A Question Not Answered

Far into the night I can see it
Light burning faintly but strong
And I wonder where it all ends
Begins..
Rain platters lightly onto me
Dripping beads from strands of hair
Closed eyes, soft spoken words
Sealed lips, images still fresh
Absent caresses
I stand in front of this warmth
So foreign and yet
Familiar
Cold brushes past me but
It doesn't faze me
The light beckons to me
And I follow
Engulfed in endless white
Dreamt of flying, swimming through
The blinding bliss of space
Everything closes around me
Tightly
Choking
I do not gasp or struggle
Submerged into those empty voids
Stretch out my arms
A light smile pulls at the corners of my lips
The air that separates me from this light
Suddenly
Dissappears
The distance grows short and yet it's so far away
I jerk my arms away
Water slides back down onto me
The clothes grow heavy and so does the rain
Gently, I offer my arm to the light
Will you take my hand?
