The moon is full
And spirits howl
Halloween ghosts
Are on the prowl
Duo walked through the grave yard. For once, the cheerful jokers mask was gone. His violet eyes full of pain and sorrow, of anguish and agony. In the depths of those violet orb was unmerciful torment. Torture from his inner demons, and it seemed all to clear now they would never leave his tortured soul alone. For it was always his fault. He was Shinigami, he choose his fate; now he must pay the price. This is the real Duo. He knows it is safe to be him self here in this abandoned graveyard, no one was here to see him. No one is here to give him unwanted sympathy; no one is here to pity him. Well that's how it appeared at least. Duo stopped at one lone grave on a hill.
You're on my mind
This spooky night
For it's the eve
We reunite
Duo knelt next to the grave, running his fingers along the engraved name. Tears ran down his cheeks, he did not bother to stop them. He looked up to catch a short glimpse of the now setting sun. The full moon rose into the sky, casting an eerie light upon the tombstone. Duo ran his hands along the date, the second one that stated when the person died. It read October 31, AC 197. It had been two years exactly on this cold Halloween night. Two years since he died. Duo died also that day, his eyes held no life in them. His body was just a shell; a walking, talking coffin for a dead soul. He spoke softly to himself, his voice barely above a whisper. He chanted the same line over and over for three minutes before a voice stopped him.
So take my hand
And dance with me
For once a year
Our love can be
Duo slowly looked up, staring into the translucent Prussian blue eyes and he couldn't help but smile softly. A sliver of life returned to his eyes, this was the night he lived for. He gazed up at the boy standing atop the grave; his messy chocolate brown hair going this way and that. His soft tan and his green tank top and black spandex shorts and his yellow sneakers. All of it was clear; he had returned. They were reunited. Duo stood and smiled a genuine smile. He had grown taller since that Halloween two years ago. He was only nineteen but looked so much older. The boy on the grave looked the same, he couldn't grow old, he would be forever seventeen. As the translucent boy stepped down from his grave Duo seemed to become shorter. Duo now looked two years younger he looked identical to when he was seventeen.
"Duo." The boy said as he held out his hand. "Do me a favor and just dance with me, Duo."
"Yes of course Heero." Duo took his hands and they just danced. But time was unforgiving as the moon began to set and the light of dawn glowed in the distance. The two kissed, not wanting to part.
"I love you Heero Yuy. I'll love you always and forever. I don't want this night to end. I want to stay here with you Heero. I want to be forever seventeen with you." Duo said quietly, his voice broken.
"I love you too Duo, but we cannot be together. I only wish we could. I love you Duo and I always will." Heero whispered. They kissed passionately once more as the sun rose. Duo stumbled as it all vanished. Heero was gone, gone for another year. The sliver of light was gone only to be replaced with more sorrow. This night always kept him wishing for one more night, for time to just stop so their love could be. Why did Heero have to die? Leave him here alone. Duo sighed sadly as he returned to his apartment.
