Prologue:
Arien clenched her fists and bit her lip to stop herself from screaming. She took deep calming breaths and tried once again. "Father, I wish to see the sea and perhaps sail across." Her father smiled(A/N: Ya noe that irritating smile adults have like that humouring u??) And answered "My daughter, your mother died fighting the sea. She fell out of a ship and drowned. You have the same WEAKNESS in your blood. You will fall in love with the sea like your mother, she was foolish, and will lose your life to it. My answer remains unchanged: No you will not." He smiled encouragingly and added "You could find something to do I'm sure" Ari stopped short of slapping the dotard: The King of Rhun.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
Ari let out her feelings in one LOUD blast. That felt good . She grit her teeth and walked to a nearby house. "Kairynn?" A tall, handsome elf stepped out. "What did he say?" "No I cannot come with you..." The elf's face fell. "I'll think of something" he promised Ari and she left, alone to her own thoughts.
Ari walked along the gravel path of her country:The forest of Rhun. The people were too dumb to see the wrongness in her father's judgement's and accepted his mistakes without a second thought. They were too busy acting as blacksmiths for they were the last left of the dark elves and had no wish to see the light of the Undying lands(A/N: Sorry for rambling)
Her thoughts turned to Kairynn, who had proclaimed his love for her upon learning she was a princess. A bitter smile tainted her tanned face as she thought about her own feelings for the elf who wanted to marry her. She liked him no more than as a friend and she had agreed to elope out of pity for him. But he always wanted her to behave more like the ladies in his father's court who found no better joy than fawning around the male members. She would much rather be spending her time fighting orcs and the trolls foolish enough to stray into the boundaries of her nation.
"Ari?" Came a soft voice from somewhere behind her. Kairynn came to view looking sorrowful "I'm sorry, my love, I can do nothing to help you. I shall be leaving for Greenwood the great as planned but I'm afraid you cannot come." Ari turned to face him " This is goodbye, then?" Kairynn nodded. Ari's voice was unemotional " Well- I suppose I had better leave then." She turned and left , walking farther into the more dangerous part of the kingdom.
Kairynn watched her with a relieved smile on his face and left to return to his home.
Ari watched as the company left the next day. Pretty, flaky, dumb elf Sinalwen had her arm around Kairynn who leaned down and thrust his tongue into her mouth. Ari's left eyebrow shot up and she turned away in disgust as she thought about how just the day before he told her how much he loved her.
" Funny how fast people's ideas change" said her best friend Maeglom
"Hmmmmm" was Ari's reply as she watched how happy they seemed together both naturally not caring how she might feel. Right now, it felt as if she could not trust anyone anymore....and how true that was.
