The Detention Song

I'd been sitting in Potions class

stirring my Potion in the cauldron of brass - for minutes

When it suddenly turned blue with a certain shade of green

I was hoping the Professor hadn't seen

But I already heard his voice in a most unpleasant tone:

"I guess you may have noticed your Potion's kinda blue

It was supposed to have just the colour of my shoe

and I'd say this is one of the main reasons for - Detention!"

"Please meet me in the dungeons tomorrow after school

Don't think of playing hooky cause I'm not some kind of fool

I expect you to come and we'll see about your - Detention!"

So I went to the dungeons at one o'clock sharp

Already heard the angels playing the harp - in heaven

What would he have in mind for my punishment?

What would he do to make me repent?

Well I'd soon find out - there he was and he said:

"I see at least you're punctual! Come in and close the door!

You start with cleaning cauldrons, if you like I'll give you more

But at first this should do so please start off with your - Detention!"

(Yes Sir - please give me Detention!)

"There's nothing like giving students a hard time

I love to let them work, sweet is vengeance and it's mine

Cause they hate me even more sitting here with me in - Detention!"

(Yes Sir - sweet is your Detention!)

I cleaned the cauldrons, I really paid my debt

He even forced me to make his bed - I'm glad it's over!

With a sneer on his face he comes walking up to me

and he says "Now, I'm happy to see -

you fulfilled the first part of your detention.

There's plenty of work that's waiting just for you

The floor needs to be swept and you could do the dishes, too

What's the point of leaving here not being finished with your - Detention!"

(Ugh! Even more Detention!)

"Don't look at me like that, cause Detention's good for you

Just think it over well and you'll see that it is true

You will thank me for giving you work to do in - Detention!"

(Yes Sir! Thank you for Detention!)

"Now they hate it but I simply love giving them - Detention."
