Senior High
Nicholas Morgan walked to his high school, as usual. He got there way early and waited for his friends, as usual. Everything was going pretty much as it always had, it being the first day of his senior year.
Nick still had ten minutes to kill, so he hung out around the office. Most of the other boys that got to school early hung out there also. It was because of the secretary, Kelly, a gold-blonde bombshell who was nice but not too bright, and Laura, the security guard, who was pretty, in a cool sort of way. They had both come around the beginning of the school year.
Nick didn't bother pining for either one, to do so would be wasting time, but he did enjoy the other boys' antics, though he himself did blush when either, in fact any, girl, payed attention to him.
Nick noticed a little chestnut haired girl with pigtails he had never seen before go up to the office window. She said, "My name is Tara Emerson. May I have my schedule please?"
"Oh, you are so cute! Of course, now what did you say your name was?"
"Tara Emerson"
"Oh, yes" After much fuss, and a spilled cup of coffee, the girl was handed a soggy schedule. Tara held it gingerly, wrinkling her nose. Nick smiled at her as she walked by. "In the future, just go get whatever you need, or ask an office aide"
"Thanks" Tara walked to the West Wing, which was K-6. The East Wing was 7-8, and the North and South Wings were 9-12, and the music, art, and such elective courses. It was a quite large school.
Nick looked at his own schedule. Geography, Art, Home Economics, Anatomy, Study Hall/Lunch, then English 4, Pre-Calculus, Physical Education, and FL-Japanese 3. A full plate.
Word was getting around that two new students were being enrolled today in the High School section. The daughter of the owner of the school, well, the most generous venture capitalist anyway. Sounded snobby. The other was... well no body knew who the other one was, except that she was a girl, a genius, and she wore glasses. Sounded like a geek to Nick.
Well, he was wrong, a little bit on on one account, and way off base on the other. The first one he saw was Elizabeth Emerson, daughter of the rich guy. He went outside to see what the commotion was all about.
She walked head held high, her simple uniform perfectly pressed and arranged modestly. She had violet eyes, and dark mahogany, almost burgundy hair, cut into a perfect pageboy. She looked from side to side discretely. When she saw Nick, her eyes lingered for a moment. Then she was walking ahead.
Nick decided she was too terribly perfect for the likes of him. He wasn't perfect, not even a little. But that didn't mean he couldn't be her friend. He was so preoccupied with thinking about Elizabeth, that he completely forgot about the other new student. But that slight wouldn't last long.
He didn't notice her until she was right behind him, which he was amazed by. One couldn't help but notice Jade Delaney.
She sauntered up behind him and brushed his shoulder with hers. "Hi handsome" her throaty voice called back to him as she walked turning her head to look back at him.
Nick was so startled he could only stare, long after she disappeared into the school. He still wasn't quite sure he'd actually seen her, for that matter. That girl couldn't possibly have been the geek he'd envisioned, could she? He had to see her again to make sure.
The bell rang, and Nick belatedly realized he was late. He sprinted to his class and was disappointed that niether girl was in his Geography class. Everyone was talking about them though. The class was buzzing with gossip and hearsey, all of which Nick was oblivious to. He would meet them and decide for himself what to think.
