Seed of Hope

I had a vision you know
A long, long time ago
I saw two people, side by side,
Standing alone.
They held their hands outstretched to each other
And in each one's hand, they held a seed
A seed of hope together.
And as I watched, they put their hands together,
And the seeds began to grow
And soon they had a garden of hope, and they tended it
Together.
They watered the flowers, and pulled the weeds, and
It grew stronger every day.
Then one day the girl picked a rose
Big enough for a human to lie on
With a smile she handed it to her companion
And as they held it together, not minding the thorns,
It began to grow
They were lifted upward on a cloud
They looked around and they saw
The garden of hope they'd grown together
Had been made into a world of hope
And they embraced each other, and the flower's stem
Encased them together
And as it grew taller, and taller, and so
It grew up to a golden sun
And the sun's light filled its petals with the colour of hope
And then my dream faded but still I remember
And I've thought about it
I think those two could have been us
I've got a necklace of seeds. You hold one and I'll take another
And if we held our hands together
We could make a garden too
Because where there's a seed of love
There must be a seed of hope as well
