She gagged as she vomited the tonic.
"Phoebe. Phoebe?" She heard Cole call her name, but she just kept splashing the cool water on her face, hoping it would was her problems away.
She heard orbs, which could only mean one thing. Piper, Leo, and Paige had com. Fear clutched her heart. She knew they could never fight Cole. Not with out her.
"You evil son of a bitch." Paige's voice broke the awkward silence that had filled the room.
"Phoebe get out here and help us damn it." The desperation in Piper's voice was obvious. Phoebe wanted to go outside and help them, but she knew that helping them would kill Cole. Suddenly, she heard a crash.
"Paige!" she silently screamed, hoping her new baby sister was okay.
"Don't make me kill you." She held herself even tighter as a particularly large sob shook her body. His voice was low and almost dripping with evil. Was he really evil?
"Phoebe, you heard what he said. He's going to kill us. Come help us!"
She couldn't stop the tears. They just kept falling and she couldn't seem to catch her breath. But she knew what she had to do.
"Forgive me." She whispered as she opened the door.
She quietly picked up the fifth crystal. Looking up, she saw the fireball in Cole's hand.
"I'm sorry. It's. it's for the best." He said, trying to justify what he was about to do.
"I know it is." She couldn't let him suspect anything, or he'd kill her sisters in a second. She couldn't let him suspect anything. Ironic, she thought. He was her husband and now he's just another demon she's killing.
She stepped closer to him, needing to kiss him one last time.
"I'm sorry too." She knelt down and put the last crystal in place. Just as she saw the force field appear around Cole, it hit her. She was killing the love of her life.
"Phoebe, no. NO!" He screamed in desperation.
"I'm sorry, baby. I'm so sorry." She could barely get those seven words out.
"Prudence, Penelope, Patricia, Melinda,"
What am I doing? She asked herself.
"Astrid, Helena, Laura, and Grace,"
"I'll always love you."
What am I doing? She asked herself again as she saw the real Cole come out. He wasn't the Source. He wasn't a demon. He was just Cole. Her salsa- dancing, wine-loving, walking in the park, ticklish Cole.
"Halliwell witches, stand strong beside us."
What am I doing?
"Vanquish this evil," What was she saying? Cole wasn't evil.
"From time and space."
Suddenly, she felt the urgent need to disappear. She needed to run away but she was paralyzed in anguish. So, she buried her head in Piper's shoulder. She heard his last cry of pain she heard the explosion. She knew it was over.
She turned and walking into the middle of the room, stopping when she reached the scorch mark. Thoughts raced through her mind. How could they have fixed this? Could she have not killed Julie? Could she have been less protective of Cole? Could she have kept Emma from the manor? Or maybe it went further back. Maybe if she had stripped Cole's powers when she first got the chance; when he was offering; before he went back to the Underworld; before Prue died. She knew it didn't matter anymore now that he was gone. But she couldn't help but wonder: Where did it go wrong?
