JESUS
Innocent of all crimes
He never sinned
He was sentenced to death
While a killer was freed
He was betrayed by a kiss
For thirty coins of silver
His friends ran, denied Him
Before the rooster crowed three times
He carried the cross
Through the roads of the town
A crown of thorns on His head
Jeered and put down
Nails through His hands
Nails through His feet
Stabbed in the side
Hanging by a thief
"The King of the Jews"
They mocked Him
"Save yourself if you can."
He could have had His Father in Heaven send down angels
To save His own life
Instead He chose to die
So that we might have a chance at Paradise
He forgave His killers
Even through the pain
"Father forgive them
for they know not what they do."

The sun darkened
An earthquake rent the earth
The Son of God died
He gave His life on the cross
Three days later He rose again
Was seen by witnesses, dined with His friends
Forty days later, He returned to Heaven
Promising that one day, He would return
You don't have to believe in Him
You can curse His name
But no matter what
His love for you will never change
He gave His life on the cross
For you, for me, for all of humanity
"I will be with you always…."
