"Will we meet again someday?"

"Yes, we will.."

"For sure?"

"For sure!" "Now go. Remember don't look back!"

"Maybe this was all just a dream.."

A young woman stood in front of an enormous bathhouse. It had long been abandoned, while the paint was cracked and faded in numerous places. The sky above was dark and clouds swelled with rain, threatening to burst without notice. Something was strange, and even mystical about this setting.

A slight breeze rustled the grass and swayed the chocolate brown wisps of the woman's hair. She brushed them back and gazed again at the bathhouse. Her eyes appeared to be a very dark brown, almost ebony.. yet so much sorrow reflected from these mirrors.

"Haku. you promised didn't you? You promised. but why then, am I standing here alone? I've waited.. waited.. 10 long years. Each year I would come back to this place.. where we had first met.. and every time I would be greeted with silence. I can't even see the spirits anymore.. nothing is here! Maybe I've lost that power too, as I've lost you.. But what scares me most... Is that maybe.. possibly.. this is the truth... That nothing... ever was here...."

The words escaped her lips as she fell to the ground. Defeated, and ever more so, in realization of her own words. Everything seemed to end. Her head throbbed with pain and her vision blurred. She covered her face with her hands and ever so slowly uttered one word.

"Haku..."

A single glistening tear fell and left its cold and distinct mark on the ground. She looked down and carefully touched the mark, fearing that it too was not reality. Thunder split the skies at that very moment, and the clouds finally broke from the weight of water. Only a few drops hit the ground at first, then it fell harder, becoming a downpour in mere seconds.

The woman's clothes were soaked, but still, she sat there; head bowed and silent. Perhaps, she was even oblivious of her surroundings. Rain continued to pelt all that was below. too much for the ground to swallow and now it was collecting in pools.

"What is this? Why is it so.. cold.." she shuttered.

Water was everywhere.. it was rising higher and higher... until this woman was engulfed entirely. Her outstretched hand... frantically grasped for air, but it was already too late. All she could do was fall... fall deeper and deeper into the awaiting depths that held nothing... nothing and yet... everything that was unknown...

Author's note: I know this was very short, but I wanted to start something and leave a story that can be built upon and improved, not set in stone. This was clumsy effort of mine, and I apologize if it is not of your liking. Please leave any comments and/or suggestions. I would love to hear from all of you and hopefully, you will enjoy reading this as much as I will have writing it. ^-^

Until next time~! ^_^x

Disclaimer: Spirited Away and all the characters introduced up to this point belong to Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. In no way do I claim them as my own.
