Title: Time Traveler to the Third Age
This isn't really a chapter; it's more of a prologue/synopsis. It doesn't really have anything to do with Lord of the Rings, yet, but LotR will come to the picture in the first actual chapter. It might suck at first, because I began writing it to pass time, and because I had begun writing it, but had gotten rid of the first copy. (I had gotten to where the F-ship was in Lorien! How could I?)
Disclaimer: I own the idea. DUH!!!

"June 21, 2481. I will never forget that date, for it is the date on which three friends and I changed history. We were about to prove to the world that time travel was possible. The world had long wanted to be able to change that past, and now - it was possible. 9:32 A.M. I was in basement in the mansion I lived in with my stepfamily, the Richardson's. In the basement with me were three of my friends, Robert, Matt, and Hermione. The 4 of us were sci-fi freaks. That's why we were in the basement in the first place. Ever since we had seen The Time Machine starring Guy Pierce, we had been determined to build a Time machine that worked. So, we began to haul old junk from odd places, and set to work. 8 years later, we were ready to try the machine to see if it worked. As the Richardson's were not home, my friends and I were pretty much able to do whatever we pleased without disruption. This was a relief, because, if the Richardson's found out about the machine, they, like most people, would be ready to send the 4 of us to a funny farm. So, as soon as we were alone, we - Robert, Matt, Hermione, and I - ran downstairs to mess with the machine, and took our positions. Me on the machine (because I was the most adventurous), Robert at his self-assigned lookout post, Matt at the time/date dial, and Hermione at the computer, ready to send me wherever, as the machine was able to do that, too. 'Hermione,' I shouted, 'Hobbiton in the Shire. Matt, September 22 - Bilbo and Frodo Baggins birthday party.' There was a flash of light, than everything disappeared.
