A/N: this is a total short story...it probably suxx, I dunno...i wrote it last night at 4 in the morning, so...yeah. I don't even know where this came from, LoL. I'd like to know what you guys think, though. If it suxx, tell me [I'm getting a lil better at accepting flames, I think, yay!!], but be nice about it, eh?? Or I just may rethink uploading my newest story, hehe.
Another thing...this takes place after 'I Can't Get Started'...
Crying In The Dark
Jess walked over to the bridge, his hands in his pockets. He stopped short when he saw Rory sitting there, her legs dangling over the edge, above the water. She was crying.
He swallowed, forcing himself to keep walking over to her. He sat down next to her, not saying a word, and stared at the water. He would wait until she wanted to talk. However long it took, he would wait. Anything for her.
Rory wiped her eyes, not meeting his gaze. Her head was bent down, her hair hiding her face--yet she knew it was Jess who sat beside her. She felt comfort in his presence alone, but she secretly wished he hadn't been there to see her like that.
She finally raised her head, pushing back her hair and looking over at him. He turned to meet her gaze.
"Hi," Rory said softly.
"Hey."
"What are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing," he replied, looking at his watch. It was nearly two in the morning.
"I couldn't sleep, so I took a walk and ended up here."
"Want to talk about it?"
"No," she whispered.
"Do you want me to leave?"
"No," she repeated. She swallowed back the tears that threatened to take over yet again.
"Is it Dean?" Jess pressed lightly.
Rory shook her head, wiping her eyes again. She told him about what had happened with her dad, and how he was going back to Sherry.
"Can I do anything? Do you need anything?"
"Yeah. Can you just...can you just hold me for awhile?"
She looked so small right then. Jess wrapped his arms around her and held her close while she cried.
He watched her, feeling helpless, until she looked up again. He felt his own eyes water as he saw just how upset she really was.
Slowly, he leaned over and his lips met hers in a long, slow kiss. She leaned into him and his tears mixed with hers. Then she pulled away and buried her face in his neck, telling him to never let her go.
"I won't," Jess promised, stroking her hair as she cried. He sighed, embracing her closer as she shivered. He had never cared for anyone the way he did for Rory. He hated that she was in so much pain. He whispered to her that everything would be okay, and her tears gradually stopped, and her breathing slowed. She fell asleep in his arms.
-The end.
