The Cherry Blossom Of Oz By: Nikki Tan
There once lived a lion that could actually talk. It name was Derek. (s/n: Corny name huh.) A kind man called Oscar took in Derek. Derek was thought courageous by its master, was actually a cowardly lion.
Derek lives in a circus that travels around the world. It knows how to do all kinds of tricks but the only thing that bothers it is that it is scared of everything. (s/n: too cowardly for a lion huh. U thinks so too.)
After a long day of work on the performance on Monday, his master took him for a ride on the hot air balloon. When Derek stepped into the hot air balloon, his master gave him a badge of courage just like everyone else had when they took a ride on the hot air balloon.
Suddenly, something terrible happened. The string that held on to the hot air balloon snapped into two, and they got drifted away.
The next morning, they found themselves drifting across a beautiful and peaceful island called Oz. The hot air balloon's door has been broke into ten large pieces. Just then, Derek tripped over something and went drifting down to Oz leaving poor Oscar in the hot air balloon. " CRASH! " Derek landed beside a tree with a thump. But this tree was not an ordinary tree. Just like Derek it could talk too. It said, " Welcome to the land of Oz "
" BOOM! " a witch appeared out of nowhere. She had a long crooked nose, pimples and her face and a big ugly green mouth. You just cannot imagined how ugly she was. (s/n: did I exaggerate too much?)
She said to Derek "Derek I know where your friend, Oscar is. He is with me in the dungeons. If you want him back, find the flower of Oz and give it to me. " Upon saying this, she disappeared in a puff of smoke.
When Derek heard this, it asked the tree " Who and what is this flower of Oz? " The tree replied " The flower of Oz was a very beautiful young girl. She would still be the most powerful person even if both good witches and bad witches put together, she can never be defeated. " And so Derek asked the tree again " Where can I find this flower of Oz? " The tree replied " I can only tell you one thing. Head towards north. " Derek asked again " Which way is north? " The tree replied " That way. " And with that, Derek's journey begins.
