only I can break the spell."

"No no the spell is on our house, we must break the spell together the spell is on OUR house."

He ignored her, "Now what am I to return with?"

She sighed, the man was hopeless, "You don't remember, the cow as white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, the slipper as pure as gold."

He tried to repeat the items back to her, first skipping the slipper then the hair. She corrected him, shaking her head. That man could never remember anything. Short and balding, he was far from the tall handsome prince she had once envisioned herself with.

"I wish.," she thought.

"I am going," the Baker said interrupting her thoughts, he gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, "I should be home before dark."

"Goodbye, dear," she knew very well he wouldn't be home before dark and had made up her mind to follow him. It was going to take the two of them to get this baby.

As she watched him trotting down the dirt road that led into the woods, she remembered their courtship.

Afterward: A quick chapter one to get things started. Please review! Thank you!
