Dimensions

They stand there and watch as your life force ebbs away. No one cares and those that should are lost to you. Through your own misfortune you condemned yourself as you lie in wait unshielded. You're vulnerable, caught in a cross roads as the past comes back to haunt you.

A friendly face is a memory and love is little more than a shadow. You've forgotten what's important and feel only defeat as you slowly slide into a void of blissful emptiness, devoid of feelings and emotions. Or so you thought but it is not to be true, even here the memories haunt you, will they ever leave you alone? Somewhere far away you feel a tear slide down a cheek. But that reality is another dimension, lost to you just like everything else except the memory of her face as the tears slid over her cheeks, the look of sadness as she realised it was to late and you hear her voice as she tells you she loves you and you feel the remembered pain of your heart break in two, as she ends her life. And you play through the scene watching over and over, till you're like fragmented, a broken shell of who you once were. You failed at everything and feel defeat, you couldn't even succeed in destroying yourself.

In that other reality you hear a machine start to beep and panicked voices giving orders, but that's a world away. You feel yourself slipping into a reality were your memories can't follow where you will be left in peace to ebb and flow on a broken tide of fragmented souls. But that haven drifts away and an insistent voice is calling to you. You try to fight but there is no strength left in you to get away, and you are drawn into a broken body as the beeping settles down. A familiar voice calls to you asking you to open your eyes. But you don't want to, you don't want to acknowledge that place of pain. But the voice is insistent it calls and begs, and slowly the words make sense and you recognise her voice and you remember what you used to live for. You squeeze her hand and smile up into her face and slowly slip into a wonderfully peaceful sleep with the picture of her smiling face imprinted in your mind and you know that for know you will continue to live and as you sink into that place of sleep, your last conscious memory is hearing her whispered words.

"Please don't leave me. You know I'll always love you."
