Serena walked slowly along the beach. Collin was out surfing, and Jimena sat silently on the sand, watching intently as he maneuvered through the water. Serena glanced back at Jimena and then looked out at the setting sun. It was a beautiful sight, and one she had been quietly waiting for. She ran to where she said she would be and waited. She watched, as the pinks and purples faded into the waves, slowly giving way to the blackness that was night. Suddenly a dark shadow wrapped around her, and a tremor of excitement raced through her body. Wanting to see how long Serena could stand having to wait to wrap her arms around him, Stanton slowly crept from his shadowy form. Her body shook in silent anticipation. She waited, growing more impatient each moment that he delayed.
When Stanton finally stood before her in his human form, she wrapped her arms around his neck. He bent his head down towards her and his lips only just brushed her own. He breathed in her hair, scented of lilacs. They held each other for a few minutes, although eternity would not have satisfied them. As the two pulled away they heard Jimena yelling for Serena. It was time for them to go, and neither Jimena nor Collin knew where she had gone.
'You better go, Serena. You would not want Jimena and Collin worrying about you,' Stanton said in her mind. She looked up at him, gazing into his deep blue eyes, knowing he would not pull her in. How could she leave him now? They had barely had any time together, and she wanted to spend forever with him. Stanton grabbed Serena's face and pulled it closer to his own. He embraced her and kissed her as though the two of them would never see each other again. The kiss was full of passion, raw emotion, the type that ordinary humans can never feel, the type that can only be felt between two whom should never have fallen in love.
The two of them broke away slowly, wishing that they would never have to part. At first they did not want to be together, and now, now it hurt for them to leave each other. How could this have happened? Stanton felt the doubts running through Serena's mind. He kissed her cheek, a slow, soft kiss. He would not allow himself to kiss her lips again, for he knew that if he would he would be unable to control the attraction he felt to her. He would be unable to stop himself from corrupting her.
As Stanton saw Jimena and Collin coming closer to where the two of them were, he knew he had to leave. Even though they accepted Serena's love for Stanton, they still did not entirely approve and both were rather open with their disapproval of this romance. Stanton looked into Serena's eyes, and then he slowly became a shadow. He wrapped around Serena once more before floating off into the night. "Sweet dreams, my love."
