Swords

Author: Fyre

Rating: PG this chapter, but soon to get higher. Be wary.

Disclaimer: None of the characters and their universes belong to me and I am definitely not making any money off my fanfiction.
Warnings: None for this teaser chapter… But this is a YAOI fic, meaning that there are two guys together… Got it?
Notes: Alright, this is my attempt at a Marth/Roy fic, perhaps leading to an eventual lemon, and I'm just putting this out to see if I should continue or not… *shrugs* Here we go…

Swords clashed on the battleground of Hyrule, the metallic clangs ringing through the air.  Two fighters, simple blurs to the human eye, fought against each other with the ferocity of tigers. They whirled and struck, fell back, then struck at one another again. It was a dance, of sorts, and they were dancing on the edge of death.

The shorter one gathered his strength for a major attack and slashed at his taller, blue-haired opponent, fire rising from his sword. His blue eyes glowed with a fierce intensity that his opponent had seen many times before, and had always had a hard time defeating it.

The fire grazed his side badly as he leaped away to avoid it. He caught his breath and took this opportunity to rush at the other exhausted fighter. Having used up most of his energy, the fire-warrior was bent over, breathing hard. He did not see the taller man come at him in time.

With a swift final slash and kick, he sent the fire-warrior flying off the arena and sat down heavily.

PLAYER DEFEATED! rang the announcer's voice and Marth closed his eyes with a sigh. He was being taken back, away from the arena, at last. A day of fighting did make one weary.

Prince Marth of Altea woke up again in one of the rooms in the fight center. He stood up and stepped away from the teleport area and looked around for Roy. Sure enough, his Fire Emblem partner was there, nursing his own wounds on a bent. He had taken off his body armor and tunic, pressing a wet cloth against the long, angry welt spanning from his collarbone to his waist, from Marth's sword's slash.

"I won…" Marth said underneath his breath. It was said more to himself, to convince himself that he had beaten Roy and his fire for victory. He had not intended for his opponent to hear- but he did.

"Yeah, go brag about it, will you?" Roy muttered sourly. "I'm sure you're just dying to go tell Link and Samus."

"I didn't mean it as a brag," replied Marth. He twisted his hands and looked down at the floor. "I'm sorry, should I have lost on purpose again to boost your ego?"

The fire-warrior let out a low growl and glared at the blue-haired Prince, then backed off strangely, leaning back. He closed his eyes.

"Look… I made a bet with myself before we engaged in our battle… And it has to do with something serious with you and me. I know you're a prince and all… And I'm just a common-born who got a high rank… But I made myself promise that if I lost, I would tell you that…" He trailed off, jaw clenching uncomfortably.

By now Marth's attention was riveted on Roy's face as he sat very still, waiting for the answer. Never had Roy displayed any action like this before… This was different and important, the Prince knew.

"I'm going to tell you that… I, uh… Have feelings for you."

TBC?

AN: hey, that was it, but I'll keep writing anyways… I can't stop now, eh? Tell me what you think! (ps. You can tell me if it sucks, I can take it!) Just any feedback would be wonderful.
