A hand on her cheek, holding her as close as you can, the other is at the back of her body... You pull her close although there is no need to - She wants it as much as you do. She's been waiting for this just as long as you have, probably even longer. And God, waiting just made it better, so much better than you have ever imagined. And you wonder, you wonder why you have waited so long to do that until you realize that there were so many things to be then before, to make this moment memorable for the both of you.
And it is.
Two tongues tangled in a game of hide and seek, doing more seeking then hiding. Her hands in your slowly growing hair, messing it, soothing it, messing again... A full circle that continues to repeat itself as your kiss progresses.
Up on the rooftop with the moonlight hitting your body, an all too familiar setting, you can't help but compare... And be thankful for that one that ended, for the following one that ended, both leading you here, into her arms. Into the arms of that one that has always understood, always been there even when you weren't worthy of that.
The one that has always loved you.
That you have always loved, even if it took you way to long to admit it to yourself, let alone to her. It was all so much easier once you admitted it to yourself. Made it easier to get out of something that did no good for you anyway. And telling her... Telling her might've been the easiest thing you ever needed to say. Because you had really felt it this time, deep inside of you, but on the surface as well... And one look into her eyes before you leaned in was enough for you to know she felt just the same as you did.
You don't pull backwards until you're out of breath. When you do, you caress her face, brushing the strands of hair away from her face. The moon is reflecting in her eyes, making them sparkle - But you know that it's not only because of the moon that they are sparkling. You have a hand in that too, you think happily.
"God, Deb, that was..." she silences you before you get a chance to finish your sentence, her finger resting gently against your lips.
"Shhh. You're going to ruin the moment," she says, her lips forming into a smile. A single tear falls from her right eye, and you hurry to wipe it away.
"I always knew," she whispers before she wraps her arms around your waist, leaning into an embrace you gladly return.
The moon lights the two of you, the only light spot on the darkened room. There is no need for light around you anyway, because all that matters now is the two of you - and what had just happened between you, what is still left to discover and do.
Goodnight, moon.
