Disclaimer: Don't own them! Never meant to make money off of this- don't sue. Just borrowed them for a story I'm sure Chris Carter may not be too happy with. Though, maybe as a scene from "The Truth…" Oh, feedback please! =) Hope you like my story…it should be continued. Shall be a tandem story, if they hate it, guess it is up to me to finish it. This is my first actual fanfic. Published. Cooool. K, I shall shut up now.         ~Tori

Tandem Fanfic                                part one by Tori

Mulder drove down the lonely highway, Scully in the passenger seat next to him. She was too busy yawning to protest about him driving, yet again. The Ford's headlights made a crescent of light surrounding them, as if they drove a lantern. Nearly all you could make out were vague, swooping hills. All in shades of gray.

Asphalt, flat desert expanse, the low hills. Scully looked out and watched the yellow lane divider. It swayed back and forth, back and forth. Slowly, the monotony lulled her eyelids shut. She let her body fall back and nestle against the seat. "It has been…such a long day…" Scully thought drowsily. Mulder broke his gaze from the never changing blacktop and saw his exhausted partner.

He saw the peace on her face, finally there after he had been dragging her around Texas all week. His lip trembled a moment. "I'm sorry Scully…" It truly had been a tiring week. Chiding himself, he recalled that, be it will, this was how they belonged. As frustrating and as wonderful as it could be, but always in a stubborn pursuit of the truth. Scully and Mulder.

Feeling sorry for all the stress he had caused her, Mulder reached out his arm and gently wrapped it around Scully's shoulders.

She shifted a moment as if to speak, then a smile passed over her face. Scully laid her red-crowned head to rest deeper on Mulder's arm. He felt her shoulders go limp. Scully made a tiny sigh. Holding his best friend, Mulder felt quite content, and oh so sleepy. Yet, they had not reached their destination- somehow, he didn't give a damn.
