Willow Rosenberg watched as her two best friends, Xander Harris and Buffy Summers, danced to a slow, romantic song at the Bronze one evening. It was strange really. Buffy and Xander made about as much sense as Cordelia and Xander and yet there they were. Looking at each other like they wasn't another soul in the world. She shifted her gaze to the stage and caught Oz's eye. He smiled and she blew him a kiss, so glad they were together again and that he had forgiven her momentary lust with Xander. Cordelia on the other hand hadn't been as forgiving and she and Xander were history along with Cordy's membership in the Scooby Doo gang. Cordelia's choice not theirs. Speaking of the brunette.. Willow's thoughts trailed off as scanned the room for her former friend. She finally spotted her in the corner with Harmony and all the other members of the snob squad. They were all glaring daggers at Buffy and Xander, who were still oblivious to the crowd around them. Looking at Cordy, Willow realized the hurt in her expression and felt sorry for her. She knew Cordy had truly cared about Xander and seeing him now, just two months after they split up, looking so perfectly happy must be painful for her.

It was painful for someone else too, Willow felt as she searched for the familiar face of Buffy's first love, finally spotting him on the second level looking down at the couple, who had moved closer together as the song continued. Willow saw the tortured look on the vampire's face as he watched his love fall in love with someone else. Angel must have felt Willow's gaze because he turned his gaze to her. Willow gave him a small smile and a little wave. The wave was returned, but not the smile, before Angel disappeared into the crowd and Willow heard Devon announce a band break. Suddenly Willow had Oz sitting next to her and Xander and Buffy across from her.

"So Will you looked pretty serious over here. What were you thinking about?"

"Oh, nothing." Willow said.
