Moonlight

The buisness partners waved their goodbyes as Filia finished closing the store, put the tea away, and cleaned. She shut the cupboard, and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand. She walked out of the shop, and up the stairs to her small home.
She quietly walked down the hallway, and sneaked into little Valgaav's room. He breathed easily in his sleep. She smiled calmly at him and stroked his cheek with her hand. She walked away from the crib, and sat down in the rocking chair across from her. The moonlight illuminated her face, and the tears that rolled down it. She would never admit it to anyone. Not this feeling. Lonlieness. Yes, truthfully she felt so alone. Like the leaf on a tree in fall. The tears flowed freely down her face. Sure, she had little Valgaav and the store keepers, and Miss Lina and her friends would often visit her. But still, something was missing. In her heart she knew what it was, but would never let herself believe it. That damn mazoku. His stupid smile. The way he teased her and made her furious. She buried her head in her hands and sobbed, every time she thought about him, this happened. It was true, she loved him. She cried her eyes out for him, lonley without him. If she could just see him one time.
Whenever he visited, she acted harsh and cold, but really, she was overjoyed that he was there. She wished he was there now. Those tears, she cried for him. But they were nonsense, he wasn't there. He wasn't coming. She freed her hands from her face, and stared at the floor. The tears rolled off her face unto the floor.

"Filia-chan, why are you crying?"

She swished her head around to the doorway, and there, in the darkness, was Xellos. Was this real? Was he really here? Slowly, she stood up from the chair, which rocked when she did. She took two small steps. Xellos stood in the doorway, still. She quickened her pace with each step, until she was running. She ran into him, and hugged him, crying and sobbing. He was takenaback at first, but softened. He hugged her back, shushing her. In one swift motion, he picked her up and sat in the rocking chair, and rocked her like a small child. She clung to him, crying her heart out. He cradled her and soothed her pain. He knew he was the cause. But it was ok, now. He was her with her. Just where he wanted to be. Just where she wanted to be. Her tears slowed and he wiped them away. She had fallen asleep. Xellos looked out the window from the chair. Over all the tree tops, the moon was visible. Silently, he thanked the one person who did this, who told him she missed him so dearly. Who wanted him to sooth her pain. Who made both thier wishes come true.
