"Scar, I have told you, the lionesses have looked all over the Pride Lands. They found nothing, the herds have moved on. There is nothing to hunt for."
"They aren't looking hard enough! Tell them to search again, and this time hunt properly!" Scar shouted.
Sarabi rolled her eyes and, fed up, she lazily left to return to Sarafina and the other lionesses.
"What did he say?" Sarafina asked when she reached them.
"He said to look harder," Sarabi sighed.
"He can wait, I'm too tired."
Sarabi sighed and looked at the stars of the darkening sky. She wondered if Mufasa or Simba were watching over her.
"I know what Mufasa would say about this," Sarafina claimed, reading the expressions on her friends' face.
"He would say leave scar and live a new life," Sarabi finished her sentence. "But that's not easy when hyenas are prowling around the borders."
Sarabi layed down and rested her head on her paws. She imagined what it would be like if Simba lived. She imagined him and Nala ruling and imagined a grandchild. The Circle of Life would be complete. She thought about all this and smiled. Then she wondered about the future. Would the rest of her life be like this? Hungry and angry? What would happen to her, Sarafina and the other lionesses?
A sudden gust of wind blew on her and she could feel Mufasa's presence. She smiled.
"I have given up all hope, Mufasa."
Another gust of wind blew on her which left her wondering if Simba really was dead. She had never felt his presence in the wind. Silent tears ran down her face and she fell asleep.
