A smile. Ever since they started going out a smile has been planted on Duo's face It shines like the sun at noon. They have their hardships, like clouds, but he always shines through. Always so optimistic. He is constantly talking to me. Telling me everything that is going on in their lives. I love listening to him. His happiness is contagious until I realize, I'm not happy. I'm depressed. He's so active. Always wanting to go somewhere and do something. He hasn't been like this since the end of the war. I almost hurts to see that it's not me that makes him that way. I can't be around them. I want to keep on hating Quatre for stealing him away from me, but he's so nice, so good for Duo. I almost can't. "Duo's birthday is so near. I have the perfect gift for him. How about you Trowa?" "Won't tell you, Quatre" "Why not?" "You'll tell him." "No, I won't." "He can get anything out of you and you know it." "I'm not that bad. Herro?" "I don't know." "His birthday is tomorrow." "I'm going out tonight." I don't even know what I'm getting him for his birthday and he's got the perfect gift.
Duo knows Quatre.
A smile. A smile crosses my face.
Quatre knows Duo.
But it is not a smile like the sun.
They've grown together
It does not shine.
What about me?
It is dark.
I've grown apart.
A shadow to hide my pain.
