Carly ripped open the envelope with shaking hands. The results inside the envelope would determine the future of her and Sonny's relationship. She looked at the results and couldn't believe her eyes. She read it over again but the result was still the same. A tear escaped from her eye and she brushed it back. She was putting the results back in the envelope when Sonny grabbed it out of her hands.
"Sonny no!" She cried but he had already looked at the results.
"I knew it," He announced, showing everyone in the room the proof that he was indeed the father of Alexis's baby.
The silence in the room was deafening and finally Carly couldn't handle it any longer. She ran out of the room as fast as her legs would carry her.
"This is not over." Sonny told Alexis and left the room.
"Alexis, are you okay?" Ned asked.
She didn't say anything, instead she focused on trying to breath normally but she was immensely failing.
"Alexis, calm down, it will be okay." He stroked her hair, reassuringly.
When she didn't calm down he went to the door. "Nurse?!"
He went back to her side as the nurse came in. "What is the problem?" Then she noticed Alexis.
"Ms. Davis, you need to calm down." The nurse strapped a blood pressure monitor on her arm.
Another nurse came in. "Get a mild sedative for Ms. Davis right away." The nurse ran out to fulfill her duty.
When the nurse came back with the sedative and Alexis had taken it, her breathing started to return to normal.
The nurse turned to Ned and Edward. "I'm sorry but you two need to leave, she needs her rest."
They nodded. "Alexis, don't worry. I'll be back as soon as I can." He kissed her on the cheek and followed Edward out of the room.
"How could you do that? How could you ruin the lives of Alexis and her baby?" Ned asked Edward, angrily.
"I would think you would be glad I did what I did." Edward answered calmly.
"How could I possibly be glad?"
"The child wasn't yours." He said simply.
"That isn't the point!"
"Of course it is Ned, why—"
"You will pay!"
"Now Ned, lets not go making threats."
"It isn't a threat, it's a guarantee. I swear I will make you pay!" Ned stalked off.
"He should be thanking me." Edward huffed.
Sonny was walking towards the car in the hospital parking lot when he saw Jason. Knowing Carly would wait up for him at home he decided there was no harm in stopping to talk to Jason.
"Hey Jason." He greeted him.
"Sonny, what's wrong with Carly. I saw her in the hospital and she seemed really upset but she wouldn't tell me why." Jason had concern written all over his face.
"Yeah uh about that…"
Jason looked at his boss and friend directly in the face.
"I'm the father of Alexis's baby."
Jason was clearly shocked. "But…I thought Ned was the father."
"That's what I thought too but the DNA test proved otherwise."
"Carly was there when you found out?" Jason asked.
"She was actually the first one who saw the DNA results."
"She didn't take it that well I take it."
"Jason, she knew the baby was mine."
"What?"
"Alexis told her months ago that I was the father and she never told me until recently."
Jason winced. "She knew?"
"Another lie."
"Sonny, there has to be an explanation. Go home to your wife and talk it out."
"You're right, I need to get home. Thanks."
"No problem." Jason watched as Sonny left and let out a sigh. "Carly, what have you done now."
