Summary: A vignette about Lupin and Sirius' betrayal. No slash.
Author's note: I missed clicked and put this stroy in the Hardy Boys section. Thanks ThE iNsAnE oNe & Chaos Kid for pointing that out. I've fixed it now (obviously). Enjoy the story!
~ Flaws ~
I look deep into the dark night sky. The sky is cloaked in clouds but I know that it is almost a full moon. Soon tomorrow - I will change, transform into a monster. I should be thinking about the change, anticipating the pain of it. Instead I think of you.
How could you Sirius? How could anyone betray their friends to their deaths? They trusted you with their lives and you betrayed them. Was our friendship worth that little to you? We were a team, the Marauders. I pick up a photograph from what seems like lifetimes away when in truth it only took place a year ago. It shows you and James arm in arm and Lily holding a newborn Harry in her arms.
Harry.
You betrayed your own godson to Voldemort. I never thought anyone could be so heartless. I guess I never saw the true you. I remember when you first found out my secret, you, James and Peter. You and James helped me when every one else turned their backs on me. I remember what you told me when you found out. I had expected you to call me a freak, run from me in fear. But instead you just look at me and say.
"Everyone has their flaws."
It was a weak joke, but it helped. My family and I were exiled from our home. I still remember the crackling of the fire as our house burned. No one befriends a were-wolf. Until you. I thought you were my friend, I thought I could trust you. I still remember the shouts from the crowd as I ran from my burning home.
"Were-wolf!"
"Killer!"
"Monster!"
I look back and I see that I really was a monster. But not as much as you were Sirius Black. Every one has their flaws and you the 'best' of us all; you Sirius Black were the most monstrous of us all.
~ End ~
