Amanda woke up to her mom screaming at her. She didn't want to get up.
School wasn't worth it. Her mom screamed once again and she finally drug
herself out of bed. After getting dressed, she grabbed her backpack and ran
downstairs. It was going to be another long day at school...
Getting off the bus, she looked at the school. Outside it was beautiful. A bright blue sky, a couple clouds. Kids running and bumping into her. She couldn't believe that in four months she was going to be in high school. Things were going to change, and she was hoping for the better.
After her last class of the day, her best friend Brianna came running up to her. Her big brown eyes were glowing with excitment and she was pulling her short dark blonde hair into a ponytail.
"Are you coming??" Brianna screemed, halfway down the hallway.
Mandy looked at her and stifled a laugh, "Am i suppose to be going somewhere?"
Brianna looked at Mandy, looking a little mad,"You forgot didn't you?"
Mandy tried to think about what she forgot, but nothing came to mind, "Ummm...", She sighed,"I'm sorry, I don't remember."
Brianna let out a grunt,"Cheerleading tryouts, remember?"
Mandy smiled,"That's right! When are they?"
Brianna slapped her arm,"Now!!! We're suppose to be there in fifteen minutes!"
Mandy looked at her, a little shocked,"Oh, but I don't have anything to wear", she looked down at her black alien t-shirt and her grubby jeans then looked back up at Brianna,"I can't wear this, I won't be able to move!"
Brianna smiled,"I figured you'd forget, so I brought and extra pair of shorts. Your shirt will do. No biggy."
Mandy smiled back,"Thank you, can you bring them down to the gym? I have to call my parents and ask them if they can pick me up after tryouts."
"I suppose."
"Thanks." And with that she ran down the stairs and to the phone. She managed to find twenty five cents in her messy backpack and quickly dialed her home number. She waited three rings before her mom picked up.
"Hello?" Her mom sounded more cheerful then she did that morning.
"Hey mom?" Mandy asked.
Her mom sighed,"What do you want now?"
Mandy laughed a little,"I just wanted to let you know that cheerleading tryouts are tonight and that me and Bri will be there...", She paused for a moment,"Can you pick me up when it's done?" She closed her eyes hoping her mom would say yes.
Her mom sighed,"Yeah, I suppose. What time?"
Mandy smiled,"six thirty."
"Ok. I'll be there, but don't take your time coming out. I hate waiting outside so long for you. I'll leave your ass there if your not outside in five minutes." Her mom said sternly.
Mandy giggled,"I'll be out there, don't worry."
And with that her mom hung up. Mandy was excited, she's was trying out to be a cheerleader. But at the same time she was frightend. She wasn't skinny, but she wasn't really fat either. But she was still scared of people making fun of her. That's all she could think about during tryouts.
After tryouts were over, she quickly ran outside to meet her mom. She looked around the parking lot and found the car and ran over and jumped in.
"How did it go?" Her mom asked as Mandy got in the car.
Mandy grinned,"It was ok.. It's actually pretty easy. So far anyways."
The rest of the car ride home was pretty quiet. When they did get home, she ran up to her room and talked on the phone and finally fell asleep.
