Title: My only escape
Author: Tryphaena
Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars or any aspect of it (please don't sue me, I have no money!) This is just one of my ideas to what I think could have happened.
Summary: AU, I think (you never know, it could've happened). This is a story about Padmé when she is young. She is tired of her life and just needs time to relax and be herself.
As she lay on the ground, the very tall grasses that surrounded her seemed to envelop her. As they grass swayed back and forth along with the light breeze, she became mesmerized with her surroundings and would drift into her fantasies. She was lost to reality, not caring about time, or worrying about business. This was her favorite escape from the world. She could lie there looking up at the sky for hours, and no one would know where she was. She could daydream forever and never grow bored. She often lost all sense of time and she liked it that way. She only wished she could stay there forever.
It had been a month since she had last had a break. A month since she had really stopped to rest and dream as a child should. But in the world that she had grown up in, there was no time for childish games. No time for rest and relaxation. And although she liked what she was doing for the world, she couldn't help but feel a little angry that she couldn't take a couple days off. After all, she was only twelve years old. Why did she have to be rushed around to do things for other people when her simple request of rest was denied? She loved what she did, but everyone needs a break once in a while.
What she wanted most right now, was the chance to be a kid. She wanted to be able to run freely through the tall grasses without a care in the world. Living life, as she should, and experiencing the things that she had not yet experienced. But instead of that she was laying in the grasses, hiding from the world. It was her only tranquility and she was going to take full advantage of it.
This weekend was the one time she had break. She was at her family's lake retreat and she was hiding in the meadows. One time her sister had found her laying in the grasses, just like today. She made Sola promise not to tell anyone where she was. But just to be safe, she relocated herself to another part of the field. It worked out good because; just as she had guessed Sola had gone looking for her in that same spot the next day. She still didn't know where Padmé's new spot was.
Padmé shut her eyes and drifted off into a light sleep. Until she heard her name called more than once. Slowly she sat up, making sure to hide herself in case Sola was near. She realized that it was now getting dark and that she would have to get home soon. She layed back down for a couple minutes and then decided it was time to go home.
She sighed, knowing that she would have to leave her dream world and go back to reality. Go back to a world where it seemed that nobody cared. To the world that she had chosen to live her whole life in. The world of politics was awaiting her.
