"Where did you get it?"

"Where do you think?"

"It was in my office kid, you took it from me!"

"I maintain my innocence!"

"We should have never let you go to that U2 concert!"

"Ah well, we should have never let you buy the damn unicorns either."

"What are you talking about?"

"If it was in your eye, you'd know it."

"I'm calling your mother Jesse."

"Fine by me."

"Marie!"

Footsteps, and then the door opened.  "Yes Logan?"

"Your son is a complete smartass."

"Gee, that's a surprise."

"Yeah, Logan, where do you think I get it from?"

"The name is dad to you, bub."

"Yes sir, sergeant major dad sir!" Jesse said with a mock salute.

"I'm not kidding Jesse, if that gerbil isn't back in my office in one hour.  There is going to be hell to pay boy."

"Yes sir, pontiff, Pont ate, Royal Highness daddy sir!"

Logan huffed and retreated.  "Oh look mom, dad's gonna go cry now!"

"Jesse, it really isn't nice to tease your father you know."

"Yeah, but it's just so fun.  He gets so worked up about his precious little mini Marie."

"I can't believe he named a gerbil after me."

"Well mom, rumor has it that's not all he named after you" Jesse said before he tore out of the room.

"Jess James Logan!  You get back here this instant!"   Marie called out half serious, half laughingly.

"Ah, parents.  So many ways to torture them" he said as he dropped a hooded gerbil back into a cage sitting on a desk.

He walked away planning the next big thing to hassle his parents with.  It was good to be him.
