Hey! I know I haven't written in awhile, and Defying Destiny is
lagging. I know, I haven't updated since, like December... and
I'm REALLY sorry! I will have chapter four out by next week.
For some reason I'm having problems writing that chapter. (I
had it all written and the computer ate it so now I've decided to
rewrite the whole thing.) Anyway, this a short story about Minako.
It takes place after Kunzite is taken over by Metalia. It's kindda
depressing so, if ya wanna happy fic, go somewhere else.

Breaking Point

"He loves me, he loves me not. He loves me, he loves
me not..." Minako whispered as she plucked the delicate petals of
her favorite flower, the daisy. The stems, now absent of what made
them beautiful, lay strewn over her bed. They had been the flowers
he had given her for a going away present. She snickered, a going
away present. Blinking, she stopped at the last, lonely petal that hung
pathetically to the slender stem. She bit her lip as her fingers reached
towards the silky petal. Clasping two fingers around it, she pulled.
"He loves me." she said in a hollow voice as she stared at
the petal in awe. Her lips trembled slightly as her eyes narrowed in
anger. "No." she whispered, her voice cracking slightly. Raising her
voice she shouted in absolute despair, "No, he doesn't! He LEFT
me!" she ended, screaming loudly.
Sobbing, her fingers flew open in shock as the petal floated
to the floor. Crying to herself her hands, flew to her face in defeat as she
started to bawl for the first time in two weeks. And, for the first time,
in a long time, she was just a girl with a broken heart. She felt so empty.
She wanted the pain to go away, the pain of knowing there was nothing
to live for. She wanted to die.
Sniffling, she wiped her eyes, willing herself not to cry. The
hands, which had only a few seconds ago been hiding her tears, dropped
to her lap as she looked up. Her eyes, that had been so full of life and love
were dead; void of all emotion. She couldn't die, she thought, she must
live for Serenity; only Serenity. It was her duty. It was her curse.
As if on key, a loud explosion rumbled in the distance and
many panic stricken cries of people attending the party rang out below.
Minako's head snapped up with a mechanical likeness as she saw the smoke
from the explosion. She winced, knowing what was about to come as she
grabbed her henshin pen.
"Metallia's forces have broken through the front lines. No one was
expecting an attack this early!" Artemis shouted as he ran in her room. He
looked up at her and, in his panic, didn't notice her tear stained face that was
the only remains of her outburst earlier. "Notify the others, I must find Luna
and the queen!" She nodded briskly as she watched him leave.
"Stay safe, Artemis." she said softly to herself as she thought of the
only person she could tell anything to. "Stay safe."
Glancing out the window once more she saw the soft glow of
Kunzite's aura in the distance. One of us would die, she thought, and she was
afraid it couldn't be her.

Hoped you liked it... I really don't know why I wrote this... I just felt
like it... Sorry Minako! And it was short! REALLY SHORT. *sweatdrop* I
