Raynor sat on his couch. Tired of his phone being off the hook all day. People from the UED had been calling him all day. Finally he got up and answered one after a 3-hour period. "Yes?" "Mr. Raynor?" "Yes, what is it?" "Sir, well, we'd like you to come to the UED base in your town, we'd like to talk to you." "How about not. I don't want to re-enlist as a general, marshal, or anything. I'm tired of seeing Zerg, Protoss, and Terrans being blow to bits." Raynor said, and with that, the phone was back on the hook. He walked slowly back to the couch and picked up the remote. He watched reruns of an old TV show, until he was hungry. Outside, the weather was the worst it had been. The rain was hard, and it came in mass amounts. People were running under newspapers and other various objects of that sort. Raynor, only in a coat and hat was fine. He was used to harsh conditions, worse then this. 'I guess all those years in that metal can they call a Vulture paid off on my weather resistance' Raynor thought as he walked in the torrential down pour to his favorite diner. The old, weather tattered sign always read, Mac's Diner: The best food in a million miles. He walked in, and a waitress greeted him. "Hey there Jimmy boy. Coffee?" she said "Sure Jane." Raynor said as he sat in the same bar seat. He ate the same old hamburger he always got. He paid the same bill he always did. Nothing ever changed. He left back out into the horrid rain. This process carried on for another month. Finally one day, there was a call, the only one that day. Raynor stomped to the phone and picked it up. "Hello." "Hello, Mr. Raynor?" "Yes? This is he." "Sir, we have something important." "I don't want to re enlist. So don't ask me." "It's not about that sir. Its about a friend of yours." "Who! Tell me who!" "We've recovered the body of Ms. Sarah Kerrigan. Her funeral is in 2 weeks. We would like you to say a few words please." "Alright, I can do that. I owe Sarah one." With that the phone was dead. Raynor thought has he watched the news. Sullenly he got up and walked out into the darkness of night to Mac's Diner. Inside he pulled out a paper pad and a pen. He sat and wrote. He wrote until he could write no more. Then he paid his bill and left. The day of the funeral came upon Jim Raynor faster then he thought. He bought a suit and adorned it with the various medals he had earned while in the UED. He walked to a bus stop and got to the funeral. He sat in the front, with her family and close friends. "We would now like to call Marshal Jim Raynor up to say a few words." The minister said. Raynor stood up and walked up. He pulled the paper out of his coat pocked as he walked. "What can I say? What is there to say? I've known Sarah since I was 10, she was the first and best friend I ever had until I moved. I was reunited with her in the army. She was always kind and considerate. When people asked me about my feelings towards her, I always said she was my partner. We were all shocked when she was possessed by the Zerg. Apart from her family, I think I was the most worried. Until then I never knew how I felt about Sarah. I never got to tell her what I wanted to say. Now I regret that I didn't and only wish that she were here to today. Sarah was never a person who was willing to give up, she knew that when she took the risk assigned to her by command. I was not about to let her go, but she said that she wouldn't be stopped. We all love Sarah and miss her much. Thank you." Raynor finished and walked back to his seat. The rest of the funeral was a bore. So Raynor left. Another month passes since then. Raynor felt lonely and depressed after that. His phone had been quiet for along time. He was looking out his window when it rang. He sprinted over to the phone. "Jim? It's me."
